Re-Grading the Twins’ 2026 Trade Deadline Moves
Whitey333 replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes i do like many of the younger players. I think it was pure folly to label yourself contenders. Just as much of a folly to not trade some veterans that likely wont be back and get little or nothing in return. Is a compensatory draft pick enough for Jeffers? Hardly. If the moves were meant to appease fans it hasnt worked. Twins will very likely finish with a second consecutive year of record low attendance at Target Fueld thid year. The upcoming work stoppage or lockout by the owners doesnt lay allowed the blame on them. The players need to make some reasonable effort to reach agreement on a new CBA. Just saying no is hardly worthy of a serious effort. Both sides need to compromise. Both sides should be ashamed and embarrassed if any part of 2027 is delayed ok canceled. Its disgraceful.- 52 replies

Derek Falvey "Someone of Interest" for Mets Front Office

Who cares? Lets watch Falvey mess cup another organization. It would be fun to see him wreck the Mets. -
Should the Twins Bring Back Josh Bell for 2027?
Whitey333 replied to Ray Stuedemann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I doubt the will bring back josh bell. Im always amazed how driving in runs, yes RBI isnt important anymore unless you are on a good team. Then their announcers and reporters brag it up. The fact that Bell is like 8th in RBI in the league is apparently of no significance. I also think he is replaceable for a cheaper option. Just like Byron Buxton. Buck should no longer be considered an integral part of the team. Why arent his RBI stats scrutinized and downplayed? -
Its so hard watching the Twins but i still do. I knowing I get negative on here but its because i have always loved the twins for over 60 years. I just get so frustrated watching them repeat the same thing for years. I would like to see some definite direction from the franchise. Do they have a plan? How do we actually get better and respectable? Many of the young players look good.

The Twins not trading any or all of Ryan, Jeffers. Larnach was a total waste of resources and a lesson on how not to build a team.. how can anyone count or plan on having Buxton and Ryan as your core? Buxton routinely plays under 100 games per year and Ryan in 50 career Twins second half starts has an ERA over 5.00. Very strange philosophy.

I too am optimistic about many of our young players. Unfortunately the statement from Peter "I cant wait until next year" is the same as it is every year. Cant wait until next year is the Twins marketing philosophy and has been for years. Great to see Jenkins kme up with 3 hits including hus first major league homerun off a pitcher. Recall his very first homerun was from a position player Pitching in a blowout game. Great job Jenkins!!

Well they split the season series with the Yankees this year at 3 games apiece. Not a great game but definitely entertaining especially from the 9th inning on. 10 games left. Tgen it's wait until next year. Where have i heard that before?

How Poor Is the Twins’ Core?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If the team still considers Buxton the center of it's core, they are in deep trouble. At age 33 and his long history of playing less than 100 games.- 69 replies

Another boring loss. Not unexpected. The yankees draw well as 27,000 people showed up. So many holes to fill again on this team. Maybe the writer should have listed all the stiffs we had gone thorough in the Pitching staff this year and acknowledge that Roger's was far from the biggest problem on that Pitching staff.

Interesting article. It solidifies the notion that the Twins have no direction. What tgey have been doing for the past several years hasnt worked. Relying too much on veterans to have a rebound season or an injury free one hasnt worked too well. Relying on prospects to not only make the major league roster but then assuming they will become allstars doesnt always work. A few prospects work out. Most do not. Twins sre in a tough position roster-wise. But its their own fault.

Joe Ryans 2nd half woes are not a recent phenomenon. Over 50 2nd half starts in his Twins career his second half ERA is over 5. Certainly not an ace you count on to get you into and progress through playoffs. I know hindsight is the perverbial 50/50 but the Twins should have traded Ryan, Lopez, Jeffers and others in 2025 to complete the changeover. This FO wreaks of incompetence. What have we gained by keeping those players? Another losing season. Third season in a row of late season collapse. Likely the second consecutive season of record breaking low attendance at Target Field. Those core veterans surely havent made a difference in getting to playoff baseball. I like baseball played by veterans that have some passion and can be productive. I like what ive seen from a lot of the young players. They look hungry to prove they belong. Too many of our current veterans have just been playing out the season each of at least the last three seasons. Has anyone noticed how Ryan Jeffers runs, no I mean almost walker to first on infield grounders? Its embarrassing.

Its amazing how you cant "fit" Keaschall into the defense. This team is currently 10 games under .500. For the third straight year the choked in yet another collapse. And you cant fit him in your lineup? Hes arguably been their best hitter. You still considering Buxton a core piece? Hes 33 years old with very dwindling skills. He needs to be left out of the equation. Leave Keaschall in right field. Let him learn the position. Be patient. Prospects arent instant hall of famers if they make it to the majors. Look at the great patience they have with Walker Jenkins. Im glad they do have patience. Jenkins is over matched and looks overwhelmed. Yet they rightfully keep playing him. Why shouldn't Keaschall be afforded the same opportunity?
-
Finally a good logical and common sense story about Buxton and his status on the Twins. He should not be considered a fixture in generally field anymore. He should not just be given that position and possibly be blocking younger players from playing. Now we could move him to DH and put up with more games missed just in a different spot. It is so past the time to move on from Buxton.

