  1. Ah..... the TD darling. I am really loving his hitting. It certainly is making the darling lovers ignore the 3 errors in 7 games (and other plays in the field that looked like errors but batters were given gift hits instead)...... and the no walks and lots of K's, and I wish he could steal bases. But in this land of conditions he is not above suspicion. It is a long season, but he is high on the love meter right now.
  2. Baltimore lost something like the first 12 Spring Training games..... and they stand as the last undefeated team in baseball. Go figure. As much as we want spring training to mean something..... it never really does.
  3. But, but........ Dozier and Plouffe say we have a playoff team!
  4. Last year has nothing at all to do with this year. Especially winning 20 games in May. It is what it is. Fans deserve better. My preseason position was that Perkins is cooked, Jepsen was fools gold, Fien should have been non-tendered, May should be in the rotation, Tonkin should be in Korea, Abad was a reclamation project that a full year would totally expose as another in a long history of Terry Ryan's misguided and paralyzed by hope moves, and the bullpen would be challenged, especially trying to hold the lead. I guess the advice is I should not re-think that?
  5. J.T. Chargois? I would think he is in the mix sooner than later.
  6. I believe your math is a little fuzzy. I get 12 runs scored, 26 runs given up. Average margin in loses, (14/6) 2.33 runs per game. I think that even supports what you are trying to say better. But........ it still doesn't change that a loss is a loss is a loss. I also feel Ryan's arch of usefulness has come and gone (years ago), and that there never has been a rebuild (something that many fans like to make up though) but a gradual restocking mixed with mediocre veteran players, and many dumpster diving signings.
  7. Nope. You are saying that. I am just musing about what is happening. If I wanted to say something other than I do, I would.
  8. None of what happened last year is an indicator of anything that will happen this year. It is almost as hard to lose this much as it is to win the 7 in a row. Long season... blah blah blah....... there is some bad karma being taken out on this team. I don't know what it is, but something is terribly out of whack. Plus, whether you lose by 10 or 1, it is all about the result. Period. I could fool myself, and lie to myself, but i prefer not to.
  9. Law of averages says that this never should have happened, doesn't it? Even TD darling Escobar, who is one of the only ones actually hitting, is contributing with his 3rd error in 7 games at short today.
  10. I second the Terry Ryan boot, but I don't agree with we need more average vets. And I would love to see Mientkiewicz, too. I wanted him instead of Molitor last year. Maybe this is the reason for all of this. To finally get the house cleaned. How long can Pohlad take this?
  11. Wow. This team is just not ready... two years in a row, for the season to start. All the cocky talk from Dozier and Plouffe, the team leaders (it almost makes me choke to type that) in spring training, and look how they are leading. Time for a real rebuild? Do they have to go 0-10 first? 5-20? Wow. Twins' fans deserve way way way better.
  12. Hirschbeck seemed to see this pitch #4 quite differently, too........ some strike 3. But then, perhaps he missed pitch #1, too? Probably not. Just high. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. 75% is good enough for baseball? I guess Sano deserved to get punched out. He should have swung at a pitch that was clearly a ball, even if he was talented enough to see that he shouldn't?
  13. I seems that there is some extrapolating upon what I actually said, the points I made, and a different focus and spin, making this just about "complaining" about the umpire. I presented a robo ump that did call the pitches different. The other one offered is more correct? It seems that their "zone" is all the same size for every batter. I don't think each player has the same size zone. In fact, I know they don't. I support not getting the best pitches and takes wrong, and that the point is never to make the pitch get more of the plate than absolutely necessary. Huh?
  14. People are trained by years of ineptitude of humans, who are trying mind you, but still guessing...... to accept wrong calls from perfect pitches or perfect takes, and call them borderline as if that makes it all ok. The whole point of pitching is to make the close pitches, and never make "rock solid" meatball strikes! For a pitcher or a batter to be robbed of the perfect pitch or perfect take is a travesty and always has been, and always will be, until humans are no longer relied upon to guess and get so many wrong in so many games in so many important situations. The count, or any other pitch in the current or any other at bat, should have no consequence whatsoever with a correct or incorrect call for any subsequent pitch. Ever. Absolutely nothing. For an umpire to force a pitcher to make pitches that are giving a batter an unfair advantage, or to make a batter swing at pitches that are balls because they will call them strikes anyway, is robbing the game of the players.... the human factor.... deciding the games' outcomes instead of umpires.
  15. I don't think Sano in the outfield is a danger to his own health - I think that Sano is a danger to the health of his teammates! Particularly Buxton, Dozier, and Mauer. Buxton especially, as he would probably be going at a terrific speed if they collided. I was happy to see Sano stick up for himself on that horrible call by plate umpire John Hirschbeck. The pitch he was tossed over was way outside and called a strike 3. Sure, arguing is an automatic ejection, but that was a horrible call. Hirschbeck needed ejected. (Hirschbeck then called several balls strikes that May threw in the 10th). It was great that Sano did get booted, because Kepler had a great at bat and a great catch that Sano would never make in the 9th.
  16. I bet not. I bet he doesn't even get the next start in game 7.
  17. It certainly doesn't help when a plate umpire can't get calls right. Trevor May was hosed by plate umpire, John Hirschbeck in the 10th. First on the 4th pitch to Colon that led to the lead-off walk. Then on the 5th pitch to Moustakas that was literally a perfect pitch in the very upper outside corner of the strike zone that gave the Royals another unearned walk.... ...... and Hirschbeck continued with the ineptitude in the Cain at bat, by calling Trevor May's second pitch, another great pitch in the upper outside corner of the zone, a ball (a correct strike call would have made the 4th pitch a strikeout). May is led to think and acccused of being wilder than he was. As long as humans call the balls and strikes, baseball will continue to embrace inept plate umpiring. Pitchers and batters deserve better.
  18. From the album: Umpire calls

Plate umpire John Hirschbeck continues to miss the high part of the zone and calls Trevor May's pitch #2 a ball in the critical Lorenzo Cain at bat. The correct call would have made pitch #4 a strikeout.
  19. From the album: Umpire calls

With two outs in the critical 10th inning, John Hirschbeck called a perfect strike by Trevor May (pitch #5) a ball that gave another gift walk to the Royals, this time to Moustakas.
  20. From the album: Umpire calls

While John Hirschbeck called a pitch that was way outside a strike against Sano in the 7th (for which Sano rightfully objected) and then booted him from the game, he called a pitch on the outside edge a ball that was a strike against Trevor May in the 10th, and gave an unearned walk to Christian Colon of the Royals.
  21. From the album: Umpire calls

Sano was ejected for being upset with Hirschbeck for the 4th pitch..... which was way outside.
  22. Fans deserve way better than this comedy of errors. Something is so not right. Karma is screaming.
  23. Very nice to see. Is Jay on a pitch limit? Going only 80 when you are cruising seems a little light. I know, I know..... he is being converted, but still. 80 pitches seems a little light, nonetheless.
  24. This team is just bad right now. Mostly the offense is really bad for 4 games. But there is not a team flow that wins. It is getting real old to watch this team come out of spring training with what appears to be promise, and then fail. Whether Gardenhire or Molitor is manager, Hunter is brought back to dance, Sano is in right field or Schafer is in center, Santana is suspended for cheating or gets rewarded the next season with the opening day start, Dozier thinks he is a leader or is anointed the team leader, D-san starts at short or Escobar does, catchers play the outfield or actually catch, or the bullpen sucks or the bullpen sucks.......... this team just doesn't seem to be able to be ready when the season actually starts and the games count. It is really frustrating as a fan.
