  1. Harper probably should have run the ball out. I agree. Harper was loafing, and should have run the ball out. Molitor and Ryan might bench and demote and then trade someone like Aaron Hicks for doing something like loafing or not paying attention, and even if it is just spring training and not a real regular season game that really counts. I think Papelbon was right for telling Harper so. Williams should have, no? Everyone in the dugout probably should have told him so. A team player might have responded.... "You are right. I should have run it out. You never know what can happen. Next time I will bring it. Thanks for caring and getting in my face about it." Sure, eh? That's gonna happen. I think the games served is punishment enough for Papelbon's behavior of losing his temper from what Harper snapped back, and he will and should win his grievance. Washington ought to just settle and do if voluntarily. Why make a further issue of it. Harper was a contributing factor, in behavior and mouth. And it really is no big deal, here.
  2. An off topic AJ dig in a Papelbon thread. I guess sometimes, when someone has decided that they don't like someone and their behavior and sense of humor, that they can't help themselves, even in a dugout. I have always liked AJ's sense of humor (on talk shows and in interviews for example). I think Sheriff McCann's behavior - stopping a baseball game to interfere with something that he isn't even a part of - is more fitting for a jerk. But I like to laugh.
  3. Ha. Well, I didn't want anyone to think that I was referring directly to them, so I "edited" the workplace part out while you were responding, I guess. But I do believe that. Yes. Brothers that are not liking each other. Aggressive, proud, strutting, and in each other's face, passively and directly, and snap.
  4. This whole thing is another non story. Big deal. Like Papelbon had any intent at all to "strangle" anyone. Seriously? Squeeze the neck with intent to kill? Seriously? Strangle? The example of Torii Hunter's temper is a good one. Only difference - one was in the clubhouse and one was in the dugout. Many parents still do far far worse to their children, unfortunately, and the same folks that are miffed about this might be some that believe they have the right to "discipline" their children (I bet they don't want that on TV) the way their misguided parents did them. Tempers flared. People are so quick to judge without any real knowledge of the real personal history between these two, other than what they may read from attention seekers writing about it, or media talking heads beating it into the ground. Hockey players assault each other in almost every game (and not as part of the game, but an actual fighting assault, by law) with much more intent than this, and the crowd cheers. What do you expect from baseball players that will throw a ball at each others heads and jump out of the dugout with chests pumped pretending to be tough. It is what it is, and it was nothing, really. Two hot tempered adult children getting into a tussle. Trade him if you like, but give him his money back. I bet Papelbon wins this.
  5. I see you added an e on the purposeful never ending (and seeming allowed contrary to guidelines - or at least selectively overlooked or ignored) derogatory mis-spelling of Plouffe's name this time. From Poof to Poofe. Does that mean that he is becoming more endearing to you now? edit.....fixed.
  6. No, just because of the hat. I just can't stomach having to look at that hat anymore than forced to when he pitches against the Twins. Call me shallow, but it really annoys me. Youth, baby. Time to go with youth. No turning back.
  7. Damn, and I was thinking with no limits on the payroll (and coming from Terry Ryan, that has to be the truth, right?), it would be Greinke. And the Diamondbacks even have a limit, but say they can still spend more.......
  8. Casey Fien got tindered? Who did he hook up with?
  9. Ditto.
  10. What team did Kapish play on?
  11. So sorry to have mis-positioned the embrace. Thanks for setting me straight. I keep thinking about Ryan saying so often that he wasn't limited as to payroll, like he continues to say this year. A couple of those years he said that, he cut payroll. I don't know where this all falls within the representation of the truth or reality, but I hope he takes that to heart and actually unlimits himself this year. Seems that if that is true, the payroll not limited, it is time to sign an ace before they are all gone again. And that's the truth! https://youtu.be/GMeLHb_Q08Q
  12. It sure isn't an indicator that the bull pen is getting any better.
  13. That one is easy. If Fangraphs valuation says he was worth 15.9 million - then they are most certainly terrible. It will be nice seeing Pelfrey pitch batting practice to the Twins instead of giving up all those hits to the other teams.
