    Keirsey is 26 in AA with only a .840 OPS (That would be an awesome if he was say 22) why would they waste a 40 man spot on a guy not likely to be anything more than an injury replacement? Now, maybe they trade off a Larnach or Wallner and Keirsey gets put on it this year and gets some time in the majors. I agree with Martin, maybe on Enlow because of where he was drafted, and maybe Severino because of how much money was spent. Maybe Carnargo if they believe his future position is catcher, because he is young for a catcher prospect.,

    Just to point out Keirsey just turned 26 (76 days younger than Larnach and older than AK and Wallner) and is in AA, I don't consider him a prospect so I wouldn't worry too much about adding him to the 40 man. Funderburk will either be added this year because he is so good or they need him, otherwise there is zero reason to add a 27 year old minor league player to the 40. Same with Williams, all of those players are on the older or way older side for prospects except Rodriguez. My thoughts are only Martin gets protected and that is only because of the Berrios trade, maybe Enlow because of where he was drafted.

    I believe the Rays would think he is a problem (this year), since Vidal Brujan is the only guy on the Rays with a lower OPS than Miranda. But you are correct if AK, Lewis, Miranda, Julien, and even Lee were all hitting really well, it wouldn't be a problem (or it would be awesome problem to have) to figure out a how to get all those guys 130 plus games or more, you just have to deal with a bit of defensive limitation occasionally.

    Not aimed at just you, but he turns 25 in two weeks and is in the minors. When Hunter was 25 he was 21st in MVP voting, so I wouldn't consider that a comparison at all. Yes, young players do go up and down all the time and become solid major league players, generally when they are 21, 22, 23 (Buxton for example) Miranda was basically 24 when he came up so he isn't going to be afforded the opportunities that (Hunter, Buxton, Polanco, Kepler, Rosario) and a host of others that came up much younger. The FO understands that you are super talented and will give more chances, the older you get the less chances you will be given because some other super talented young guy needs looks as well. When you are 24/25/26 years old you are getting competition from both sides (vets and prospects) it just makes it all that much harder because you have so much less room for error. For example if he didn't play well he was going against Farmer and Lewis.

    I really liked Martin in the trade and thought he had some real potential, he turns 25 right around the start of next year, and if by that time he isn't in the majors, he is just another player that will hope to make majors and last a few years as a utility type guy (Gordon for example), maybe and hopefully I am wrong, but guys that age usually aren't given a job with a long leash and told go and figure out, why because there usually is a higher priced vet or a higher rated prospect. (I see Wallner as the example of that) Guys that age need an opening (injury or trade that opens up a spot) and then play so well they take that spot and don't give it up. So good luck Austin as a fan I want him to be awesome and super successful, as a realist I understand that isn't likely.

    While all that may be true I wasn't commenting on making a playoff run to the series, I was commenting on " The Twins don’t stack up well against the projected playoff teams. " and unless something has changed the first round of the playoffs is a 3 game series, correct? So I do believe the twins match up against any and all teams in a 3 game series. After that it doesn't really matter to me since my belief was this FO just needed to win a playoff game this year (to keep their jobs), so winning the first round is just gravy. But for the record, Houston's 4th pitcher made 2 starts (of course Houston only lost two games), Philly (Wheeler - 6, Nola, 5, Suarez 3, Syndergaard 2, and they went with a starter once), The Yankees 4th starter made 1 start, and the Padres 4th starter made one start. Those are the 4 teams that made it to the league championship series and beyond, so count me as not concerned if Ober has to make a couple of starts in the playoffs. (and SD and Philly both had to play in the wild card series.

    I disagree we don't stack up against the playoff teams. Ryan starts game one. 5 amazing innings from Gray in game 2 Lopez game three. That moves Ober/Varland to the pen. So if they decide there is more to the game of baseball then homers and K's and try to scratch out a few runs, they could be any team in a series.

    You left out the Maeda trade, which I believe was a win (not a huge win, but a win), Dozier trade again win, Pressly trade which at this point is a huge failure. Alcala might turn that around but as of now. But as trades go for this FO I say they are in the positive, Ryan, Odo IMO outweigh the Pressly/Mahle trade, and the rest slightly favor the Twins.

    First let me say I believe there is ZERO chance of going after Goldschmidt, Soto or Ohtani. Second, I don't believe this FO has the backing of the fans to sellers at the deadline. Imagine how empty Target field could be next year with the way 19 ended (sweep), 20 ended (sweep), how 21 went (horrible), how 22 ended (embarrassing), and if 23 falls apart and they are sellers. So I don't see them as sellers. I also don't see much of prospect capital to go out and be big buyers (besides Lee I am not sure the Twins have anybody to headline a trade) but I could see them sell off a few pieces and acquire other pieces. Players like Larnach, Wallner, Martin, and maybe Miranda could be used to go get a decent outfielder with some control. None of these guys are young (I mean like real prospect young) and some haven't done anything sustained in majors yet so they probably won't return what most think they will. Those are 4 guys taking up 40 man spots (Martin next year) they aren't contributing much to the major league team and at some point they have to cut bait,

    The manager in a 9 - 4 game used Stewart leaving him unavailable today. That is on Rocco, Pagan is terrible but it isn't his decision when to go into the game. Is Jax not allowed to go multiple innings any more.? When you don't have a great bullpen you can't burn out all your best in one game then say well our 3 best aren't available today and lose the game with your worst pitcher on the mound. Bullpen management is one of the most important jobs of a manager, Bullpen management also is about how long a starter should go. I don't know why Gray was pulled after 5 innings and 76 pitches, but that was the start of bullpen management for the series. On a positive not they won a series and the bats where much better at scoring. they K'd 37 times which is way too many times.

