  1. Your post is way too reasonable, Cody. How dare you write something that makes so much sense.
  2. Is the m ain reason that he is no longer happy? I believe he and his family enjoyed their time in the Twin Cities. He came up thru the Twins system and was very close with several Twins he was with all those years. Maybe he just ain’t happy and it shows in his results.
  3. One of the Twins strengths this year is their improved defense. Suggesting they trade Urshela, Keps and Correa would put a brutal defensive team on the field, especially all those games when Buxton is either DH or on the bench...brutal. No to trading any of those three.
  4. Are you suggesting that the Yankees should be fearing any rematch with the Twins? Wish I knew how to insert a smiley face here!
  5. Really enjoy your including the recaps and box scores for the FCL and DSL Twins. Always exciting reading about the really young kids, some who will one day be playing at Target Field. Michel is certainly off to an encouraging start in the FCL, and he is still only 17 years old (turns 18 next month). I know DeAndrade was their big signing last year, but Michel also got a big bonus, didn't he? Raya lasted only 2.2 innings, but hadn't allowed a hit. See he threw 45 pitches, is he on a low pitch count following his injuries the past couple years? Will second Jim's comment above about Povich. Liked when the Twins selected the two lefties in the early rounds of last year's draft. Hopefully, both will move quickly up the ladder to the Twins a couple years from now. With Austin Martin missing four of the last six games, is it possible he has been dealing with some type of nagging injury? Could that be the reason for his disappointing stats to date? Does anyone have an inside scoop?
  6. Checked the box score first and when I saw that Arraez left the game I thought, oh no. Thanks for including the reason in the write-up. Didn't someone guarantee a Twins loss in one of the discussions yesterday? What a great outing for Bundy, now can he repeat it and repeat it again?
  7. Great article and you sold me, Matt. Only problem is that the starters are chosen by the fans votes, aren’t they? Agree he should be the starter, but will he even be on the team?
  8. Took a look at the Saints box score and found some good news. Yes, Winder wasn't perfect, but his outing was much better than his first game last week. Another start and he should be ready to return to the Twins. Also took a look at Drew Strotman's season...ouch. Has to be a leading candidate to be removed from the 40-man when the Twins next need to make a move. Does he have any value as an extra piece to a trade next month? And like jmlease1 above, love what Julien brings. Kid was 1-2 last night with 3 walks and a stolen base. Yes, he is striking out more than one would want, but it is a bit less than last year at a higher level. Hopefully, he can get it down to twenty some percent by the time he reaches the Twins. Give me a team of guys like Julien and that is a team that will be enjoyable to watch.
  9. Interesting question, Nash. As is your discussion and many of the comments. Like most of us, I am concerned with his defense at both third and first. With that said, I expect if he works hard enough his defense will improve to be at least average. He may never be a gold glover at either position, but I expect come 2024 we won't be talking about how brutal he can be. As for who the Twins have at both positions, Urshela and Arraez must be the players most likely to fill third and first for the next few/several years. Note: I am early to the club that Arraez should be their starting first baseman going forward. The Twins also have Kirilloff at first and Lewis at third, should Correa stay. Both are likely higher on the Twins prospect list than Miranda, but we don't know that. We all can talk about Correa's staying or leaving all we want, but only the Twins, Correa and his agent really know what the likelihood of his opting out is...or not. So your point, Nash, is a good one. Miranda appears to be an excess player with potentially having a huge bat. We won't know what he is worth in a trade until one occurs, should that happen.
  10. Beckham caught my eye the other day also. Another problem of where he would play. Expect the best we could hope for from him is to stay hot to give him some value next month so he could be included as a meaningful part of trade X.
  11. Evan Sisk is having a fantastic season for the Wind Surge/Saints. Do those of you who know more about him believe he could be someone to help the Twins pen? Perhaps even later this year? Always great seeing Severino have a big day. The Twins gotta get something for one of these huge investments in young kids from the islands.
  12. See that Schulfer had an off night for the Saints, allowing 2 runs. Great seeing DeAndrade with a mult-hit game. Same for Wander Javier, who I believe has had a couple multi-hit games this past week or so. Will join the growing roster of fans who want to see AK with the Twins. But in reality, don't know who he would replace and where he would play. I guess he could give Arraez, Larnach and Kepler a day off every week, then be the DH the rest of the time instead of the normal light hitter catcher being DH. Suppose that makes too much sense, however.
