  1. Martin = Bad decision machine. Best explanation I have ever heard about him. I’d blame someone in coaching but I don’t know for a fact that that to be the case.
  2. I compare how Julien has been dumped on this sight, the same way Miranda was last year. 2 guys with sophomore slumps. Miranda a shoulder and Julien the hand/eyes/braincell coordination. Both are fixable and both players have brighter days ahead. as they mature and develop their skills (much like Rooker has) they will become competent MLB role players. Lee is a different case because he started his rookie year injured and wore down in late summer. No one here seems to understand that we have a great problem, players coming back from underperformance and youth. The best part is that we have lots of them and they will all get their time in the sunshine. LK still has a higher ceiling than all currently rostered 1B & 2B men. Play the kid!
  3. I can’t see Keaschall in a trade discussion when his value is unrealized. He has the highest ceiling of anyone not named Lewis or Correa. He is the type that you count on to be around for years which is why he is fast tracked thru the system. He not only understands baseball, he is actually good at playing it. Other guys can struggle to develop for years and will likely make multiple stops on their MLB journey to bloom. LK already has MLB talent, They need to take that chance and set him in the spotlight.
  4. Did you forget Byron Buxton was the primary DH in ‘23? Was he DH on opening day? Im too lazy to go research it. Out of all the names mentioned for this year, Luke Keaschall should get a good hard look at being added to the 40 man by opening day. His bat plays @MLB. He needs to be in the show and as his elbow allows, play him at 2B n ‘25. Get him 600 AB’s and move all the other failures out of his way. He will be a fixture in our lineup for a decade+
  5. I definitely agree that Martin needs to play at one defensive position. 2B would work and hopefully he excels and finds his bat. Otherwise, package him up and send him somewhere to platoon with Julien.
  6. Julien will find lots of time at 2B and Martin will find lots of time in CF…. Across the river in AAA. Bader and Gasper took their roles to start the season. Lee will be in MLB because he is the primary backup to the middle infield. Like Castro last year, he will play almost every day… somewhere and likely just part of the game. Rocco uses up his bench every game. So you have to figure that we have so much depth that we have 13 starters in MLB and 5 bench guys in st. Paul.
  7. Likely another year of rehab. He will be fine next February… for a week or so…. I will patiently wait for his health to stick around.
  8. IKR! Optimism on this site is rarely permitted without intense scrutiny! It’s a pretty cheap way to take a flier on a kid that has a 98mph fastball and decent off speed stuff.
  9. If someone is desperate and wants to overpay, sure! Please overpay! Who do you want? We got depth…. Otherwise, we will be hoarding all the pitchers. We never have enough.
  10. If keaschall or Gasper are on the opening day roster, the one that is, is certainly Thee Sire. Not sure if Castellano deserves it just by getting a roster spot.
  11. Great info!!! We got health and we got depth! It’s kinda weird to not discuss who is going to cover an injury issue. Everyone in the last few rookie classes are developing nicely which may delay the ‘25 rookie classes a bit, unless someone just blows the door open. Thats a nice issue to have! Im pretty excited to see Lee knocking to ball around finally. Growth and maturity is nice to see this spring.
  12. Winokur is a freak of an athlete. If he cuts down his chase rate and K rate, he will start advancing quickly. Does anyone have video of Jaime Ferrer? From what I’ve read, he seems to have a nice set of tools to develop. is this the year that Danny De Andrade makes the leap to AAA? It would be nice to watch him in St.Paul!
  13. Dobber will likely get a spot start in September in MPLS. He may even sign up next year for a curtain call. He is legendary.
  14. A trade seems to be logical but why not throw him into the bullpen to see if he rises to the occasion and survives in MLB. We wont know until he is tested in the regular season!
  15. @ashbury without mentioning any picks from 2024, just in 21’-‘23 drafts, we have over a dozen viable MLB pitchers in our org that have either arrived or will get a chance by the end of next season. Thats long term success type of drafting/development!
  16. Oops, yes its was Debarge in comp round C.
  17. Sonny Gray returned us Charlie Soto also… The larger point is that the FO cant make all the right decisions or draft all the right players in every round. The organization has done a great job building up the pipeline since 2017. It was abysmal when they showed up.
  18. Sonny Gray was nice to have for 2 seasons. He was never a long term solution.
  19. Not entirely true that the FO doesn't draft high end pedigree SP. There is quite a long list of pitchers drafted by Falvey in the first 4/5 rounds since he got here. We just haven’t kept them all here. Our farm system was a mess in 16/17’ and has taken a long time to get to where it is now. (Top 5) in baseball doesn’t happen overnight. You cant make every decision correctly. Can you imagine what we would have if Hunter Green, Chase Petty and Cade Povich would be in our organization now?
  20. I don’t understand the hate for Paddack. He has had 2 tj injuries and came back strong. It takes time and effort to go thru that. Still in his 20’s, he could pitch another 6-10 years if he doesn’t get hurt. He could retire with a sub .4 career era if he continues to improve. His stuff plays best in relief and at some point, he could be an outstanding/elite setup guy!!
  21. Yes! This is exciting to see Stewart throwing darts! There may be an opportunity for him to be a set up man if Castellano/Alcala, Sands, Jax team up to be a 7/8/9 inning trio while Varland,Stewart,Duran are the 1st closing trio. There are a few different combinations that could be sent out every other day and obviously each game is different but having Stewart healthy and thriving is a huge deal for our bullpen!!
  22. He throws smoke and has a very good pitch mix. Lots of K’s.