  14. I don't know that just because someone had Sano start at shortstop, that that becomes his "natural" position. It reminds me of taking my sons to the first band meeting in grade school, and they had the kids try to blow the instruments (not a lot had changed since the 60's)...... and just because someone could get a sound out of a trumpet first, they became a trumpet player, or clarinet or sax, or percussion if they couldn't make any of them make a sound. They started him on trumpet (he had already fooled with his brothers), much to his disgust, but he plays sax as an adult very naturally, just as he wanted to from the start. Just because Sano started at short because of his athleticism at an early age, doesn't necessarily mean it is his natural position. I don't really know that there is such a thing. Everyone adapts and becomes differently. It is clear that the player no longer gets to really chose himself, though - what with all the know-it-alls that are everywhere.
  15. I wonder how far Buxton would bounce if Sano and he collided as they both are running full speed to get a fly ball?
  16. Wellllll....... just because you play someone in the outfield, it doesn't necessarily mean they were able to play outfield, at least well. Delmon Young played the outfield. Chris Colabello played first and outfield. Escobar played in the outfield. It truly is an unknown at this point, and just chatter. I don't remember Harmon to be a monster outfielder 1962-64 in his 26-28 year old seasons. But at the plate he had three great years - some of the best of his career, but I was only 7-9 years old, and he could do nothing wrong in my eyes. I would hate to see Sano never have the chance to see how well he would do and how fast he might improve at third base.
  17. I always have to go by what someone who knows how to express themselves says. Assumptions I have made in my life were too often, just that, and not what someone else meant, even though I extrapolated and assumed they did. It taught me not to speak for others. I can't be a third party that speaks for someone who I don't represent. If he meant "and adding to it", perhaps that is something he could have added to what he said. Perhaps he does. Perhaps he will say it himself. It seems like Plouffe is quite athletic, too, no? How about Plouffe taking some time in spring training in the outfield? Is it his arm? If he was to be traded at a trade deadline, wouldn't it make Plouffe more valuable in a trade to be proven versatile? Wouldn't it be more valuable to the Twins to be able to utilize his bat at times and know he could be adequate for some innings in the outfield? To not give Sano some time to develop at third seems irresponsible to me. I wonder how many other managements would keep him out of the position he was cultured to be, especially as he transitions into the show?
  18. Aaron John Hicks Ryan Murphy. I have a hard time with three namers already! Yikes. I wonder if he can play centerfield, too? (Of course he can, if he is on the Twins, eh? He can play anywhere, regardless of whether it messes with his head and has never played there before. He is athletic, right?).
  19. THAT'S THE SPIRIT!!!
  20. Same thing. Different words to self justify. Very pretty. The lie of omission and avoidance. This is the world we live in. It doesn't work in relationships very well, though, self admittedly, which is an indicator that one knows they are lying but telling themselves it is OK to cloak it when one feels they are dealing with a lower standard of relationship.
  21. Many, including me, might say, that there is no time left to embrace Terry Ryan, and the ship for that sailed years ago. I too, am a Plouffe fan and don't want him traded, unless it is at the trade deadline and Sano has shown promise at third. How is the pen looking these days?
  22. In your opinon, perhaps. A rebuild is not accomplished by adding older players, unless they are aces or all-stars. Oh that's right, excuse me. According to the front office, there never was a rebuild.
  23. So you culture a shortstop converted to a third baseman all these years in the minors.......... and you give up on it just as he hits the majors and ask him to play a new position, and never give him a shot at third? You never even give him the same amount of time that someone like Plouffe had? This is just asinine. No strikeout pitchers and playing young players out of position in the outfield behind them. Please explain to me how this has any support at all. "For Ryan, the possibility of freeing some payroll and getting something back for Plouffe isn’t worth the trade-off. “We had trouble scoring runs last year,” he said. “We’re going to go with what we’ve got.”" If he feels "we had trouble scoring runs last year" why would you "go with what we've got", when it had trouble scoring runs? Park, at 29, does not make this team any younger, even it he can adapt, and not strikeout a record amount.
  24. ...... assuming the pronunciation that you heard was actually correct. Did it come from Park's mouth?
