  1. Thats Sim - not efficient but gets the job done. Plus I like his socks.
  2. I think this is a good thread especially over the long haul. We tend to judge in a short term way and hopefully this will enable us to take a longer term look at the lineup, how it is constructed and what underlying principles are at play. I honestly feel it’s an area where Falvey has underperformed but I’m interested in what other posters think as well. Sometimes it’s easy to get so granular with analysis (because we now have such good data) that we neglect the global view. Out of a bit of momentary frustration I posted in a thread that the Twins had managed to compile a lineup that couldn’t score any runs but was also poor defensively and that it took special talent to do that. The comment was unnecessarily snarky but there is truth there in my opinion. How does that happen? What philosophies of the org contribute to that? Is it something that should or could be changed without a different FO?
  3. I understand the rules, they are minimal in my view. Apparently we disagree which is fine - enjoy the game tonight.
  4. I am specifically referring to pitchers who are making league minimum or close to it. I am not worried about Dobnak - he’s got his money no matter where he pitches. The bigger issue for me is allows teams to have a 15 or more pitcher bullpen which directly evades the 13 pitcher limit. Bigger bullpens mean shorter starts, more three true outcomes etc etc
  5. How is that Paddack trade looking? Another Falvey special. I think the accountability net needs to be widened to include the FO and ownership.
  6. I just posted about this in another thread. Something should be done - a minimum, stay, more big league pay etc. It’s one more element Thats keeps pens fresh so starters only have to go 5.
  7. The guy has to stop swinging at everything or he will never make it. He has no plate discipline and pitchers know it.
  8. This business of shuttling guys up for one outing and then sending them down the road should be stopped. Perhaps there needs to be a required minimum stay barring injury.
  9. Buck and c4 might want to stop trying to pull every pitch on the outside corner.
  10. What the hell was Miranda thinking?
  11. So we’ve tried different hitting coaches and different philosophies. When do we determine that our hitters aren’t good?
  12. Saw an older gentleman in the bar - didn’t appear to be wealthy. He bought four drinks - for himself and three friends. Left a dollar tip to which the bartender snorted in derision. The whole tipping think is out of control
  13. I don’t know about done but I can’t recall him getting out on a strike. That’s the stuff that gets noticed in a hurry.
  14. I’m sure the vodka (if the quantity is sufficient) will kill any germs. Might be a requirement to continue watching.
  15. Amen. Seems like a great guy but I don’t care to listen to him ramble for three hours.
  16. No pressure Bailey - we might win if you throw a shutout.
  17. I’m a firm believer that all prospects are suspects until they aren’t. Having said that I am as excited about Winokur as any prospect since Buck. To me he is head and shoulders above any other SS in our system and hope they leave him at short. He made a play in spring training where he went way deep in the hole, like way on the outfield grass, smooth backhand pickup and then threw an absolute seed to first. Correa like velocity.
  18. Yes that was already pointed out. The point of the story was the frustration of having great pitching and no hitting. And it may not even have been Koufax that threw the no hitter - I just think it is a funny story not an examination of baseball history.
  19. Probably. He has to make substantial improvements on both sides of the ball to be useful in the big leagues. He could improve his hitting but probably never enough to make up for his poor fielding. Likewise he could improve his fielding but probably never enough to make up for his mediocre bat. More concerning to me is this is a complete whiff in player evaluation and development by the FO which isnt uncommon.
  20. It’s exciting to have good pitching prospects but the only thing that matters is how they do against mlb hitters. So as far as making comparisons Thats the only one that matters (to me anyway).
  21. I probably have the year wrong too but it’s a story that has become part of baseball lore. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
  22. I really like Ober. He is a solidly top 25% pitcher in the big leagues. However his margin for error is so much smaller than the dominant starters in the league. He can cruise through a lineup most of the time but when he isn’t right he can get pounded. I’m satisfied having him with the Twins as is.