Joe Ryan has looked awful again in the second half of the season. This the third season in a row. It appear his great first halfs are over takes by fatigue the second half. Royce Lewis has been cooked for quite a while. Way over rated and over hyped. He needs to be gone for next year. Three straight years of a collapse. Not good. Looks like another record breaking lowest in attendance at target field this year.

Just another in a lo g line of articles about hoe great Buxton is. His contract is far from being just team friendly. He didnt have to sign that deal. Who forced him? Besides 100 million is great deal for a part time player. Hes totally undependable. Extend him? Absolutely not. Hes only played 2 "full" seasons s out of 10. And those weren't full seasons. We all got shortchanged by Byrons injuries. Especially Byron. What could have been, at least possibly. " when he plays" will be his epitath.
-
Great for Emma. Fun to see his energy. Audra Martin continues to believe people tune in Twins baseball to watch her. Good grief! Buxton for many years shows glimpses of his skills and makes us think what if he played and performed great while playing regularly. Serious people realize the past few years he has become more of a burden than a legit core piece of a winning roster. The injuries have robbed us all. I have always been a fan of veterans and thr leadership qualities. But im liking more and more what our young prospects bring two the team. Keep the rebuild going this offseason, if there is one.

Yes im of the group that says they should have traded them both. For a team on a payroll decline Lopez is way out of their price range. Ryan continues history career path of having very good first halfs then poor 2nd halfs. Thus has been the third straight year hr has had bad second half. Yes injuries are a part of it. But ryan injuries and poor play in 2nd half are concerning. Teams like Tampa and Milwaukee with smaller payrolls are successful in part because they are not afraid to trade star players and continually restock and reinvest. The Twins need to establish some direction. Otherwise they will continue on this rudderless boat heading nowhere.

I would switch Larnach and Lewis in this rating. IMO much more is expected of Lewis. He is currently hitting like .172 in his last 22 games. I do know there is a lot of Larnach haters here especially those submitting articles. Yes we wall wish he would be hitting like .275 like he did for a good chunk of the season. But he is what he is. I think given the season as a whole hes done well. Thus organizations insistence of using a platoon system us maddening. I guess you could also add Buxton to your list. However after 12 years of his limited ability do play and contribute we just get used to rim hurt and when he does played hurt hes not very good. A healthy and producing Buxton would have done wonder. But you cant count on him.

Twins Get Austin Martin Back for the Stretch Run
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I get a kick out of all the Larnach haters. Yes i wish he was better too. But you conveniently ignore his good first half but mention how cold he has been this past month. Well a lot of other players on this team should therefore be benched as well for being cold. Include Royce Lewis in that. Hes below average first baseman and is hitting .172 in his last 22 games. A month ok so ago Clemens was going throughout a terrible slump but thankfully they stuck with him. Martin? Just another in a long list of interchangeable outfield parts. So many strange roster moves this year. -
Yes blame it on losing Ryan and Buxton?? Sheesh Ryan has now been terrible and or injured in each of the last three seasons during the second half. Not much of an ace if he cant be counted on to contribute. Buxton? He did nothing for two months when he was trying to play. 2 "full" seasons in 12 played. Pretty pathetic. Dont conveniently blame this on injuries. That's what losers do. That's the Twins.

Byron Buxton Will Have Season-Ending Surgery
Whitey333 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The writer insinuated the Twins are giving up on the season because Buxton is shut down for the rest of it. Big deal. The past couple of months he hasnt helped the team at all. In actuality he has hurt the teams performance and their roster construction. He has only played 2 "full" seasons out of 12 with the Twins and those really weren't full seasons. This has been going on for 12 years. I prsise him for trying and his willingness to stay a Twin. But for quite some time now his on again, off again availability to play has hampered the team and the roster. Maybe its time for Buck to consider retirement. This idea for him to play at all costs us more of an ego thing. He maybe should think more of the team than himself IMO. -
Buxton should be on the listless. Talk about someone blocking prospects playing time? Ridiculous. He has only played 2 "full" seasons out of 22 years. And those really weren't full seasons. Here's like Lewis just clog cup the system. The problem is the twins unwillingness to trade any of them at better times to get optimal return. Now people talk about releasing them or not offering them a contract. Wasteful use of of resources.

Ranking the Twins’ Last Three Second-Half Collapses
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
2024 was the worst IMO. Now the point of the article? They choked each of the past three seasons. Why? Will this continue into next year? Why? What is it in the philosophical makeup of the Twins thats causing this? Fans deserve answers. Fans deserve better results. Im glad Falvey and Rocco are gone. Shelton is much better than Rocco but the jury is still out.- 27 replies
