    It should not have taken too much to figure out that the asking price was going to be high for any of the Twins players. Falvey even said as much last summer. The suspected landing spots for players have not paid that kind of price, nor much more than a discount price for a player. Again, something that shouldn’t have been too hard to figure out why a trade wasn’t going to happen

    The fangraphs projection system for wins and losses has been inaccurate. The team WAR totals have been surprisingly close. The totals for central division teams are close to each other. I would think with all of their analytics the Twins FO,, as well as the other teams FO would act accordingly. Many here would appear to not think that way

    The game of IF is a funny thing. People have talked the if the Twins don’t spend and people have hoped aboard that line, trashing what has not happened. Opine that projections systems say Larnach could OPS .750 and be useful and see what happens.

    The chances of getting a player that approaches the talent of the player you are trading increase as the player you are trading away accumulated WAR approaches zero.

    6 years of a player a team is convinced will be good is the bargain no team can pass on. Position players heading down off the list is usually, but not always a bad sign. Pitching prospects and these lists are closer to dues than not.

    For every statistic created there are an absurdly high number of people who will use it not as intended. There are also people who will never understand context and statistics.

    Quality players the Mets have traded for in the Moneybags Era Lindor Baez Mullins None were a pitcher. What did the Mets give up? Giiminez and Rosario have had moments, but not this year 2 suspects. Next Pete Crow-Armstrong as a 18 or 10 year old. Acting GM was Aved GM. Next, low level prospects. It is not going to be earth shattering news that somebody would trade for Ryan or Buxton. Don’t expect to like the return from the Mets

    What? 3-4 games isn’t enough? Isn’t it just 3-7 steps stepping backwards and let it fly? shuffle over to the side a little bit to avoid a tub of lard landing on you. Surely the game is that simple. Least it was that way in elementary school

    If Buxton is waiving his no trade clause it would seem reasonable to consider he would want a significant raise and added years. Sandy Anderson said that after the Verlander and Scherzer flop for money that the Mets were going to have to develop more in house talent. Their pitching has been not an asset. I doubt they would give up what they have difficulty procuring. It would take a sharp computer programmer to figure out what Mets prospects in the lower ranks are going to be good. The Twins only have one pro scout

    The point was why one would keep Larnach. Yup Roden hasn’t had much of a chance to prove himself. 4 outfielders and a DH. Larnach is the number 5 of those 5 positions By June or July. The situation could be changed, for the better or worse.

    Matt Wallner has not played a full season of MLB ball, needing to be sent down Clemens spent like 87% of his playing time in the infield. Roden hasn’t shown he can hit mlb pitching Rodriguez hasn’t shown he doesn’t need a backup plan Jenkins has even proven he can hit AAA pitching Mendez hasn’t even seen AAA They had to keep Larnach at this point

    This issue I was responding to was about luck. Twins were unlucky in thay draft. Lewis claimed to not be injured the econd half of last year. You can’t use the injury excuse

    You are confusing rankings with a team’s knowledge of the player..

    Real good player are unlikely to be traded for a 2 years of control. player who does not have a history of elevating in the playoffs. Just like with the Nelson Cruz trade, teams do make mistakes when they. Need a player for a push.

    The Royals did win the WS. They had a long run of mediocrity since. The Greinke trade shows if you have an elite talent you can get good prospects from a team. I don’t think anyone on the Twins current roster put up a 10 war season like Greinke did

    I liked when the blogger stated players were on the wrong side of 30 as one reason why a team would trade for Buxton

    There is a difference between opinion pieces and journalism. Most columnists slip into opinion pieces as there is the desire to be first to report. There is no penalty for being wrong. Did Buxton say he would accept a trade? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe there are conditions attached. That is as reasonable assumption. As saying he asked for a trade. Rebuild? That is what small market teams do every year.

    The Stewart trade was a player that was injured for most of 5 years for a player that was mostly ineffective for two. There are no winners in that type of trade, The Twins did not have to pay for Stewart’s surgery and rehab. That was the only win. Jax had said he wanted to start. Maybe Tampa will give him the chance the Twins were not going to give him. A failed starter that is now disgruntled for a failing starter is about even. Correa on the way out said that he had been asking to not play shortstop anymore. The trade was better than a salary dump. It was moving what was becoming a negative before the team had to pay more to move on from the player. That would be a win of a move, but also makes the whole Correa signing a bigger loss

    Lewis might have had the highest ceiling. The question would be who was going to be the best player. McCarthy might have had the highest ceiling of the QBs available, at the time the Vikings drafted. He also had the longest climb to get there

    The numbers made up the reporting may have come from a team wanting to trade for him. Sort of like when the Joel Sherman reports on what the Twins want to do. The possibility of for the clause being waved? 4/120. Like Passan, I picked numbers out of the air. It is not as messy as those who pull them from somewhere else

    Last time the Twins had the first pick they chose the guy who would sign for less. They used the money to sign 2 players who did not come close to panning out. There were some great cases made here for taking Gore or Greene
