    You need to have a good scouting department. In regards to the Twins, to dsome that is a debate able issue for a different thread. You need to move on from mistakes. Actually this FO managed to move Lynn and Happ. Cut its with Shomaker, outright Smeltzer (not quite a mistake) and Dobnak (Contract mistake). The window is kept open by the continuous finding of players.

    For a Twins GM it is make or broke. Bill Smith would still be the GM if his plan wasn’t spend money to fix. Iy is more likely than not the dynamite duo in place will be fine as long as there is profit. As far as Kepler leaving,, when there are 6 better options the could try to trade him, or he hits free agency, and goes. Celestino is not an answer. Beckham and the other guy they brought in, and Contreras showed why they need so many outfielders at their disposal. When a team claims Cave, it shows there is a dearth of backups.

    Polanco had a better 2021 than 2019 Nick Gordon had an OPS+ of 117 Larnach has not played at the major league level to know one wat or the other what he will be Your maybes are worst case scenarios. Maybe every say will be dark and cloudy

    In addition to the other players mentioned Celestino, Hamilton and probably Stashak could all be DFA without losing them. 10 open spots on the roster is a lot. Wallner would be a 4th outfielder with Gordon and Arraez available. Kirilloff at 1b, They would then have to figure out shortstop and the annual disaster 7-8 starters as well as the annual bullpen issues.

    My bet is for 4 designs. One will be the traditional kind , one some shade of blue, one to appeal to the Hispanics, one for the urban/younger crowd. They will be different than anything before as they want to sell merchandise.

    If you look at the GIDP numbers the leaders are middle of the order power type hitters. Not exactly the guys who beat out throws A long time ago someone looked at a fairly large window of time. The average number of base runners driven in was 15%. The career best at that time was Josh Hamilton at 19%. IIRC one year Cabrera was at 14%. I am sure the FO analytics guys could tell the current numbers by base position and outs.

    287 players in MLB have made 300 PA. That’s as close to 9 per team as I could get. Gordon’s ops of 760 places home at 97.th best. His WAR is 1.9, 117 best If that is failure then most of baseball is a failure. The alternative would be to think Baldelli is a genius for getting that kind of production out of such a failure

    In2021 there were only 7 qualified innings pitchers that pitched more than 6 innings per game. So far there are 18 in the qualified category. Pretty much it is be a great pitcher and the innings will take care of itself.

    They called up Palacios and sent Beckham to retirement. As a pick to save slot money there isn’t an investment in the future with him so he can have haphazard development. They probably wanted to help Wichita intact and hope for a deep playoff run and thus not pull from them

    The prospect list would look better but the team next year or the year after may be better with the players than the prospects. Cano was addition for the Twins by subtraction

    Lee Isola,, Carmago, and Julien as position players,. Varland is still a prospect as is SWR. There are a few relievers doing well. Of course relievers never rank high as prospects. That is until the major league team’s bullpen gets blown up.

    Whatever. They were counting on Larnach and Kiriloff in the outfield and Sano at 1b. Considering the backups past Arraez it should be obvious that they were counting on them. I guess not. They traded assets for Paddack. Even if you don’t count Maeda, they are still high on the list. The players were healthy when traded for. Manipulate data to suit idea

    The Twins have had the second most players on the injured list. The Twins have had the second most days on the injured list, That holds true if you look at just pitchers. The numbers are courtesy of sportsrac. They are only in the middle for salary. Now, if they brought along the training theories of Cleveland with them, you can’t blame the training staff. Cleveland has the second fewest pitchers and days on the list. I am not sure when they changed the training staff but in 18 an 19 they were near the bottom of the list and have been moving up every year sine 2020
