  1. The best news I read here is that Perkins spent 6 weeks in Fort Meyers and actually WORKED OUT! I hope Dozier spent some time doing the same. A lot of time. Mauer too. And I don't mean kind of. I hope they have all changed their lifestyles a bit and take it seriously that they haven't been able to last a whole season two years in a row. I don't think Perkins was over worked at all. I think that is his job. The key is to develop a lifestyle that keeps your body ready and develops endurance, especially as you age. Mauer and Dozier and Perkins were not doing that, and it was telling in the second half of the season. Sure, there are the few fatties that one could site, but I wonder how good they could have been/be if they cared about their body as part of the million dollar contracts.
  2. I think the record is skipping again.........
  3. Posting fees are not salary. They don't even go to the player. I consider it spending some of the money that they didn't spend in 2012 and 2013 and 2014.... when there was still no limits on the budget. It certainly isn't part of this year's salary figures. The Posting fee is part of the budget for the year, but it is not payroll. It is an expense, like travel, per diems, uniforms, etc......... but not payroll.
  4. "Since 2010, his ERA+ have been 96, 146, 94, 163, 95, and then 129 in 2015." This is his off year coming up. Don't sign him.
  5. "Since 2010, his ERA+ have been 96, 146, 94, 163, 95, and then 129 in 2015." This is his off year coming up. Don't sign him.
  6. In other words, or my words...... It has to do with total opinion and bias with no firm criteria and standards, and everyone has an opinion, among other things. It can still be fun, though.
  7. Projections - predictions. They can call it what they want if it makes them feel better. If I project what a player will do, I will be using projections to make a prediction, projecting my prediction, and making a project of it. "projections aren't predictions because projections can't predict sequencing and they know some players under-perform and over-perform their projections." Predictions aren't projections because predictions can't project sequencing and they know some players under-perform and over-perform their predictions.
  8. My projection is.......... that at the end of the season and when the final records are in, Fangraphs will look stupid, and not one of the projections will be within 5 games.
  9. The fall of Alex Meyer. Stewart still rated just because he was a high draft pick. Hasn't Park signed a major league contract? If so, how does that make him a prospect? And is Buxton trying to set a record for how long he can be on the top prospects' lists?
  10. I guess that is a no comment on the Twins' speed and on the Twins not taking the extra bases themsleves?
  11. I think that focusing on a not so swell 83-79 record instead of a 2nd place finish that involved tanking at the end of the season again and going 1-4 in the last 5 games, with a 3 game home losing streak to end the season in which the team only scored 1 run a game in the final home series......... is a more accurate representation of the reality of the progress. It was a pretty paltry 2nd place finish, but yes, it was good enough for 2nd in the central, and barely over .500. Talking heads seem to know less and less, regardless of whether someone gives them a check for what they ramble. KC was picked to not do well and not get close to the 2014 season for 2015. I can't believe that the Twins' bullpen, the biggest problem, was not addressed at all. One could say there is still time, but only giblets are left to chose from.
  12. It sure seems that for all the speed that is touted, the Twins have difficulty getting from 1st to 3rd on singles, even singles to right, and also scoring from first on a double. I don't have stats to back that up, but in so many games, the opposing team would do it, and the Twins would not. Also, I really expected that the stolen bases would be coming last year with Molitor as the manager, but alas, that was a dream, too.
  13. I heard he has been practicing playing left and right field by playing MLB video games.
  14. I like that better than considering a player like Buxton, with 129 ABs and one short of the "minimum" still a prospect. Of course, then there is the emergency call ups that are no longer considered a prospect (like Polanco), which is also a disservice to prospectism.
  15. Arcia (25 in May) did quite fine until the extended stay with the Twins, and then still hit 20 homers in 2014 while his average suffered. Vargas (26 in August) hit well in 2014 , too. In 2015, Arcia hit .276 before he was cast off to AAA. That .276 looks pretty good when stacked against the whole rest of the team's performances in 2015, eh? But then Arcia tanked AAA. I really feel that Arcia and Vargas will star elsewhere, but the Twins staff just are not "Phil Jackson" enough to get the best out of the boys from Venezuela and Puerto Rico. They don't know what to do. I fear they will go elsewhere for little return and the FO has once more hoarded redundant assets until their value is several times lower than it once was.
