  1. The idea of a Chris Bassit signing seems like a good one until you remember he had TJ about 2016. Eovaldi, injury prone again Unfortunately, Archer, Shoemaker, Happ have proved there are bad 1 year contracts,
  2. Prove farm system rankings mean anything. In the recent ruleV draft there were many top 30 prospects of organizations available. 15 players were taken, only 2 were top 30 prospects. Clearly prospect rankings did not mean much to front offices and scouting.
  3. No more halfway measures. Was trading for Gray, Paddack, Lopez and Fulmer halfway measures? They did not all work out. San Diego made moves, they worked. Fans came out. Texas made moves. They did not work, attendance remained the same. There are excuses why attendance is down but Al Davis was correct. The thing is that there is the talent there on the team, there is the matter of luck. There are only about 30-40 pitchers every year that make all of their starts. None of them were Twins. There were only 130 qualified batters per fangraphs, only 3 were Twins. The halfway problem is finding players that stay on the field
  4. What player that the current front office let go has had any sort of career? Trades are a different matter
  5. The 20% stake in the sports network must have an impact on the cash flow The reality is as a private business we have no idea what the profit is. Everybody claims to know revenue yet with revenue sharing and the rules aligned with that, again not really revenue=how much the team can spend
  6. Nyoman are wrong on the spend money to make money. It comes down to “Just win, baby. In the early part of this century the fans came out for a winning team that they were not spending money on.
  7. If Hamels has recovered from his surgery there is more than a decent chance he could be a sub 4 FIP pitcher. That is better than most pitchers
  8. Contract not signed yet. A good catcher. If the top seven hitters are back and healthy they do not need great production from the catcher. If he helps the pitchers be better that has tons more value
  9. Season long hamstring issues may have had an effect. His rh split at home was the most off, Target field could be part of the factor. Different pitchers have catcher issues. Was there different outcomes with different catchers? Don’t know the exact source of the problem. The outcome was known
  10. The Sox would make a trade that would make them better now and the future. It would be MLB level prospect and other prospects. The Sox. Have good bullpen pieces. The Sox’s in my opinion are fishing for a steal.
  11. Trea Turner or Nick Gordon? Brandon Nimmo or Bubba Starling? Kyle Tucker or somebody who didn’t pan out and I forgot the name already? Lots of luck involved in the draft
  12. What is most likely to get traded are high ceiling prospects that are not near major league ready for thee pitching prospects. The need at the major league level is going to be there for that pitcher sooner or later. High ceiling position players it depends on what is ahead or just behind them. Lee wont go anywhere without SS being settled. Julian. Won’t go anywhere if they think Polanco is going to be injury prone or fading
  13. Never for Miami, but the Twins have done OK, Mets got Thor for Dickey
  14. Reynolds can ask for a trade but the team still has 3 years of control
  15. Dickey was traded to Seattle after he was returned by Seattle. Nit picky, but as long as people are being that way about Santana, who the Twins couldn’t send down to the minors that year, I thought the more nits the merrier
  16. When the team reached 42-0 and Judge already hir his 25 home run with Arraez already on base there might be sell outs then. To spend as the Dodgers, Yankees and the like, every fan would have to spend about $100. Merchandise is a league thing, The Twins do not get parking revenue, and there is the revenue sharing that goes on.
  17. You can say they are NOT a small market team. They are not a large market team, either. The differences between the Twins revenue and the top 8-9 teams was close to 100 million
  18. An old dude on another team came back from IJ and did pretty good. Pitched almost 200 innings when his season was finally over, picked up some hardware. In other words he returned to what he was. The problem for Marea becomes what is his recovery? Is he really the 2020 pitcher or the spot starter he was with the Dodgers? Time will tell
  19. Angel, Dodgers, Texas, Atlanta, Giants all have been linked to Hanniger
  20. 2022 22 -2.2 Wichita TL AA MIN 37 160 143 19 39 8 0 8 25 0 1 14 48 .273 .338 .497 .834 71 9 1 0 2 0 2022 22 -0.2 Cedar Rapids MIDW A+ MIN 46 191 159 30 45 9 2 11 40 0 0 25 43 .283 .398 .572 .970 91 2 6 0 1 0 They are still pretty good. Sorry my touch for copy and paste was not better
  21. To remove a player from the 40 man roster a team has to DFA them, thus making them available to all of the clubs. Attempting to stash a player would be a losing proposition. Look at the multiple times a player has switched teams multiple times over the off season
  22. The Twins made a quite a few trades last year. It might be safe enough to assume there were a lot of other trade offers. Leguminous may have been a prospect that came up in discussions. It will be interesting to see if this is the start of a busy off season or a return to minimal impact trades
  23. So you think Anderson is the only quality starting pitcher?
  24. Most teams have a full 40 man roster. There will be non tendered players between now and the draft to open up spots. There are also free agents to sign. For a prospect to be selected pretty much they have to be a better prospect than someone who was on the 40 man of some team at the end of the season and offer more of an upside, I think this year’s rule 5 will be a snooze fest
  25. Since Rodney it to me has appeared that Baldeli will try to use the better reliever against the heart of the order rather than by the inning. There still has to be a closer mentality for the bottom of the order in the ninth but it is not necessary to have a closer if they score runs in the 8th with the top of the order
