  1. Arizona had a much larger local television contract. Amazing what an extra 30-40 million cash do for a team.
  2. The Dodgers have been to 5 of the last 9 World Series with a payroll that is 100 to 200 million more than the Twins. Thinking that a different owner is going to come in and spending that kind of money is pure fantasy. Also note they haven’t won them all It is hard to say when the team will have the harmonic convergence of talent needed to get to the World Series. With the extended playoffs it really takes having 4 quality starters come through. 2023 was their shot. Unfortunately by playoff time, Ober and Ryan were worn down. The team did not have a couple of the average players come up big
  3. When Larnach was drafted 3 outcome batters were analytically preferred. Much to Larnach’s luck they changed the ball making him have warning track power. He and the coaches never found the adjustment. Now the paradigm also includes running after the ball. Unfortunately Larnach will not get much faster even if he tries to .
  4. 666. Has many meanings. Make it 6.66 and you say, not yet a major league pitcher
  5. What the Athletics said or did that unlocked his potential i don’t think anyone has a hitting coach for each side of the plate, though it may be lefthanders have a whole different thought process
  6. Larnach needs to talk to Rooker.
  7. No you didn’t say build. There is also really no point in adding a player that is not adding to your team. Like Larnach and Clemens, he can cheaply fill a spot until the team can find someone better
  8. You can have an opinion. You can accuse someone of cherry picking stats when you have no idea what they mean. Neither player has shown that they are a player to build around. One is no better than the other, one is no worse. The Reds number 1 prospect is a 1b/3b they traded for Hayes and his long term contract this year knowing Sal Stewart would be a major league player in 2026. That tells you what the Reds think of Steer.
  9. I am sure that a geek with the ability to sort out files from fangraphs can come up with accurate data. The data to me really doesn’t say much about who is good at drafting. To me the order of who is good at drafting would be determined by dividing fwar by number of players as sort of a first way to look at it. The second way would be to look at players who produced multiple years of fwar at a solid level. That is who is good at drafting
  10. You did not offer one shred of evidence that Steer is a better player than Wallner. Now for an unfounded claim on trades, you obviously haven’t looked at the Eds outfield problems. They did try to play Steer there but it was worse defense than he had in the infield.
  11. From a facebook post that was difficult to copy into thisThe above site also had this Total WAR by each teams draft picks for the past 10 years Top 3... You read that right... 83 Wins Over Replacement! (fWAR - Fangraphs) 41 draft picks have made the MLB! #LetsGoGuards H/T BrooksGate on X Also somewhere else it was noted that Houston produced hitters, Cleveland pitchers. The Twins need to poach somebody from Houston to balance their drafts
  12. Steer in 488 games has produces 5 bwar,, 4.5 fwar WRC101 Wallner in 225games has produced 4.5. BwarI, 5.1 FWAR and 131 WRC+. In what universe is Steer the better player?
  13. Ryan would have been a Red Sox if they would have matched the Twins’ price. Falvey or Zoll (dear autocorrect, I did not want Zola, why are you so persistent?) can only trade him once so expect a high price as they would have to win the trade. Will he be traded? Not until the deadline. Of course by the deadline all those prospects listed in Seth’s other article will be leading the Twins to the top of the division.
  14. History of accuracy of their estimates? Bell hasn’t been anything but a fill in replacement player since he was traded from Washington The decline on many of these players ALMOST makes the option of Clemens palatable.
  15. Why would anyone pay 8-10 million for a player who has been near replacement level since an injury? The Hoskins that played in Philadelphia appears to be gone
  16. Metrics would say below average defense. He has been below average hitter now for a starting1B/DH. He was getting $16 million/yr. Milwaukee has not declined his mutual option. I don’t think Hoskins would decline the option. He hasn’t been as good as he was since his ACL injury
  17. Yup, better contact, go the other way, more barrels,, walk more, strikeout less, better this or that from the metrics. Pretty much the problem with any hitter,. Just do it says Nike easier said than done
  18. There was a 1b when Falvey took the job here that could woulda shoulda been a star. I think the guy heard Sheryl Crow sing about having fun and never worked out again.
  19. Pitch count. Snell was at 101, That is a normal pitch count. Snell was efficient. Yamamoto was 111. Not grossly over a pitch count. Glasnow was 99, Ohtani 100 They were also going to each have a long rest. They couldn’t do that in the regular season. Also note how the Dodgers have so many overuse injuries.
  20. Pitch location is critical. It is on the pitcher to do it. If a blogger can figure that out about the pitcher, teams in baseball have people who figure that out with all of the data they have available. How to correct it is the age old problem. Putting a. Ball an inch left/right/up/down is easier said than done.
  21. Coming from the person that initiated the sounds like phrase, your comment is pretty funny.
  22. 23 to 24 Lewis slumped, Farmer slumped, Jeffers and Castro regressed. Julian imploded. Hitting coach Popkins
