  1. So maybe the waiver wire guy that everybody freaked out about, Wilkes-Booth or whatever his name was, was just to replace Berrios?
  2. Deadline deals is for dummies - wild gm Fletcher has proven that. Keep your best prospects and play youth down the stretch. Shannon Stewart is the only pennant drive acquisition I can recall that made a positive difference in recent history. More often than not you get Capps, or bad Kendrys Morales.
  3. This was the first time I watched him pitch an MLB game and just trust his stuff - no nibblenuts, just putting it in there and letting them whack it if they could. Most of what they could square up was handled by the D. Very encouraging result vs. a good team.
  4. Here's some hope: Buxton has a higher batting average than Mike Nalpoli and Alex Gordon, and is .02 behing Jose Bautista, and .10 behind Alcides Escobar. Slow start Georgia guy waiting for some warm weather.
  5. Wierd - watched the Twins blow a pop-up in the infield tonite yet get the guy at second. Just saw Boston do the same thing half an hour later. Hadn't seen that in years, now twice in 30 minutes or so. Good old baseball.
  6. I dunno, first place in May kind of exceeds my expectations, by a lot actually. So has the mainly sharp fundamental baseball.
  7. Let's call it a lesson in moderating our expectations, and patience.
  8. I'd be happy if the season ended with Buxton as a .250 hitter, and Berrios with an ERA below 4.5 Rome wasn't built in a day.
  9. He is worthy. Wish the Twins had just sat on the original contract, but he has fully become a pitcher. If he ever gets his stuff back, wow! If not, future pitching coach.
  10. Looking at his minor league stats, he ain't THAT bad. ML.B unready to be sure MiLB: 3.67 ERA, 7K per 9, 1.7 BB per 9. Waiver worthy - wtf not? Lefty!
  11. 6 for 6 - 3 HRs - 10 RBI. Pretty incredible. I did notice that our old friend Sean Gilmartin did give up 2 of the HRS, 4 of the RBIs.
  12. I'd be happy just to have an Al-Star caliber player on the Twins again.
  13. The old regime had a bad record. Falvey may usher in a new era of excellence at developing pitching. At least, I'm sure thats what they'll tell Greene.
  14. Sounds like them new Duluth Trading Butt Ugly underwears....Full of, well, no need to repeat.
  15. Behold the bewiderbeest http://www.bioexpedition.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/The_Blue_Wildebeest_in_Africa_600.jpg I don't get it either.
  16. Oh fun, let's watch Tomlin eat Buck for dinner here.
  17. Saw this ad and it cracked me up. U of M night at Target field. Buck tooth and toothless....
  18. Well, here's an opportunity for the Twins to change the game from the current super specialization(left handed relief specialist) to best athletes(Babe Ruth). I played baseball through high school, and the best pitcher was usually the best position player as well. Draft Hunter Greene to pitch ands play SS, sign Otani to pitch and DH. Fun thought.
  19. I find it pretty humorous that people are bagging on an upper 90-100 mph throwing 17 year old with Greene's physique and make-up because of the quality of his secondary pitches.
  20. Jones, can't believe he hits upper 90s with that delivery.
  21. High quality start. Whatever.
  22. I don't know if what I'm seeing equates to piranas. What I am seeing though is fundamentally sound baseball: decent starts, solid relief, great patience at the plate, some timely hits, and very good defense. 159 more of the same please. The shoddy play is what appalled me most the last few years. Case in point, D San's botched bunt at bat would have been par for the course last season, whereas if actually stood out today.
  23. What'd you all think of Santiago's performance today? Not a quality start, but I saw a lot of quality pitches out there. I like the way he worked the off-speed stuff in as the game progressed. I thought he looked like a solid, regular MLB started today.
  24. Not to mention the one-time Twin Mike Marshall. I used to enjoy watching him throw that pitch. Marshall still holds the AL record for pitching apperances in a season with 90, for the 79 Twins. He also has the ML record, with a whopping 106 appearances in 74, all in relief, totalling 208 innings! Cy Young recipient. To show how the game has changed, he had 15-12 record that year, and only 21 saves.
  25. Johan started in the pen, and wasn't a full-time starter until he was 25. Not saying Jay is Santana, but get him experience now, or soon as a 22 year old vs. major league hitters, no saying he won't move to spot starting, then starting full time down the road. Power lefty arms are always of interest to me. Good point HBD ^^^
