  1. I asked a question about Ronnie Henriquez and got the answer to the question with this article. I bet he gets Topa and Tonkin, too.
  2. It is at this point debatable if it helped Zebby’s career or not to have been added. It seems like more and more there is a learning aspect that needs to occur at the major league level for those who are talented, but not in the elite category. For position players the consternation when someone is not added would appear to be misplaced given the results of the last few rule v drafts. Look at the AAA success of Chris Williams yet he was not claimed. So, is Olivar a better prospect? Rankings say yes, but if Williams were 22 and not what he is would that change the opinion? Rule v is now about drafting a player to help the club the year they are drafted.
  3. Nunez was taken and kept. He was a know defensive specialist and pinch running speedster. The other one was returned.
  4. 2022 rule 5 draft had 2 position players taken, Noda and Sabol. Noda had a good first year, sophomore slump last year. Sabol played at a replacement level for the Giants, pretty much got moved out of the catcher position, 2023 saw 2 position players taken. Nunez who is a defensive, speed no hit utility player was kept, de Los santos was returned. 2021 had 51 total players taken, and I didn’t see a name that stood out LeBlanc got his year in Miami and was released after the following year in the minors, Young was drafted by Washington and was not claimed back when sent to the minors, Maciel was returned, Ronnie Dawson was kept and releases at the end of the year, Nogowski was released. Kirwer was returned That is the first 6 selected position players Of the 10 position players I looked up, 1 good season out of multiple. I think by and large the FO do a decent job of knowing what position players will make an impact and which ones don’t in protecting position players. If Olivar is near ready, then they protect him as he actually has hit in the minors. If he is not protected i think the chance that he is a viable starting catcher goes way down
  5. They were interested in Montgomery last year and he is available in a trade
  6. Would you give up your top prospect and a stud left handed reliever with 2 years of control for 3 years of Duran and one of Castro? That could be a lopsided trade. They might trade one of their other near ready catchers, but not Rushing
  7. The third round draft pick doesn’t seem like a steep price but Drew n a half season get MLB. Com top 30 status, 35+ FV from fangraphs. Winokeur is a top 30 prospect, 40 FV, Povich and Steer made it to the major leagues. Alas, 2025 is an odd year, they will get the supplemental first round. They would have to give up their second rounder. Thats Canterino, Soulare, Jeffers, Keashall, Prielipp, among a couple others. So they are finding talent. Walker is getting up in years but power is the last thing to age out. Still, for half the money the could resign Santana and still have a promising player
  8. Grichuck turned down a 6 million option. I doubt he is coming here for 5. Topa made 1.25. I doubt that he would make less than that even though he was injured last year. The arbitration process does not seem to work that way. 2 c prospects for 10 million in salary relief seems like an overpay for the receiving team . The pre hype prospect for Paddack with no money going out is another dream. The team would do your trades and signings in a heartbeat, but the reality of the players or other teams doing it is quite the stretch
  9. The twins in the last 3 years have been averaging using 20 relief pitchers. Yes bad relievers are fungible. The extended stays of Okert, Jay what’s his name, and Dobnak would show that quality relievers are not fungible. If you believe Topa can be a good reliever you keep him. If you think he is going to be injured once again, you let him go. Tonkin ate up 80 innings last years of low league pitching. Not exactly a great job, but somebody has to do it. If having a roughly league average pitcher as your 7th guy in the bullpen and not worry about it, Tonkin’s expected arb numbat is not egregious, nor is it likely to be more expensive than a league average pitcher free agent. What is out there is likely not better for a cheaper price,
  10. Thanks for the laugh considering the response you got later,it caused another laugh
  11. I can’t wait to see who gets the Twins Trade Candidate Breaking Down Rony Henriquez duty.
  12. The most common names to come up for trade are Grochet, Montgomery Sonny Gray and Luzardo. The only place that I found mention of trading Lopez is here.
  13. The Taillon and Snell trades are the perfect examples of what happens in these trades for prospects or near as ready as they are ever going to get players.
  14. I think these trade everybody clickbait’s would be more interesting if they found fans of other teams wanting any of these players. It would probably be a very quick series
  15. A trade of Duran to improve the club and lower finances would also involve decent prospects. Those prospects are what the club needs to keep a low payroll. Identifying their fringe prospects who won’t bloom has not been this front office’s strong suit.
  16. Castro is a one year rental in a contract year. The return is not going to look like much 2-3 prospects that the other team doesn’t think will ever be a starter, or a starting pitcher. The return depends on how much better the Twins’ scouting department is than the trade partner.
  17. Hunter for his career had only 2 seasons where he played in less than 100 games. Buxton has played in over 100 games twice. Buxton moving to a corner would not change the trend of Buxton’s playing time
  18. Using the Bummer Trae as an example of what Jax is worth is the best reason not to trade him now. Atlanta cleaned the chaff out of the farm system and threw in a pitcher that hasn’t been the same since his 2 seasons lost to injury
  19. The biggest stage is New York. The problem with going to. The Dodgers is the Dodgers is the huge shadow of Ohtani.
  20. Somewhere along the line he forgot about teaching defensive fundamentals and baserunning
  21. First question is when is he going to get posted? Second, How much money does each team still have?
  22. They need a marketing guru? Do they first fire everyone in the 12 listed members of the brand marking department, the 15 listed members of the brand partnership department, the 41 listed members of the ticket sales and marketing department? What haven’t they done to maximize the market?
