  1. I like watching Kepler a lot. But call me old fashioned on this. I still like hitters that hit for high average, and RBI mean clutch hitting. Kepler is coming on. Thankfully, he hasn't been embarrassing in the field, lately. (Yup, I remember). June 3 The rookie booted a two-hop single to right field in the eighth inning, allowing Tampa Bay base runner Taylor Motter to advance to third and eventually score the go-ahead run on Brad Miller’s RBI single. June 15: Routine fly overrun, Kepler watches it fall to the ground he just ran past. http://m.mlb.com/video/v819820783
  2. Mauer's......Mauer's decline, of course. Damn spell check on this phone. This observation by no means is saying it is his wife or children's fault. It has to do, as all that have a wife and or family come to know, that there are now additional compartments that need focus, and they should be just as important if not more important than baseball, especially when your contract is guaranteed.
  3. Maker's decline also correlates directly to getting married and having a family. No judgment, just fact.
  4. I think Dozier is due 6 million next year and 9 million the next. That could be a problem.
  5. Well, after the lead off batter got on base via an error, he imploded with two outs and 5 runs and a grand slam later his ERA is 0 for the game. Looks pretty good for this game on paper, too.Boshers is another of Ryan's off season bullpen fixes, 28 yrs old that nobody wanted, and a Rochester place holder. I have higher expectations for success I guess, and patience is frayed. Maybe things will change now that Ryan is gone, and guys like this won't be called up instead of prospects that are part of the future.
  6. I agree, but someone has to be interim GM, since I didn't get the job.
  7. Interesting that an assistant GM in another organization is assigned to have experience and worthy of hiring, but an assistant GM from this organization has no experience. Hey, I sure hope that Rob Antony is truly an interim GM only, but he certainly has similar experience as other assistant GM's.
  8. YES!!! A great day in Twins History! Rejoice! Since it wasn't done year after year after year after year... after year after year... No time like the present! Change is happening! That is a good thing, whatever the last straw was .
  9. Someone needs to challenge the system in court, and create a class action suit.MLB would be shamed publicly into paying the minor league players a fair salary. Comparing inadequate pay to other inadequate pay lacks compassion and empathy.
  10. Oh., OK. But I was just kidding. I am in the camp that thinks the new award names are tacky and unnecessary and ostentatious. I take it back.
  11. Yup. Another case of roster mismanagement. I didn't get the need to DFA him.
  12. Hey! Maybe the Twins Daily Minor League Hitter/Pitcher of the Day should be changed to honor a minor league hitter and pitcher that never quite made it in the bigs, like: The Chris Parmelee Twins Daily Minor League Hitter of the Day and The Anthony Slama Twins Daily Minor League Pitcher of the Day How about it? Trendy, eh?
  13. Maybe it is that other guy.... Sazuki.
  14. But hey, fans do it right here on these boards all the time.... even to make the case that a player is suddenly an all-star!
  15. My opinion is not an argument, and you can't eliminate my opinion. If you are looking for arguments, that is down the hall, second door on the right.
  16. Jepsen's performance last year was a clear outlier and classic fools gold. Just as Hughes' performance was in 2014. Some, not nobody, are not so easily duped.
  17. Burdi & Meyer. Pitching in the Twins system can be like traveling in the Bermuda Triangle. One day they are pitching, and then they disappear and you never see them again.
  18. Definitely time to update. Buxton (280) and Kepler (150) have too many at bats to qualify any longer. That is, unless we want to make special rules/exceptions so Buxton can be a prospect forever. ;-)
  19. Thank you. It saves me time writing this, too
  20. And then there was this.... sigh..... Tampa Bay right-hander Chih-Wei Hu, picked up from Minnesota last July in a trade for Kevin Jepsen (since released by the Twins), was also impressive, throwing 94-97 mph with an out pitch in his palmball that comes in at 89-91 with splitter-like bottom. He comes from a three-quarters slot with a little deception, so while the fastball doesn't have a lot of plane I don't think it's as vulnerable as it might otherwise be.
  21. Damn. Another spotlight, and another tank. It would be nice if they didn't create a mess that needs cleaned up in the first place! When will our guys be the ones that step up and shine instead of tank? Mentally, they just don't seem to be ready or prepared.
  22. Exactly what I was thinking. What is the idea here? Let him get humiliated? That will show him? Can't let him build confidence? Break him down to build him up? Pretty primitive.
