  1. When you have an asset like Berrios you don't win a trade by getting a utility player and a reliever. That is a bad trade and I don't care what Berrios does, even if he blows out his arm and never pitches again, doesn't take away the value of the asset at the time of the trade. The Reds had a lesser asset at the time in Gray and got Petty it, that is still TBD how Petty turns out. They also had another lesser asset in Mahle and got Steer and others. Steer has already surpassed what Martin has done in the less time. This BS talk about how much money the twins saved and utility player is only running cover for at this point a terrible, terrible trade. There is still plenty of time for it to turn around Matin and SWR aren't done.
  2. And that is why it is OK, to let a good starter go out another inning when they are pitching great. He took 6 pitches to get though the 9th.
  3. Why do all Twins prospects under this FO always have a long ways to go? They only guy they have brought up younger than 23 was Arraez (2019). They brought up Celestino as well but it is hard to count him.
  4. Stop that, the narrative is that he is just a league average pitcher. Averaging over 6 innings a start with a WHIP under 1. 😜
  5. and Julien and Jeffers, pretty impressive list for 7 years.
  6. Was replying to thread of that is why you trade prospects and his response. He seemed worried the Twins have traded a lot of prospects away that did well in exchange,(which I am not sure is really all that true, because up until like a year ago the Twins weren't much into trading prospects) And I was just pointing out for every prospect you trade that turns out decent there are dozens rated just as high or higher that don't.
  7. Can't agree with this. The Twins could have traded away Jay, Romero, Gonzo, Stewart, Gordon and a ton of others and got somebody back and didn't, so for every prospects that was traded and turned out well, there are dozens of more that didn't get traded ended up not amounting to anything.
  8. Maybe we should let Ted Schwerzler in on the secret, and he wouldn't have had to waste time writing the article. 😀 I can agree with you on that. So the trade shouldn't be considered a win/loss, it should be considered good/bad, because if you have an asset and you blow the return it should be considered bad. As of right now they have two great assets in Berrios and Pressly and as of now blew them, but they had a decent asset in Escobar and got value, thus a good trade.
  9. Not so sure a 25 year old minor league player that requires a 40 man spot is going to return what we hope he does. But it does seem like an overpay for a relief pitcher unless that relief pitcher is cost friendly with some control able years.
  10. Going on this logic, it is almost impossible to lose a trade, when trading a free agent to be, even if you basically get nothing you can't lose because a 1/2 year or even 1 1/2 of the traded player will never look bad. (maybe that is true) IMO you have to take into consideration as part of the trade review if the team signs the player to an extension.
  11. Can't agree with this at all, unless of course you saying Wallner could be traded for a relief pitcher?
  12. What you are suggesting is this FO is so bad that it would pick up a 10 million contract for a with a 98, 91, 98 OPS+ the last three years? But you might be right since they signed Gallo for 11 million (87, 121, 80)
  13. He was 23 in AA when he took off and prior to that was decent prospect at best (minus when he repeated Rookie as a 19 year old. )The real surprise was how he continued that into AAA. He started AAA in 22 and wasn't great, but then got called up and did really well. I had/have hope in him still, but I see him a bit different since he was in the minors 5 years prior to that.
  14. as of 7/5/23, the Twins have lost the trade, Martin is getting old real fast and SWR is regressing. Toronto has gotten 343 innings, he hasn't been great but this year has been good. At the Time the trade looked crazy good and still has some time to look good, but I think most of that rests on the Shoulder of SWR, Martin turning into the Gordon/Castro role isn't enough.
  15. So are you saying maybe be leery of older prospects that haven't always dominated on their way to the majors?
  16. Got to say I agree, if your prospects aren't making their debut until 24 (Miranda about a month or so before his 24 birthday) they just can't be given the same leash as a prospect that debuts earlier. The 40 man, options and other prospects just get to difficult to navigate. Severino turns 24 in October at some point he has to be given a chance right? Maybe even Martin he turns 25 by the start of next year. The Twins seemed to have backed themselves in a corner this year. Not giving Wallner (25), Keirsey (26), Williams (26) and others an opportunity this year when there were ample chances to do so. Wallner or Larnach should have been starting just about every game this year until they proven they couldn't, then they should have been pushed aside for the likes of Keirsey, Soularie. And if they all failed that is why they brought in Gallo, Castro, Talyor, and Solano, It looks like they will be going into next year in about the same spot as this year. Except swapping out AK for Miranda and Julien for Lanarch. Hoping they don't regress like Miranda did, but huge question marks in the outfield again, who backs up Buxton, who plays right and who plays left.
  17. In 1962 Harmon had 666 at bats, Gallo has 222 and has K'd 89 times(89*3 =267) Lets not compare Joey Gallo to the guy that took 3 in the MVP voting. Also Gallo hasn't gotten hot for a week. the most hits he has had over a 7 day period is 6, He has twice hit 4 homers in a 7 day period.
  18. .191/.312/.484/.796 - 13 million .268/.370/.379/.748 - 2 million Not sure the first one is really all that successful.
  19. Should have been listening to me for the last 3 years. 😀 j/k keep up the optimism!
  20. Well Rooker in May .198/.289/.327/.616 and June .191/.267/.353/.620 So I am thinking he would have fit in nice. Rooker being an all star is a Joke.
  21. Pablo Lopez just seen tonight lineup and said Kepler and Gallo both starting, f'n awsome!
  22. didn't you? I am confused Your quotes - "I have no idea how you can blame this FO for....." "they turned Arraez into Lopez and two minor league players. " "Also, we should maybe give them some credit for developing Arraez." They can't be blamed for a certain group, they get credit for trading an All Star and some credit for helping a player they inherited becoming an star. I understand you are done with this FO the same as me, I just don't get the rationale of who the front office gets to take credit for and who they don't.
  23. Should the front office and/or the manager be dismissed, who would be the most worthy replacement(s)? First I will take over the lead role, then I would hire @chpettit19 @Major League Ready. I respect their opinions, takes, knowledge on baseball and business, even though I have had big time disagreements most of the time I have come away with more knowledge than I started with. For the rest of the TD contributors send your resume there are so many smart people (too many to list) on here it seems like a good place to start the hiring process. Lets go and get this organization turned around into a winner!
  24. I stand behind my final statement. "IMO I think this puts Raya behind Berrios at least in his development, which isn't the end of the world. "