  13. My point was that he has similar energy. Did mention that the comparison ends when he steps into the batter's box.
  14. Not me, I love this kid and want to see him retire as a Twin many years from now. With that said, I hope they sign him to a contract this winter, maybe something similar to the recent Polanco/Kepler deals. The highlight of most games for me is watching his at bats. Gotta love those 8-9-10-11 pitch at bats that have to be so frustrating for the pitcher. Understand that he reported to spring training several pounds lighter (does anyone know how many?) and in the best shape of his life. Result is that he looks to be running much better and although not a base stealer, looks fine scoring from second or even first. Also believe that he is working his way into being their regular first baseman, this year and beyond. If Jared Spurgeon can be a team leader and top defenseman, Luis Arraez can be a starting first baseman. The one ex-Twin he reminds me a lot of is Astudillo as he brings a lot of the same energy as the Turtle. That comparison ends however, when he steps into the batter's box. I believe this young man can continue hitting like he does throughout the year and hope like heck we are wondering come Labor Day, could he flirt with .400? If not this year, maybe next?
  15. True. But hopefully, health permitting, they will soon have Gray, Ryan, Ober, Smeltzer and Archer. With Winder piggy-backing with Archer and Bundy in long relief...or moved on down the road for a AA reliever, ala those two trades last July. I forget which starter they sent to St. Louis, but after a rough couple months last fall Sisk is having a really nice year.
  16. I know how much work goes into these weekly reports, Seth. Thank you! Any chance the Bonilla pitching in the DSL is related to the Bonilla who was in the organization for many years awhile ago? Cannot tell you how happy I am for the entire Saints team and organization. Really great seeing them recover so they can keep CHS Field filled with fans. And what a butt kicking they put on a first place Red Wings team, yahooooo! Don't know what winning at nearly every level means for the future of the Twins, but this entire organization is on fire. I know two or three huge prospects may mean more than overall team success, however, it is very encouraging to see all this success. As for getting AK back with the Twins, I think they are going to have to complete a trade to do so. Sure appears Arraez is establishing himself as their first baseman of today and tomorrow. So that puts AK into a corner outfield spot and fill-in at first when Luis needs a break. With Larnach and Keps manning the corners, some move/injury is going to be needed to open a spot. Also know it is too early to mean anything, but interesting seeing Michel doing well to start his career.
  17. Thats the way it is supposed to work, Arraez leads off with a hit and Buxton cranks one. Didn't see the game, but have learned to enjoy watching Archer pitch. The way he bounces around the mound reminds me of a high school kid having the time of his life. Love it. Expect they are are going to be very careful with his innings so he can pitch 5 or 6 come the playoffs. Seems like Jax is really settling into a nice role late in games. Hopefully, Winder can return next week to be that long relief guy to back Archer up and save the rest of the pen.
  18. Do we have a catching problem? Yes. How do we fix it? Not a clue, that’s what the guys making the big bucks in the FO are paid to do. Will it get fixed? Probably not till the offseason, if then. And let’s remember that prior to this weekend Jeffers hadn’t thrown anybody out and the first one was safe till he overslid second base.
  19. Don’t know where he plays back with the Twins, but they gotta find a way to get AK back up with the big club. No concern with the results, just happy to see Enlow back on the mound pitching.
  20. I see Rocco is torn about how best rest his stars. What I don’t understand is why Sanchez is the DH when Buxton and Correa have how many home runs the last two or three games? For that matter, I don’t see why either of these catchers is ever the DH.
  21. Curious about Canterino. You mentioned his elbow, someone said the other day it was an illness? See that after a couple games where Severino hit very well, he is now down around Javier territory. Ouch! Exciting to see the start Alexander Pena is off to again. A bit surprised to see him still with the Complex League team after what seemed to be a great year last year. Expect some will question his power seeing his only extra base hits last year were 6 doubles in 84 at bats. That sure seems to have been addressed as he has 3 doubles, a triple and home run in 12 at bats early this year. Gotta believe he is due to move across the parking lot to the Mussels...soon!
  22. No doubt in my mind, Rosterman, that the Twins starting shortstop next opening day will be either Carlos Correa or Palacios.
  23. My comment, Seth, was oh Sh...... As for those who blame the Twins for playing him in Center, I have always believed his biggest risk was at shortstop. With his speed there is a real danger when going after a deep foul pop up near the tarp. Unfortunately if he goes under the knife next week the earliest he will be back is next year’s all-star break. If Correa isn’t back at least we know Palacios can handle short.
  24. I am hopeful that the four young bullpen kids, Cotton, Cano, Duran and Moran all learned a lot last night. Expect them to be better next time they see the Yankees. Would have loved to have had Alcala available, but that isn’t looking good. Add Jax to the above group with starters pitching deeper into games and this pen may not be all that bad. Expect next time they will get the job done.
