  1. So Rodgers, the lefty, is brought in to face 5 right handed batters coming up. Is Molitor brain dead? What is the point of using a lefty there?
  2. Well.... they are making it over the fence. I personally wouldn't call them bombs, but they are sneaking over the fence and are home runs. All Mauer has ever needed to do is add about 10-15 feet of power to his swing and he would hit 40 homers a year.
  3. Is Alex Meyer 40 yet?
  4. Didn't the Twins' bullpen win a MLB bullpen of the week award in the middle of this mess? Yup. I wasn't dreaming, but it was like a dream. Week 2 winners "Minnesota's BRS score was 13.5 points higher than the next closest team...." http://m.twins.mlb.com/news/article/172982402 Jepsen is still fools gold. Forget about last years luck. It is foolish to continue to march him out there in save situations. He is not the future or even the present, and Perkins is history. The sooner the management realizes the future is the youth and lets them fail until they win, the better.
  5. It is not just Murphy's bat that is a concern. It is also his passed balls, errant throws, lack of being able to throw runners out, and his very suspect judgement on seemingly routine plays. Murphy is a mess.
  6. Meyer should be ready to start when Santana and Duffey don't answer the bell because of injury. I would love to see that.
  7. That would have to mean that Baltimore is one of the two best American League teams. I would argue that that is a total fallacy. A hot start does not mean that they are anywhere close to AL's best team. I believe a couple of short months will prove that. I also think that Minnesota's horrible performance was because they were horrible, and Baltimore reaped the benefit. Mauer has certainly been impressive.
  8. With how Ryan has traded center fielders, and when he as done it, nothing would surprise me. I like the optimism! I think it is just to expect a prospect that every prognosticator in the world has been saying how great he is going to be since he was drafted..... I think it is just and fair to expect him to be one of the few that hit the league and perform to expectations. I hope the Twins keep him in the show and let Molitor, the hitter, and the rest of the MLB staff help him. Youth is the future and the future is now.
  9. prospect fatigue - great term. I know I have it.
  10. In Hicks' small sample of this year... he was 1/11 so far just now when I checked. He would have fit right in!
  11. But Span, Revere, Gomez, and Hicks....... they were all traded from a position of surplus and strength, right? I mean, they had to go to make room for the above, right?
  12. How is Buxton any worse than Dozier, Plouffe, Sano, Rosario, Park, Suzuki, Murphy, Arcia, Santana, and Kepler right now?The only three hitting are Escobar, Mauer, and Nunez! I think he is just as able to start hitting as any of the other suspects. This is comically sad and bad now. And wasting the starting pitching? ..... and Mauer's hitting? Soon the hitting will take off and the starting pitching will regress to it's expected level or worse. I think it was the red uniforms, today. This is the hope and dreams time. May as well live with it and let it become. I am tired of a replacement level mentality. Time to sink or swim with youth.
  13. Don't tell Pressly.... he might think he needs to be affected too.
  14. Nope. It was/is painfully obvious to me that Perkins would be pretty worthless as a closer this year. I join you. I hope he just can be an innings eater.
  15. Is it too early to start thinking about the #1 draft pick in 2017?
  16. May could certainly use about 3-4 more mph of velocity this year, too, for that matter.
  17. http://deadspin.com/espns-insane-adam-laroche-puff-piece-features-laroche-l-1770710009 Sometimes, it seems, that folks aren't thinking all the way through what they are saying....... Detractors, including many health and human rights advocates, argue that stings are only as good as their ability to actually improve lives—and that they often do the opposite. “The appeal of the rescue is that it’s a happy ending,” says Janie Chuang, who teaches courses on trafficking at American University’s Washington College of Law. “But it’s not. It’s a really hard life.”
  18. Those pitches have been pretty slow, alright!
  19. I hope May gets some shots at closing. Jepsen was fools gold last year and will tank if he is used there this year. JT Chargios to the rescue?
  20. I have never bought into the pitch that it matters where a player plays in the field and that it affects the performance at the plate. Batting is batting, and has nothing to do with fielding. Mental issues certainly come into play, and rhythm of the game is different if one is a DH and just hits... but whether one plays outfield or infield, or switches around the field..... I don't buy that it should or does have an effect on hitting.
  21. Sano's problem at the plate is from scouting his inability to hit a fastball up in the zone, and that is all he is getting now, and he swings and misses. He is swinging right through meat at the belt right down the middle and not even out of the zone. Scouting Duffey and looking for his curve instead of being fooled by it........ it is rare for the league to not adjust quickly with all the video, advanced stats, and scouting, and both Duffey and Sano need to make their own adjustments now, too. They are not performing the same because of the very tendencies that made them successful last year, are their nemesis this year.
