How is that new batting/hitting coach doing? The offense is really tanking.

I just don't get it. The Twins' in the dugout were upset at Cain for trying to score (and he almost did) with his team up, 6-0. Just playing baseball. He is supposed to try to score. Should they be upset at Kepler for hitting a home run? Shouldn't he just give up by then, if Cain shouldn't try to score? I don't get it. This is baseball, not the NBA, where even in the playoffs, teams just basically quit if they get behind, and don't even try to win that game. I hope the players always do the best they can, no matter what the score. Buxton is even getting pinch hit for..... by Grossman! It is a sad state of affairs.

Regarding Lynn...... which is better: to pay 10 mil and have him lose games for us, or to pay 10 mil and have him lose games for some other team?

Article: STL 7, MIN 5: Lynn with a Dud Again
h2oface replied to Tom Froemming's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
There is a reason that the Cards cut bait with both Lynn and Duke. The longer this goes on, the more painful it is going to be.- 53 replies

Bring Wilson Ramos HOME! A catcher that can hit doesn't have to be a figment of the imagination. Ramos' contract is up at the end of the year. If they don't make a trade for him, sign him then. Castro would make a great backup in the final year of his contract. Or trade Castro then. Know any team that would pay him $8 mil a year? Now is a perfect time to add Nick Gordon, while Polanco is out. Never ever play Grossman in the field. In fact, he needs replaced.

The Cards had learned to doubt him, too. Even without this year's numbers. His spot in the rotation should be in great danger with Santana and May in the upcoming picture. Should be, if winning is the goal, and not playing the salary. Of course, nothing says that May or Santana will find great success, necessarily. I like to assume that they will perform just as good as they have, or even better (especially for May), but these injuries were significant.

Magill. This was Duke's third day in a row, and Magill had Saturday off (after pitching scoreless innings with no walks and only one hit total on Thursday and Friday). And Magill is right handed. Magill has had a real nice run since acquired (surprisingly to me), and it was a great time to see what he had, especially after coming up big in the 8th on Friday, in a tie game. And he is right handed. Oh, sorry. I already said that. Definitely not Duke. Definitely Magill, had it been up to me, which, of course, it wasn't and isn't. Thanks for asking.

Escobar's throw to Dozier's shins wasn't a great help, either, eh? Though play that had to have two perfect throws.

The Twins' 9th was loaded. A single, a double, and two walks, and not a run. It was a great play that got Adrianza at the plate, but man he seemed slow. The bases loaded, and the hottest hitter of the series at the plate, and a first pitch foul pop up. And not a run. The Angels' 9th was so short. 8 of the 9 hitters in the game at the time were right handed! The next six Angels' batters in a row would be right handed, and the Lefty was brought in. Those 87-88 mph fastballs were just what the doctor ordered. 5 pitches and the game was over. Duke was still in after hitting the first right handed batter with his third pitch that he lost total control of, the only curve thrown. It was impressive to see a first pitch bunt that was perfectly executed. No hesitation. No missing the ball or a fouling it off. Not one failed attempt. He just squared up and reached down and bunted the low, 88mph strike perfectly. I was so jealous. And with a runner on second, in scoring position with one out, the next hitter, Cozart, was another right handed batter, and the lefty was still allowed to pitch his 5th pitch to him. Was anyone else amazed it was Duke, who was so perfectly used to get one dangerous lefty (Otani) the day before..... was anyone else amazed or disgusted that Duke got the call there?

Gibson gets respect, somewhat grudgingly. Good for Gibson. Good for the Twins. I like home grown products, and cheer for them the most. Rentals and tourists stopping by, not so much.

"Garver was charged with a passed ball the inning LA tied the game." This one didn't hurt the outcome, thankfully, as after striking out Cozart on that at bat, Pressly walked Trout (albeit the 2nd pitch was really a high strike that was miscalled) on 4 pitches, and Calhoun would have then been on second to be driven in by Upton's single, anyway.

Article: MIN 5, LAA 4: Rally Rosie

I'm not knocking Royce, either. It was just a point of interest, and I found this meeting interesting, because they were both considered 1st in draft options. And this night, McKay got the best of the whole team, while he was in there. I am sure there will be times it doesn't turn out that way. I try not to imply. I can't help if anyone else assumes something that is not said. I hope Lewis becomes a superstar. I also don't hold much to the age argument. Age is insignificant once the competition starts. Look at women's (or maybe is should be called girls?) gymnastics. I know a lot of people do, but there are early bloomers and late bloomers, and once on the field, it matters not to me.

Which just makes it worse. Lots of incorrect calls. Pitchers getting robbed, and batters getting robbed. Business as usual, even though the tech is there to correct it.- 48 replies

I never said they are expected to carry the team every night, did I. I just said it would have been nice to get something from them this night. It was needed. They had the opportunities. It is not unnoticed, nor unappreciated, that they are carrying the team right now.- 48 replies

No relief. That hurt. How is that new pitching coach working out? Sure could have used something other that zeros from Escobar, Rosario, and Morrison tonight. Berrios? I hope he gets it together. Talk about missing the catchers targets tonight.- 48 replies

Article: Royce Lewis is Finding His Stroke
h2oface replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I can't even imagine how hard it must be for a 19 or 20 year old athlete since a child to get to play baseball almost everyday. The kid needs his rest! One doesn't want him to wear out by 35 to forty. Just think if Nolan Ryan would have gotten all that needed rest. He might still be pitching. -

Talking Shop with New Twins Pitching Coach Garvin Alston
h2oface commented on Brandon Warne's blog entry in BW on the Beat
If results constitute the correct way to judge a pitching coach, Garvin Alston gets an F for the first months report card. Eddie gets an F minus. Or is that a double F?
