  1. Kept watching to see who they picked. Didn’t know anything about any, but saw that most were ranked to be picked lower than taken. Told me the Twins got two studs at the top and were working to get the X millions more to sign them. Should they get two good starters from this draft and nothing else, it is a great draft.
  2. What is the Twins total dollar pool and how much can they go over without losing future picks, is it 5%? So if they have another $500k, that would put them up around $2.1M they could pay. Gotta expect they had discussions with he and his agent and know what it will take to sign him and they believe they have that ability.
  3. I remain hopeful that they will get at least two catchers later today. And hopefully, one of them will turn out to be both a good one and fast mover.
  4. Know nothing about this kid, but I for one am waiting for them to draft a catcher. Heck, more than one and higher than the last half of the draft. Catcher is the organization's biggest need and they need to address it during the early part of this draft.
  5. Like many above, my main concern is whether he would choose to return for his senior year and a shot at ++$5M. On the plus side, the Twins are 2.5 hours up the road from his hometown and family. Heck, his family may have been Twins fans growing up, although the Brewers are more likely.
  6. Really want the Tech catcher to fall to #8 and the Twins get a top 7 prospect at a position of need. That would be doubly good, IMO.
  7. Excellent recap Jamie, thanks. Didn't realize they had done as well last year as it appears. Hopefully, they will hit it out of the park again this year and have a couple great classes, back-to-back.
  8. What is Sano's future with the Twins? It isn't likely they will exercise their option for 2023, will they? If that is a given, the best for the Twins would be for him to go on a tear in St. Paul this coming week, then join the Twins and rip the ball for a week. Maybe, just maybe there is some team out there who would give the Twins something of value for his big bat? Looked at Palacios' numbers and like them. I am of the opinion that he will do a decent job at shortstop for the Twins the first half of 2023 while waiting on Lewis' return. That's assuming Correa opts out, which is an unknown at this time. See that the youngest Acuna is heating up down in the DSL. Has been hitting better this month after a brutal start to his career. Cannot be happier for Urbina after sitting around and doing nothing while held up by the immigration folks. Always wonder why these things happen, and sometimes I guess S...... just happens.
  9. I don’t understand Balazovic. His stuff appeared to be too good for these results. Is he dealing with an injury? Is it mental? Many of us were hopeful he would pitch for the Twins later this summer. Now have to wonder if he ever will pitch for the Twins. Has to be the biggest disappointment this year.
  10. Great seeing Escobar with another solid appearance. Have liked his potential since his great year in the DSL as a 17 year old. Does it seem like Miller gets a walk or two nearly every game? what a year for Julien, Wallner and E-S, eh?
  11. Interesting, and a great first name for someone playing the left side of the infield. How can he not be special, eh? Seems different/better than some of the power bats the Twins have drafted recently, guys with little to no chance of playing defense. Good news is that we will all know what happens in four days.
  12. I think to call me a believer may be a bit strong as my view has changed to more hope that he can still make it. Has he been available for the Rule 5 draft the past two years? Or is it three? Expect he will be a minor league free agent at year's end, if not last year. Would love to see the kid find some success and for the Twins to get something in return for their $4.1M investment.
  13. Will second Dman's comment about seeing Urbina back on the field and hitting well. With all the talk about catchers, or lack thereof in the organization, great seeing Olivar get another hit and a walk. Kid seems like he could have a good bat, although he is a long ways off. Will also second Dman's comment about Povich. Expect nearly every team in baseball needs more pitching, hopefully, this kid will be part of a future Twins rotation. Unfortunately, he can't get to Target Field soon enough. Is Wander Javier hitting better of late? Seem to see his name mentioned more often with multi-hit nights and/or a home run or some other good mention about his bat. The little I have seen of him defensively, he looks solid at short. Is there still a chance for this kid?
  14. Really down on the catching situation, as I expect is the Twins FO. Was surprised to read that Jeffers has thrown out as many runners as he has. Remember after getting no one for the first couple months of the season, his first was a guy who was safe before being tagged out after sliding past second base. And now I read that his passed balls a up. How does he possibly rate as an average defensive catcher? Didn't expect much from Sanchez as he was expected to be all about his bat. Don't know what the Twins do in 2023 or the future, but something has to change. Hopefully, that will start Sunday with the kid from Ga. Tech falling to them.
  15. How about this option? We all sit back and enjoy his pitching whenever he is on the mound? I for one have been a huge fan of his since I saw him pitch a lot on MiLB tv last summer. He convinced me he was the best starting pitching prospect in the upper levels of the organization. [Note: Joe Ryan wasn't in the organization at the time, although I may still have preferred Winder as #1] So I expect him to do well and will enjoy every inning I am able to watch.
  16. Yes, he is the man I hope is available and they take.
  17. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. Let's talk four years from now when Ben is the starting catcher for the Yankees and the Twins continue looking for a catcher that can throw anyone out at second base. As I began saying, I don't care what they hit if only some catcher could get the job done defensively.
  18. Very interesting. Now let's hope like heck the Twins extend him this summer/winter. Don't care where he is on the field, only that he is in the batter's box four or five times nearly every day.
  19. True. But you are judging his bat when called up to the Twins from AA ball the previous year, a year in which he should have been in AAA. When healthy, he has been an ok hitter in the minors. Unfortunately, Jeffers was supposed to be a much better hitter who has failed to do anything this year.
  20. Interesting comments, Jeremy, and others. Are we headed towards getting the best defensive catcher you can and not being concerned when he hits .180-.220? A catcher who will block balls with a cannon arm to control the opponent's running game. I guess I am describing Drew Butera, eh? Makes me sick that they had the guy who was actually going to hit a bit better and traded him to the darn Yankees. Hated that trade when it was made. As I watch games and see what we now have behind the plate and at bat, hate it more. By the way, is Drew Butera still playing? And Jeremy, I dread your suggestion that we may see Sanchez/Jeffers for the coming years....Boooooo! Do the rules allow the Twins to DH for the catcher and let the pitchers bat? [I don't know how to insert a smiley face here]
  21. Don't know much about any of these guys, but I ask...where are the catchers? The important catcher position is so weak throughout the organization. Is there any catcher that anyone can say is a legitimate prospect to become a front line starter? At shortstop you have Lewis, Miller, maybe Martin and/or Cavaco and a few others. But at catcher, no one. I don't know, maybe that is the case with most teams. But the catching with the big team isn't very good and it sure would be nice if they began to develop a pipeline to change that in the future. So I want the kid from Georgia Tech to be available at #8 and the Twins to make him a Twin. Add another guy from the International market and maybe five years from now the situation will be different.
  22. Was thinking about the bullpen over night. If you look at the rosters of both the Twins and Saints you will see six or seven guys that are either up with the Twins, or back with the Saints after being DFA’d. Back and forth they go. But wait, being DFA’d and back in St. Paul means no other team wanted them. Having three or four of these guys as part of an 8 man bullpen says it all. All winter I questioned, silently, those of you who were vocal about their lack of signing several bullpen arms. Well, you were right to do so as we watch a wonderful season turn into chaos.
  23. Good to see Sano getting his swing back. Assume he will move up to the Mussels for a few games before heading north to St. Paul. Took notice of Olivar the other day and see he had another big game yesterday. See he played left field and runs well enough to leg out a triple. Gotta follow a catcher who can both hit and run.
  24. I like it when they sign ten guys for roughly $5M, rather than one guy like the year they signed Javier.
