  1. Definitely not.. ever, yes, no and no. And no.... not really waiting to see them. https://youtu.be/-fNvi6xG-5Y
  2. Since Park doesn't get the posting fee, and it didn't change from the time they won the bid, I can't consider it any part of the deal. It may be a cost to the Twins, but it is nothing to Park. The predictions of 4 to 5 years and 20 to 30 million had nothing to do with the posting fee. So much for the self appointed media hyped expert's opinions again. They are becoming less and less relevant. This is a deal that is fair. Fair to the player, and fair to the Twins. He still may end up a flop, and have "trouble with the curve", but now it is worth the risk.
  3. Seems I read a lot of opinions about how meaningless spring training performances and stats are right here on these boards. If that is actually true, what would be found out about Buxton's readiness in spring training?
  4. Great to see Berrios in the news. I can't wait for the shirtless off season workout pictures to start rolling in.............
  5. Sure... at $550K....... sign him up. Showcase the noodle arm. He can run bases in late innings, talk a walk (whoops - but he did have a career high of 32 last year in 634 PA's), smile, and would be a defensive replacement for Park (who he is still a year younger than....) or Murphy or Arcia or Sano or Santana or Mauer or Nunez or Escobar or Plouffe in the late innings when they are playing outfield. He could continue his power surge after 2 homers in each of 2014 and 2015. Oh...... and the singles will be nice, too. Hell, sign both Span and Revere, and then flip the pair of aging true outfielders at the trade deadline from the luxurious bounty of outfield surplus, and get us some AA pitching prospects! Hamburger, baby!
  6. Hey, I didn't think so either, but then I started reading the articles and entries and comments on Twins Daily, and it convinced me that fans and management alike seem to think they are.
  7. Well that summary makes it appear that Danny Santana is very, very consistent. Very interesting to to see it presented that way. I guess I can't argue, because stats never lie, right? The summary of Santana's MLB career to date sure doesn't tell the Danny Santana story. The tale of his time in two MLB seasons is anything but consistent. Maybe the above is who he is. Looking at Joe Mauer's career slash line, it certainly is not who he is now. I just don't think it is all quite that simple. Do you predict Santana will have a year that will reflect the above this year? It is pretty amazing how bad he had to be in 2015 to drag his "career" slash line in the show back down to what it is now, and how fast it happened.
  8. I think it could be quite attractive, to be flipped. It gives one the opportunity to shine with regular playing time, and then the possibility of playing in the playoffs with an even better team via a trade deadline trade. Anyone that signs a one year deal is probably looking at that possibility with the opportunity, and should relish it. If I was in their shoes, I would.
  9. I contend that they wouldn't have become without the failures that they overcame by getting ready in the show. If they are going to make it, they will make it no matter what the path. I think Gomez was just fine, but it was the management that tried to make him something other than what he was meant to be that stifled his progress, and it even took a couple years after the contamination to purge it.
  10. Buxton looks destined for AAA to start from his ineptitude at the plate in the show. Who is the real Danny Santana? The career minor league stat line, the amazing rookie season stat line, or the horrid Drew Butera type hitter of last year. Is Rosario destined for the sophomore slump? Will Buxton really hit in the show? Arcia? There could now be several reasons for the waiver wire, depending upon timing. A exciting possibility of a Hicks Buxton Rosario (Kepler) outfield of defensive prowess heading into the off season is now looking like a very iffy outfield with at least one Delmon Young impersonator in the field. Very disappointing. Murphy better be good and perform. If he doesn't, the Hicks for Murphy trade will make the Meyer for Span deal look good. Hard to believe that is even possible. Defense is so important with the pitchers assembled on this team. If you don't have strikeout pitchers, selling out the defense in the outfield is a rookie move by a GM, and this is the second go 'round for taking a supposed surplus and trading from supposed depth just when the team's prospects were becoming the players you spent years of investment and time preparing them for.
  11. Korea to Japan would be a move to a different league and country, too. The Japan comparison seems a fair thing to match then, perhaps, but not exceed. Are you considering that? I can't think of Korea the same as Japan any more than I can think of Canada the same as the United States or Norway the same as Sweden. So going to Japan or the US, he would certainly be making more than Korea, the current league and country. It is not my money, and I like the risk, even though I don't see his numbers in Korea any more significant than someone who murders AAA ball. At 29 though, it is like signing a life time AAA player to a pretty expensive contract. We shall see.
  12. 29 seems a bit old to be shelling out the dough. I hope they did more than watch youtubes this time. "A similar strategy could be used as leverage by Park, who could rate an annual salary in excess of $5 million in Japan should talks with the Twins break down, sources said." Seems they shouldn't offer him more than he would get in Japan, anyway.
  13. I think folks are drastically underestimating Plouffe's value. Come trade deadline in 2016, especially. Prospects, schmaspects. Some team is going to desperately need an above average proven third sacker, and Plouffe's value will surprise you. He will probably get to finally play in some meaningful playoff games. Prospects are the ones that are over-rated. I also think that relying on Perkins moving forward is a big mistake. He so obviously isn't taking his aging seriously and has no workout ethic to compensate for it. Hopefully the relief can come from the power arms in the farm sooner than later. Much sooner, like this year.
  14. Big rumor. Such a scoop. Plouffe might be traded? Other teams inquiring? First time I had ever heard about that. Those crazy GM's.
  15. I would bet just Buxton would not come close to making a deal happen.
  16. Since Berrios has never been in the rotation, and is a totally mystery as to what will happen ((albeit with very high expectations (hopes), of course)) to him anyway - you now have an ace to add, and a #5 or worse to drop out. I pretend I never had Berrios, and sport the new ace's jersey, an ace that I know I have, if healthy for, 3 to 4 years, and enjoy the change of scenery. Time to win a world series in the next three years. Nobody's situation is ever really clear. It can always all change with one pitch or slide or throw or dive or.......... and what once was clear is overcast or worse. Berrios could hurt himself in his off season workout routine, and never get to the show........ The rotation looks massively better with Fernandez in it, no matter who the rest of the guys are.
  17. Fernandez had movement on his pitches that you could see from the upper row in the upper deck of any stadium. I am not satisfied that Fernandez will be able to stay "back". That is the risk involved, or the part of his comeback that doesn't satisfy me. Just the time. But I agree totally, that he was a game changer, and could be long term, as thought of before the TJ, and if so, would be every bit worth "prospects" and hope and dreams, including Berrios and Kepler. I don't think Ryan has the balls to take that chance.
  18. As much as I like Fernandez, he is still at a point in his comeback that he is a total unknown. Trading deadline would be much better.
  19. No no no no no..... and Shane has signed with Cleveland. Time for the youth movement, and no turning back. And please keep Sano out of the outfield. Span is an average center fielder. He just doesn't get to many balls, won't dive forward but slides on his butt, and is tentative at the wall. Time for the youth.
  20. You think baseball players have "attitude issues"? How about us fans. Sometimes a mirror tells the truth. Well, always. Oh what will Terry do.
  21. oh.... I don't know..... how definite is it that I will wake up tomorrow morning? I get your point though. I will be careful when I use definite next time.
  22. Is Park signed? I can't find that confirmed anywhere.
  23. I like that he bets on himself. I wish more players would. Expensive short contracts and perform. I like it.
  24. Kimbrel.... Craig Kimbrel. Kimball is kinda close, though. I definitely knew who you meant. At least it is not the new calendar, eh? http://www.foxsports.com/buzzer/story/washington-nationals-calendar-fenway-park-on-cover-111015
