    Short term results are all that matters then? In Ryan's second go around most of his failure was due to trying to fix things with band aids. for the here and now. To look at the success of a team rather than the organization as a whole is as poor of choice as could be. To expect them to pull elite players out of thin air is unreasonable. To have major league ready available players available for CF, 3B SS, Ace pitcher as well as tanking 2b, and top set up man who was never injured gets injured is a bit much for any team to absorb.

    Cuddyer netted the team the draft picks that became JO Berrios and Chargois. The trade would have had to been made by Smith, not Ryan Morneau should have been traded in the Bill Smith era, between the 2012, and the 2013 Morneau there would be little difference in value. Wilingham never had value except in fan fantasies, Kubel was a liability in the field. If there was a market for him after his breakout season it was again a Bill Smith era thing to do. By the time Ryan took over again, Kubel was well known and down to a slightly above replacement level player. . Yup Arizona gave him a fat contract. At that time fat contracts were easier for teams to give for a player than a prospect. The prospect turned out to be Luke Bard as the compensation pick. That pick has not worked out, but a reasonably good choice. Edwin Diaz would have been better, but every GM passed on him a time or two when they should not have. Epstien got lucky. Right time, right place. Got a better deal than Boston did for worse pitchers. He still has the same job, Cherrington does not. Epstien dealing mediocrity having a great season for great prospects was about the last time it happened.

    The Tigers have 0 starting pitchers with an ERA under 4. FIP and XFIP disagree on the year Boyd is having. I am not agreeing on the AAAA pitching bit. AAAA pitching is Slegers. That is not what a team sees in September. They may see a few innings from players close to the major leagues who have had ok seasons. I don't recall the lifer minor league pitchers getting a reward call up playing. other than a mop up It doesn't mean they don't exist. It is just highly unlikely

    Bote would be considered a nobody as the Cubs brought him up as a utility player. Utility players do not get ranked. That is unfortunate because the first player off the bench is as valuable as any other player. Relief pitchers do not get ranked as prospects very often. That Bote was not ranked doesn't mean the scouting services disliked him. I did find a couple spots mentioning his bat and lack of position. I don't think the Twins have any minor league players other than Rooker who are bat first, figure out a position later kind of player. Astudillo isn't the hitter Bote is. Molitor did use him. Although not a first year player, Tyler Austin is getting played most every day, Cave is playing in 2/3 of the games. Grossman had a season and a hlf of big league play when he came to the Twins, Molitor shoved him out there. Grossman does have Bote's bat control, just not the power. The what would Molitor do in a pennant chase is a debatable idea.

An OPS over .800 Why he doesn't show up on prospect lists is that that hand to eye thing doesn't work so well with leather instead of wood. Those players do not get ranked as high unless they are huge HR hitters. What player in the Twins organization that hits like that has and sat? You hit like Bote, you play. The thing is, other than Sano, what rookie in a Twin's uniform has hit like that?

    Optimism from the Chief that the Twins will be in contention before the All Star break before Pressly retires. I would rather be optimistic that Alcala would be more than capable of providing what Pressly has.

    Luis Rijo – 18-years-old, RHP – The Yankees signed Rijo in 2015 and he has one year of DSL experience under his belt and is playing well in his first taste of the GCL. He has a 3.75 ERA and 49 K : 9 BB in 48 innings this season. He’s a low velocity guy, sitting in the high 80’s, low 90’s right now.     So you look at the batting average and not the result of the batting which shows him to be near the top in run production. RISP to talent suffers from SSS and that SF do not count towards RISP but do count towards run production

    You said runs are what matters. Dozier scores runs and drives in runs. Runs were your stand and Dozier has number that are very favorable for run production.

    Other than the Indians overpaying for a closer , it does not seem the returns are more than high ceiling, high risk prospects. Dozier traded or not, the player is not likely to crack the Twins top 20, Dozier getting hot, or not.

    Dozier this year is playing about league average second base. Of course one ****ty game and the pitchforks come out.

    22 years old playing in AAA in an era where plays really don't hit their stride until much later. Drian Dozier at 22 and 27 days was in rookie ball. Aaron Hicks was just finishing his AA season
