  1. Just put him in the bullpen if he comes back this year. Since they're stuck having to pay him in 2025, I'd start him out in the 'pen next year too.
  2. Ummm. Jack Morris was pretty ok in 1991 as well :)
  3. Lopez, Ryan, Ober, SWR are all under contract in 2025. Kids like this are the reason the FO isn't looking to add a pitcher at the deadline that would be on the payroll next year.
  4. With Varland and Paddack inevitably headed to the bullpen in 2024, Henriquez is an easy DFA for me. Unless they give Farmer the Joey Gallo treatment and put him on the 60 day IL with his "injury"
  5. Stewart, Topa, Varland (it's inevitable right?) and Paddack (also inevitable right?) strengthen the bullpen. Lewis, Correa and Miranda coming back solidify the lineup. What's left? Starting pitching (like every other playoff contender). If anyone thinks they're adding an impact starter they haven't been paying attention to what ownership is doing to tie the hands of the FO. My call? It's going to a back-of-the-rotation starter to help get the to the playoffs. One they can get cheap. Then they'll be forced to ride with Lopez/Ryan/Ober and hope for the best.
  6. Good lord....NO!!!! For the record, going old school, Rick Aguilera was also a "failed starter". Jax has worked hard to become maybe their best reliever (considering Duran's up and down performance in 2024), why mess with a good thing?????
  7. 1000% no chance that DeSclafini was the main piece. He was a salary throw in. Gonzalez and Topa were piece #1 and #2. I hated to see Polo go, but thought this was a really good get for a declining 2B. If Bowen ever contributes as a starter or as a reliever, so much the better.
  8. Huge ABs from Julien and Kiriloff. Great work by the bullpen. On Desclafini...he was basically a throw in to make money work. That trade was for Topa and the Mariners' #4(5?) prospect.
  9. Was interesting/surprising to see Margot at DH wasn't it? Castro in LF in game one. We'll find out soon if they think Martin is better in LF than Margot.
  10. Figured this would be the move. Miranda basically isn't throwing and has been working only at 1B. I assume this move means Willie Castro will see a bunch of 3B and Martin will play LF
  11. I coached HS baseball. How on EARTH do you have a kid who can throw mid-90s and NOT have him pitching?! :)
  12. 100%...wish he was a little better defender beyond the Howitzer of an arm. I really do think his bat and (more importantly) his approach will play. I really don't think OPS of .780+ with 25+ HR is out of the questions. Plus, with this lineup, he can hit in the lower half where he won't have too much pressure.
  13. I've lived in Minnesota all 56 years of my life. Been a die hard Minnesota sports fan. It really is amazing how we just expect the worst isn't it?? And I say that with a chuckle. Here's hoping Matt Wallner just is that good. 25-30 HR, .800+ OPS, etc..!!!!!!
  14. So St.Paul has Lee, Miranda, Martin, Larnach, Severino, Camargo in its lineup. Varland, SWR, Festa, Headrick, Canterino (??) in its rotation. Funderburk, Alcala, Sands, Canterino (??), etc in the bullen. On the surface that seems like a pretty good group of depth options across town.
  15. If he's choosing from four teams he's not signing for the minimum, which would make sense for the Twins if they could move Farmer. I just dont see the need given the current roster.
  16. He's likely the best bet to get a top half of the rotation starter I'd guess. Thought they should think about keeping Polo to play 2B this year...with Lee or Martin waiting in the wings. Maybe Polo being gone doesnt change that?
  17. Couldn't agree more. For an organization that saw enough value in Julien to trade Polanco, they should be able to see enough value in Martins approach as well.
  18. Just look at the picture.....geez, the kid is only 18 and already LOOKS the part!! Then watch video of the swing. IMO Walker Jenkins is untouchable in trade talks.
  19. The idea of this kid coming out of the bullpen in October is pretty intoxicating.
  20. The ability of our beloved Minnesota Twins to be consistent contenders will depend on their ability to develop players....both pitching and position players. I think 2024 is the time to see if Austin Martin can play at the MLB level or not. He may go up and down multiple times...like Tori Hunter did for example, but I want to see him get minimum 200 ABs this season. If/when Buxton has to miss extended time, I want this kid to be the relacement. Time to take off the training wheels.
  21. For me, could've stopped after the first two. Stuff+ and Age. Enough said. As he better learns all of the other aspects of pitching, I believe he'll be just fine.
  22. As a 56-year old, lifelong Twins fan....who also has been scarred by bullpen ineptitude for chunks of the past decade, I just assume the answer is no. But...let's hope yes!!
  23. Does this mean Provus is going back to radio? :) If I basically can't watch them, I'd much rather listen to him than Atteberry.
