  1. Kirby is a career 3.42 ERA pitcher before this season. That 6+ ERA is based off a sample size of only 6 starts. Still a pathetic outing from our bats, of course.
  2. I think it's a reminder that the talent on the roster greatly trumps how competent a manager is. Kelly had some garbage rosters and there is only so much he could do with so little talent.
  3. We got Duran in a trade that some here criticized because Eduardo Escobar was a fan favorite and could have been re-signed for cheap. There's no reason to hold onto the guys with expiring contracts if they aren't going to be re-signed.
  4. I had stated earlier this year that there was no evidence to believe Rocco's seat was getting hot... and unfortunately, I was right. I really wondered the past week if it might finally be time, but nay. Falvey loves Rocco and clearly thinks the product on the field is acceptable - Falvey needs to be canned ASAP, Rocco's incompetence is simply a symptom of a dysfunctional organization. As long as the Pohlads own this team, there is going to be very little accountability for those in charge. I don't think this news changes anything related to the sale of the team, the timing probably had to do with a deadline in Rocco's contract.
  5. I really have to wonder if continuing to throw Ober out there is the right move. I guess they did get 7 innings out of him, but he continues to give up HRs at an alarming rate. At least have him skip a start and see if that time off helps his ailments.
  6. I think the plan is to kick most of that money to 2026 as they currently project to have the least cap space in the NFL next year, but it could be used as emergency funds. Jordan Mason was brought in to be that TD machine on the goal line, Edwards is superfluous with him. But I wouldn't be shocked to see them find RB3 from outside the organization. I think they're happy at CB, Rodgers seems to be penciled in as a full-time starter and they brought in Okudah to compete for snaps. They also have Tavierre Thomas who had some strong PFF grades as a slot CB in Houston and Ambry Thomas who was a passable starter for the 49ers a couple years back. I don't think they are looking to make an addition. I do think the safety room badly needs a vet with only Jay Ward and a random UDFA behind the starters. I would pick up Julian Blackmon in a heartbeat as he has been a solid starter for the Colts several years running.
  7. Gotta give credit to the bats for not giving up on this one.
  8. A rebuild of the roster, farm system, coaching staff, front office, and ownership... in my opinion, anything less than that won't be enough.
  9. The vast majority of other teams' lineups vary wildly like Rocco's, is there any evidence to believe that this affects hitter performance? Also, Alcala is almost 30 years old, I wouldn't call that young. He may not have been "the issue", but he finished 2024 poorly and was abysmal this season. I don't see the point of continuing to trot him out there when the pitching staff can't fix him.
  10. I turned on the TV… just to see Steer hit a HR. Ugh.
  11. We gonna talk about how former Twin Scott Blewett was part of one of the least improbable comebacks of all time? D-Backs were down 10-4 in the 9th with one out, but Blewett... well, blew it!
  12. Really have to wonder if Festa is a reliever... it'd be yet another piece of the pitching pipeline to not make it as a starter.
  13. How many times have we said "player XYZ in AAA is mashing, we have to call him up" and then he comes up and flops? Gasper was already abysmal in his first stretch of games defensively and looked lost at the plate. Call me an ageist, but I don't see the upside in a guy who looked nowhere near ready for the majors in his first time around at age 29. Could be a small sample size, but is there any reason to believe that he can figure out MLB pitching for any reason other than he's hot in AAA right now? I'm not opposed to giving him another chance but I don't like his chances of helping this team going forward. I'd rather call up the likes of Will Holland, somebody who has a real chance to be a decent fielder and possibly a bench player going forward. Why can't this organization develop even a passable bench player?
  14. The hitters will probably get randomly hot for a week or two this summer and give the team hope again for a stretch, just for them to get cold again.
  15. I thought Mejia could be a passable #5 starter, but apparently not.
  16. Yeah, I have a hard time believing that a guy who needed 930 PAs at AA will figure out AAA and become a MLB contributor within a reasonable amount of time. No harm in trying, but it seems like most of our power-only prospects sputter out at this point.
  17. Geez, talk about adding insult to injury. Crazy how this team went from looking like a bottom 5 team, then 12 game win streak and suddenly they look relevant, now they're heading right back to being terrible. But they ran back this same roster that continues to break down with injuries, can't really say I'm surprised when Lewis blows another hammy. And it's a borderline miracle Buxton has lasted this long.
  18. I don't think we can blame Alcala any longer...
  19. Welp, I guess this is the Paddack regression that one article was warning us about. Just in time as the rest of the rotation crumbles...
  20. I don't have a problem with the last guy on the bench collecting cobwebs when it's a guy who is organizational filler, better Bride going unused than a prospect.
  21. Sometimes good pitchers like Ober and Sands get shelled, it happens... though I do wonder if Ober needs a stint on the IL if it's true the velocity dip is from knee/hip problems. I know we can't afford to lose another starter... guess we'll just have to rely on the pitching pipeline we supposedly have.
  22. Lopez was put on the 60 day list to open a spot for him, so they're at 39. Tonkin will probably take the 40th spot.
  23. Alcala has been traded to Boston, so Wentz will take his spot.
