  1. I wish all up and coming power hitters would watch video of Harmon (yes I’m old). He obviously had tremendous power but had a concise, no nonsense swing that gave him a great chance to barrel the ball. I can remember him in a relaxed athletic stance with his bat on his shoulder while the pitcher got the sign. He simply lifted the bat when he was ready and pulled the trigger. No ridiculously high hands or big leg kick. Balanced stride and boom.
  2. I’ve got a wild and crazy theory: Royce isn’t talented enough to be a big leaguer. Injuries have not helped him for sure but he has logged enough healthy time that he should be showing something. I also don’t buy blaming it on the Twins: he’s had a bunch of different coaches over his career. Is it more plausible that every single coach was clueless or that Royce isn’t good enough? If you honestly assess him he is a one tool player: power. He doesn’t make contact well, his swing decisions are poor, his arm is average strength and erratic and his glove is inconsistent. His speed has returned some but he’s not a burner. As a third baseman his ceiling is average hitter and average fielder. That’s the ceiling - we probably will see something else. And I’m not judging his attitude like some do - I don’t know the guy so I just stick to his on field play.
  3. How do you know?😀. He battled in all his plate appearances and did not help the pitcher out.
  4. Taj was effectively wild. More than a few times errant 97mph fastballs had hitters dancing out of the way. He threw just enough strikes to get the job done. Keaschalls abs look much better as he isn’t chasing at all, neither is Martin.
  5. How come every time our reliever gets three outs I feel like we walked away from a plane crash?
  6. I like how Taj saves his curveball for strikeout situations. He doesn’t throw that many but they are effective.
  7. Curious if Bell had the green light. If yes he didn’t offer at the best pitch he could expect.
  8. Denard seems like a fine fellow but he offers nearly nothing to a broadcast.
  9. Good observation. His bapip is something like 380 so regression is likely.
  10. Great news. Hopefully he stays healthy going forward so the option of trading him at the deadline is available. Bullet dodged.
  11. Don’t want to be that guy but he’s 23 with a 100 wrc+ at AA. He is also considered a sub par defender so something would have to change drastically for him to even sniff the show.
  12. Chris Paddack was dfa by the Marlins. And no I don’t want him back.
  13. EmRod with 31ks in 80 plate appearances. Uffda. I really want to see him with the Twins but I’m afraid he is going to get eaten alive in the show.
  14. Martin has been fun to watch I can’t believe teams are walking him still. Happy for Larnach - I was one that did not want him back but he has had a really good start. The increase in walks is impressive. That bapip has to regress fairly soon.
  15. Our favorite club is 15-20. Assuming 85 wins are needed to make the playoffs (who knows the exact number) the Twins would have to go 70-57 the rest of the way to get 85 wins. Obviously anything is possible but that is a tall order for this club. What percentage chance would you give them? im thinking 15%. What say you?
  16. Sim throwing 96-97? I watch most Twins games and I’ve never seen that. He’s been a disappointment this year but with the injuries we are going to need all the starters.
  17. This organization has been rudderless for a decade. To blow it up at the deadline last year, eliminating any realistic chance of competing but hang on to Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers when they have limited team control is the height of stupidity. They aren’t winning this year and they took two incredibly valuable assets and turned them into nothing. The inevitable rebuild just got lengthened by 2-3 years.
  18. We can have a larger discussion in a few days after we have more info about Ryan but the decision to “go for it” by TP is looking like a catastrophic mistake for the franchise.
  19. I’m actually thinking the additions of Caratini and Jackson signal the Twins have planned all along to trade Jeffers at the deadline regardless of team standings. There are a bunch of things I like about Jeffers but he is a pretty poor defensive catcher.
  20. Rant: getting hurt diving head first into first base is really dumb on a bunch of different levels not the least of which is that it’s been proven that the fastest way to get to the bag is to run through it. This guy has way too much of an injury history to be doing stuff like this. They should just make him quit head first slides after multiple thumb injuries.