  16. I can understand the perspective that it takes more than a half season to "breakout". Danny Valencia, Danny Santana, Kennys Vargas, Oswaldo Celestino Arcia, Josmil Oswaldo Pinto...... Scott Diamond ....... it takes more than a short halfish season or less to assign a breakout for me.
  17. "After belting 15 homers in Triple-A to earn a promotion, Sano hit 18 homers to help keep the Twins in the American League wild-card hunt down the stretch." How much credibility can one give a writer that reports Sano's history wrong, or doesn't even know that Sano never played AAA ball?
  18. When you break it down like that......... what record will the rotation be breaking? The record for mediocrity?
  19. This year, again, for sure........ and every year after that.
  20. It is pretty amazing how well some people can successfully "guess" when someone is lying. It is quite a talent, actually. Children, spouses, co-workers....... sometimes the evidence is in the expressions, micro-expressions, and other behavior, and conclusions correct, regardless whether it meets the "court of law test", which certainly isn't the greatest test, as history has shown. I cannot make a judgement on the "hitting and choking" his girlfriend accusation, as there was absolutely no physical evidence reported able to be collected to substantiate that claim, and that was immediately after the incident happened. Not all states allow one to shoot a gun inside a house when not in self defense (crazy Florida lets you have a shooting range on residential property!) Shooting the gun, even alone in the garage with the other people around....... that is just nuts and certainly would intimidate me, and I would be leaving immediately if not sooner. Chapman sure can pitch, and that is not a guess.
  21. Thank you! I did not know of these incidents. On the surface, someone angry at being accused by Chapman of being involved in human trafficking doesn't doesn't raise a flag to me, and neither does the accusation if Chapman knew it to be true. And speeding a bit doesn't really either, as all drivers speed, all the time, whether it is 5 or 10 or 15 mph or more over the limit. It is the drunk (or not drunk according to them but over the limit if tested) drivers that think they are OK to drive and drive the speed limit that are the criminals and way more dangerous.....) Driving on a suspended license..... probably not smart to do in conjunction with speeding, but not really a huge deal. Where are the videos when you need them, eh? The shooting in the garage is alarming.
  22. It seems that Buxton is trying to set the record of time being a top prospect. What is it.... 8 years now? Is he 30 yet? (just kidding... it only seems like that - all that hope and dreams). 1 at bat and he would be unqualified. To me... the one at bat deal makes it a bit cheap to consider him a prospect, regardless whether he is "officially" qualified or not. Milking it for everything it is worth. I sure hope he becomes a player and not a prospect sooner than never. Congrats on your "the top source for Twins prospect information". Here's to writing a "Dream Year for the Twins" book after winning a World Series!
  23. What are the other incidents you refer to for Chapman? The 2 others that I am aware of have to do with his ex-girlfriend. One was a noise complaint when she was having a party at the house they then were cohabitating and he wasn't in town and the police came, and the other was again involving his ex-girlfriend/mother of child, when she allegedly used a key she wasn't supposed to have after the breakup and "broke in" to the residence she was no longer living in to get clothes and furniture, and it set off alarms. Are you aware of other reported incidents? I cannot comment on the he said she said about a choke with no evidence or marks, but find the gun play alarming, even if it was with him alone in his garage (with lots of others in the house). He sure is a good pitcher.
  24. Incident? or Incidents? So very true. Is eight anger filled shots into a concrete wall a mistake? Maybe one.... but after you realized the gun was loaded, certainly not the next 7. Is one pat on the butt a mistake? How many times and it is still a mistake or does it become malicious uninvited entitled behavior, and not a mistake? Kirby's behavior was a habit, and I don't see how it can be called a mistake. Same with Chapman. I find it easier to forgive and give someone second chances, if they realize themselves that what they did was not a mistake, a behavior that they did that was purposeful, and make changes and admit that it was not a mistake, but a behavior that they are admitting to being done with purpose, and are apologizing and getting help to change.
  25. Shhhhh. Nobody really likes to talk about Kirby's cravings (and it seemed that it was only after his playing days, anyway, right? and fooling around or trying to fool around isn't really domestic abuse . His wife was pretty tough, though, as Kirby's mistress found out.) Chapman will be available again soon, though. The gun play in anger inside a dwelling ... eight shots with one out a window into unknown destinations......... is pretty disturbing, and that is by Chapman's own admission. I admire the Dodgers for backing away from him at this point in time, and not surprised it was the Yankees that overlooked the behavior.