    Fun to watch? He strikes out 37% or 40% of the time, depending on how you look at it of the time, has 3 doubles in 131 at bats. Has walked 10 times. He is exactly like what we are all complaining about at the big league level. Three outcomes, K, Out, homer. With that said he is almost 24 which for catchers isn't really that old of prospect so he has time to get better with the bat, he has never walked so I don't expect that to get any better. Would hope/expect to see him sometime next year.

    not ideal but if the choice is him or the current manager, Then Yes My hope would be they bring in somebody from the outside and say here is our general philosophy don't stray too far (especially from the pitching side) and you have a 100 or so games to prove you deserve the job. Hand him or her the keys and step aside, and lets see what happens. (I mean can it get any worse, since the last three games of the 2020 season the Twins have gone 183 and 209)

    I want nothing to do with this FO and manager in a rebuild. NOTHING! If they clean house and hire new people I can accept that (won't like it but can accept it) IMO if this FO want to save it jobs it fires Rocco, sooner than later.

    yes, that is exactly what I said. This team is nothing like the 87 teams, the 87 was fun to watch and won 85 games, this current team is not on pace for that. I hope like heck they can turn it around, I hope BB and CC figure their crap out. I hope players can stay healthy, I hope!

    IMO, they are destroying the team from within, I haven't forgotten 21 or 22, and how unwatchable this team is now. This team has lost 5 in a row, 6 of their last 10 and now are under .500. It is totally up to you to enjoy this team, I am pissed and disappointed in them. If they were in the East they would be 14 games back, if they were in the west they would be 10 games back. Imagine if somebody said the second place team in the division was 5 games under .500 and the lead was 2 games.

    besides Wallner, who are the adequate hitters in St. Paul? the highest OPS players are Larnach, Lewis, Farmer, AK, Wallner, Julien and Hlman.

    trading Gallo/Kepler/Sano doesn't mean tear down because all three could just be cut and it wouldn't really chance much now. Trading a bullpen piece like Maeda at this point also doesn't mean tear down because he isn't even pitching. They could probably trade Castro and/or Farmer and not mean tear down either. So yes you are correct, trading doesn't mean tear down, and I think they have some guys to sell, not sure what they would get for them since most aren't playing well. Did they or didn't they rebuild with the Cruz trade is kind of up in the air, right, I mean they didn't make the playoffs last year and with no turn around likely won't this year. So technically not a rebuild the end result is about the same. The real problem is their Stars are hurt/terrible, their top prospects haven't panned out and the prospects in the minors are not there? I assumed in my response to the other comment was, they were saying sell off anybody worth anything and start over.

    I highly doubt they would get anything of value for Kepler and Pagan, let alone a major league relief pitcher.

    I see little to no chance of this happening unless ownership agrees and guarantees this FO their job. (Huge mistake). They already did the trade away players for prospects and all it has gotten is two playoff sweeps and the last two terrible years and what is happening this year. I have little to no faith in this front office to rebuild again, and besides Polanco who are they going to trade? Gallo, Thielbar, Stewart and Gray? And in reality they can't take guys back in trades that require 40 man roster spots. This FO doesn't deserve another tear down with the trades and money they have spent. (By the way I agreed with the Correa signing and the Pablo and Gray trades, not the Gallo or Solano signings) This FO is stuck between a rock and a hard space, not really good enough (and probably don't have the prospects) to go out and improve this team, but not bad enough and don't have the players to trade and rebuild, unless they are going to give up on Larnach and Miranda) What they need to do is DFA Kepler and fire Rocco and hope this shakes up Polanco, Correa and Buxton to get back to being themselves and the new faces find something in Larnach and Miranda to get back on schedule. This acceptance of mediocrity is pathetic, sickening and all the other adjectives.

    Isn't that what they have done this year? Miranda, Larnach, AK, Lewis, Julien and Wallner a little bit, I get the swap Wallner in for Kepler but where are other prospects going to play? Trade Correa (Impossible)? Trade Polanco (not likely)? There are no other offensive prospects on the 40 man and in reality the only other one worth mentioning is Lee. Correa being terrible and this misguided idea of having Buxton as the everyday DH has truly limited this team and that is on the FO.

    All depends on the player, of course you will have to overpay this early but if you are trying to win that comes with a cost. Somebody like Grichuk shouldn't cost much. But in all reality what position would the Twins be looking? They are so medicore everywhere, but also have prospects or "young" players everywhere and they seem to be mediocre as well. The bullpen seems like a good spot but they have prospects taking up 40 man spots there as well. It seems like they would need to trade from there to get anybody else. Alcala, Balazovic, Canterino, Headrick, Henrquez, Sands, Winder, SWR.
