Came here just to add that Zebby at 14 is just comical at this point. If he isn’t their best prospect after Jenkins/Lee/Rodriguez, then I don’t know what to believe. Even then, easily their best starting pitcher prospect right? Festa is in that argument too, but Raya ahead of either of them feels just so wrong at this point. I should add, the top 3 with Zebby and Keaschall in my opinion are their top 5 prospects with a bullet.

I agree. He has been a stud this year. He also has played 3b and the outfield more than he has 2b, which has only been 15 games for him so far. I am not at all saying Castro is going anywhere. Frankly I could see him becoming either our primary left fielder this season or continuing in a utility role and play everywhere.

I do think we could use another good starting pitcher. I've long liked Luzardo, but I worry a bit about him as I see a slight drop in his average fastball velocity over the last month or so, and his 5/9 is lower than it has been in many years. IF Brooks Lee can come up and cover 2b (which I think he can, and I think he's not that far away) then I think Willi Castro could still be a full time player in a corner spot, and that could mitigate the need for a bat potentially. If not, I'd look hard at the corner outfield options closer to the end of July and see where we are at. That wouldn't be as much of a need today as it is when we know how healthy we are playing come that time. Bullpen, I'd be open to looking for a good lefty setup man, or at least someone who can get lefties out consistently.

Worth it to take a shot on a lottery ticket every once in a while. He didn’t work here, which happens. Baseball is hard. Wish him well

Who Says No To The Athletic's Proposed Twins Trade For Alonso - I DO!
Cory Engelhardt commented on LA Vikes Fan's blog entry in LA Vikes Fan
Two top 100 prospects for a rental 1b/dh is hard to swallow. I'd pass on that specific deal, even if I do think Alonso would give this lineup something it doesn't have already. -
I mean, to me, he will be a rental, and his salary for the remainder of the year is similar to what Kyle Farmer is making at this point. But maybe the Mets don't want to trade their face of their franchise in a lost year?

Good article. I do think Pete Alonso would be a GREAT addition to our lineup. We'll see.

Whatever works. I think he has a place in a major league roster, but if they are attempting to upgrade their outfield I'd make a lot of things work.

Martin was recalled already with Kirilloff being sent down yesterday. I do think his bat will help up here with how he has been doing. I'd love to be wrong, but I have a hard time projecting Wallner to be a real help. Severino too. The strikeout rates, even with power, is difficult for me to really get behind.

I have a hard time seeing Margot leave any time soon. He has started to produce a bit more. Lee will be up when he is ready. How does Severino improve the roster in any way? I guess I just don't see it.

I was going to add, Margot is starting to hit a little too it feels like. Hard to see either being that close to being cut/dfa'd.

Keaschall to me is absolutely in number of players who could be an outfield option too, in my opinion

Their salary overall isn't that bad. Plus with (probably) Kepler and Farmer and Margot and Vazquez and Santana (among others) all leaving after the year, some of this can be looked at to add salary too. Especially if they add a hitter who is signed through only this year, that's not hard to add. I'm NOT saying they will add Pete Alonso, but he is a free agent after the year, and his remaining salary for 2024 would be under 5 or 6 million by the deadline. That's not a huge dollar amount. We'll see.

I think they will/should be open to adding a right handed hitter who can be 1b/corner outfield with some pop. I like Miranda's season so far, but they need one more option that can fill in somewhere. I also think they should be open to a starting pitcher. I don't know if that means Luzardo, but he would be awesome here. After that, I could also see moving off some veterans. It wouldn't be "selling" per se, but that makes sense to me too.

Just saying, I don't subscribe to this defeatist mentality. If we have the chance to be in the playoffs, anything can happen. I certainly hope they attempt to add before the deadline, and the goal every year SHOULD be to be playing your best come September/October.

I have a really hard time, at the moment, keeping Festa over Zebby. Yes Festa has good stuff, but Zebby has the look more of a starter than Festa does. Unless Festa's command takes a huge spike up at some point, I still see a very good reliever when I see him. I'd love to be wrong. Zebby looks more like a starter, so I'd move him up a tier. I also wouldn't be itching to trade Keaschall either. That contact rate is really hard to ignore. My top tier would be close to the same, but I'd listen on Lee depending on the move.

It sure was. I'm just waiting for someone to grill their foot in a foreman grill ala Michael Scott at this point.

I had to read that line again of what happened. Did he just fall asleep while having the heat pack on? How does that happen? And can heating packs get THAT hot on their own? None of that makes any sense to me.

@Jamie CameronWould you consider Keaschall to be a fast riser prior to the 2022 draft?

Lee continuing to play SS is good. IF he gets recalled and is set to play another position, that SHOULD be ok right? I also see Cade Povich is starting for Baltimore today. Wish him well.

If the draft fell this way, I'd much more (at this point) want the Twins to take any of the following 3 picks instead of Jordan. Brecht, Christian or Malcolm Moore all interest me more than Jordan. He is a great athlete, but I question the strikeout rate in college getting better in the pros. Slade Caldwell also would be a homerun at 21 in my opinion. Really fun to see mocks start to hit twinsdaily though. Thanks!
