  1. They will likely both figure out the issues at some point. Miranda has higher upside if he can get fully healthy. Julien is more of a ghost since he is more replaceable by LK, Culpepper and a half dozen other guys that will be knocking the MLB door down over the next 2 seasons.
  2. I view a successful GM as a guy that can keep reloading talent and winning games. Especially in the playoffs. Drafting successfully is paramount to long term franchise health. Young guys have to play above their payroll as they develop into their prime. I see signing UDFA as the same thing. You gotta find that cheap missing link that everyone overlooked. Once you build a winner, you have to keep restocking the shelves every year. FA’s are nice but you need the cap space to sign the best ones in their prime. FA’s cant be the way to build. Its just not sustainable. A year ago, the smart people picked the vikes to win 6 games. The same people are now saying 10 wins. When you look at the new roster, 10 is light. McCarthy is a winner. Get used to WINNING!
  3. Lots of questions about McCarthy but really only one, can he win with a mature allstar type of team around him. and possibly the best head coach in the NFL right now. McCarthy is going to be wildly successful if he is anything close to serviceable. He could end up in MVP talk if the vikes roll from day one game one.
  4. All good points. His 579OPS is not going to keep him around. He did have a nice game last night. We should probably keep him around for now.
  5. I do agree that Buck is having an AllStar season. Take notice tho, France is leading the twins in hits and RBI’s and has played 10 more games than Buck while striking out 26 less times. (56-30) France might be a regression candidate but if he plays the final 2/3 of the season as well as the start, he will have some crazy good season stats.
  6. Amazing how maturity has made France’s game so much better. If there is an AllStar on the Twins so far, it’s him. Calm and cool and devastating to a pitcher’s plan. I have always been a fan of small ball where guys can string together 5/6 hits in an inning and chase the starter or ambush a RP. It’s a mental game as much as physical.
  7. They will continue to beat up on each other. Hope for 12 inning games in tiger town.
  8. The kid has great stuff. Give him some time because he will have a very nice MLB career.
  9. Speaking of Puckett, he did not hit a grand slam until the 1267th game of his career in 1992. I was at that game and 2 others that summer that he homered in after moving to MPLS in March. Almost caught 2 of them. It was a crazy summer!!
  10. The kittys are good but we are coming for them. We’re coming! Beware!!
  11. We need to start hitting the good pitches and work the count deep. Several 10 pitch AB’s would be nice in the 5th.
  12. We do need to hit on some young cheap guys that can overplay their draft pedigree. We will have dwindling salary cap in ‘26/27.
  13. Yeah, he was injured on the 25th just as the team was starting to win games regularly. Im still giving him credit for turning the clubhouse mentality around by playing like he did for just 7 games.
  14. If there is a missing piece, Kwesi will find it. compared to many seasons, it really feels like we are stacked full of a great talent mix of young studs and prime time vets. I honestly haven’t been this excited since Moss was a rookie. If McCarthy comes out and does nothing but win, win, win, We will be in for one hell of a great few years. Maybe beyond any expectations!
  15. The guy we need back the most is the guy that started this whole winning thingy. Luke Keaschall. Can’t wait to see him in the lineup next month!!
  16. @DocBauer I think they have absolutely nailed free agency. They structured the contracts well and got a mix of high end vets and possible upside high ceiling guys on the cheap/affordable if they stay healthy. The secondary is always a concern but we have enough on paper until we don’t. The next two offseasons will likey continue to focus on defense with Safety and CB the highest priority. If we make a deep playoff run, there will be a list of FA and college draftees that will be begging to play here and we will need to get younger quickly in several positions.
  17. @bean5302 I get down on lots of guys that get a long leash and don’t up their game to even be moderately successful. Margoh and Gallo along with the former whitesox pitcher Colume? And Pagan. Sands was also a head scratcher a few years ago. Some guys are just better playing for someone else.
  18. Hopefully his season turns around fast. We don’t need a low leverage guy with an era 7.0+
  19. Does Alcala have an option left? He needs to go across the river.
  20. McCrusher and Sabato are about the same age but their pro ball journey are night and day different.
