  1. IMHO just do whatever it takes to re-sign him. He is a true pro and the Twins are short on those.
  2. I like the idea of having a set closer. A shut down type like Duran. Then a couple RH setup guys with a LH setup guy, where 1 of the 3 is capable of closing in a pinch. Then add 2 long relievers, (in a perfect world 1 RH & 1 LH) that leave room for a couple of mid inning guys with at least 1 LH, preferably able to get more than 3 outs per appearance.

    Lets go big!!

That would be a fun team to watch for sure!
  4. If the Twins could fix a reliever, I would think they would have fixed Pagan. I don't know if the Twins coaches are good enough to even try to fix a pitcher!
  5. what ever the plan was or became, it failed terribly. Burned out the pen which wasn't built for that many innings.
  6. they need multi inning guys, not more 1 and done! If the starters are limited to twice through the order thats usually 4-5 innings a game to cover, They have to get a couple of guys that can go 2-3 innings in the pen, or change the starters plan!
  7. A couple of decent to good long guys are needed. Better coaching would help a lot also. Starters that can average at least 5 innings per start.
  8. IMO the 1st step to improve the pen is getting at least 2 decent to good long relievers. This one and done is a sure fire way to expose and overwork the pen. The 2nd step is to try and get more innings out of the starters.
  9. With all the accolades given to Wes Johnson, he seemed more suited to turning starters into better pitchers, due to working on sliders. However, the pen seemed to stay stagnant the last few years. So you know what happens next, they promote the bullpen coach? This coaching staff just isn't very good. They use and abuse the pen, they don't seem to stress fundamentals, and are poor at improving players. Of course the FO has to accept a large portion of the blame with poor roster decisions, and they are the ones that make the decisions on who the coaches are!
  10. I can't help but wonder what his stats would look like if he was handled by a better coaching staff.
  11. I think its a gamble either way they go. Lewis has been either extremely unlucky or injury prone, and hasn't a real good track record yet. Lee is so green and the so called experts have dropped his potential quite a bit this last season. 2 years is an awful small sample anyway. Correa is pretty much a known commodity, although a very expensive one. What I like him is the way he takes control and is a positive influence in the clubhouse.
  12. IMO pitch framing will become obsolete in the next 1-3 years. Next year will start to provide the answer if base stealing will increase, I think it will. Between new rule about pitchers throwing over, pitch clock, larger bases, and move of 2nd I can't see how they won't. In the mean time, the teams that anticipate and react will have the advantage.
  13. Well that is wishful. I can't see judge settling for 35mil, and its hard for me to believe the Angels will trade Ohtani. But that would be a heck of a team!
  14. I don't see any catchers even close to Mauer's class in the game today. That said, there are a few that would be a big upgrade over Jeffers. Twins should have the payroll to get a good ss and a good c. Will they though or will they simply try to get by with mid-level talent and hope Jeffers develops and wait and hope for health on Lewis?
  15. what's the point? I like the old brand better. And why on earth do they need a "southwest" brand? How about a "midwest" brand? Put some water or woods picture on ut.
  16. I don't worry as much about hitting from the catcher as I do about his defense. Calling games and throwing out base stealers and blocking balls in the dirt are the 3 most important traits IMO. Hitting would be next and then "pitch framing" which I believe is one of the most over rated stats in the game today.
  17. I can agree that a part of the problem is pitchers not being able to hold runners better, and now the rules are changing to make it even harder for some pitchers to hold runners. That is why teams are going to need to have catchers that can throw. IMO the "pitch framing" ability should be no more important than throwing.
  18. IMO pitch framing isn't as important as throwing, and blocking. I believe in the near to very near future there will be some sort of auto strike zone called.
  19. IMO Jeffers is going to be a decent hitter but I think he's going to be embaressed (along with several other catchers) with the larger bases and change of 2nd base location. A couple of inches should make a big differance in success. Unless teams can teach pitchers to hold runners better (which is also going to be harder with rule changes) I think steals will be up a lot!
  20. IMO the FO can take an awful lot of the blame this year. investing in so many players with known injury concerns.
  21. Not going to happen. Great player, but the price tag is way too high. If Lewis and lee are both traded who is next up at ss?
  22. I don't think any of our starters were GB type pitchers, and most of the pen was put together with strikeout type of guys. I watched all the games they plated the last couple years and I don't recall seeing any hits on the ground that looked like Correa should have gotten, However, there have been others when C4 wasn't playing that I thought he would have made plays on.
