  1. I think the group of good young players plus Skubal is a little more important.
  2. Certainly appears that the impending move. I think it would be a huge mistake as well.
  3. Strong game by Brooks Lee at third. He looks like our best fielder there. If he can get an extended run there we might have a solid left side of the infield.
  4. Perhaps Lucas can weigh in here but I’ve been told by Physical Therapists that muscle pulls are a result of weak muscles and / or muscle imbalances not lack of flexibility.
  5. Agree on all counts particularly number 3. They are going to have to win close games to make the playoffs and Thats means fundamentally strong baseball something they frequently struggle with.
  6. I feel like the chatter about the pipeline started too soon. Fans got excited when these college pitchers started having success at AA and AAA. However the biggest jump is to the show so we really don’t know yet about guys like Festa, Mathews and even SWR. Hope for the best but let’s not be surprised if several don’t make it.
  7. The lineup needs a jolt. A jolt bigger than what can be done at the deadline. I would sell at this point. Not strip it down as I think it can be re tooled in the off season.
  8. Paddack looks afraid to challenge their hitters. Nibble, nibble.
  9. Hans - Are you aware that Buck has a full no trade clause? He’s not going anywhere.
  10. Me too. My guess is the higher totals are a combo of wanting them to gain experience stealing even if they get thrown out plus catchers were don’t throw as well, pitchers who don’t hold runners and are wild and infielders not as adept applying tags. The Cardinals back in the day were one of my favorite teams because they ran so much.
  11. Thanks for the thoughtful post. I was going to do a slight variation of this but will just include it here for better discussion. This last off season I wrote about 2025 being a make or break year (to varying degrees) for a bunch of players. The FO bet on these players which was a defensible position given their ages and experience levels. In this group I included Miranda, Jeffers, Martin, Julien, Larnach and to a lesser extent Wallner and Lewis. I didn’t include pitchers in my post. None of these players have taken a clear step forward. IMO Larnach and Jeffers have treaded water. The others have disappointed in degrees varying from injury disappointment to complete cratering. Of course all have another half season to improve their play. The other complicating factor is that they are all slow (except Martin) and all are below average or worse defensively. Unless something changes dramatically most of these guys shouldn’t be counted on when planning for 2026.
  12. I feel like the Twins are like the Wild - a team stuck in mediocrity. Not good enough to go deep in the playoffs but not bad enough for high draft picks. I’m skeptical that any of the players listed will fetch much in return but I guess lottery tickets can payoff. The lineup needs a real jolt this off-season.
  13. Trans athletes is a complicated situation for which I have no right answer. One would need to understand the biology and physiology of the transition process at a minimum. The fact is there are an incredibly small amount of these situations. My daughter has a good friend who is a trans female. The amount of hatred, bigotry and discrimination she experiences daily would crumple most of us. This is happening to hundreds of thousands of people on a daily basis in our country. This is what I am concerned about and what I believe should get the most attention.
  14. Thanks for that. I was wondering about Knoblauch in the minors as I believe he stole 55 as a rookie in the bigs? It would also be an interesting thought exercise to try and translate stolen base numbers in the minors compared to the bigs n
  15. I don’t know what constitutes “ breakout” but I would nominate the Cedar Rapids combo of Culpepper, Winokur, DeBarge and DeAndrade. All of them could lay claim to being a legit prospect at SS and all have swung the bat fairly well or better.
  16. I wonder what the single season record is for steals by a Twins minor league player? DeBarge is really having a season in that regard.
  17. I also really like the concept of viewing pre-arb talent as a resource, not dissimilar to free agency payroll. It probably be the main criteria by which a front office should be judged. With lots of it you all things are possible: trades, money for free agents etc. Without it, larger contracts for filler players, less money for really good players and a whole lot scrap heap type acquisitions.
  18. We are all human beings that deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. It’s that simple.
