  1. He just signed a minor league deal with San Diego yesterday.
  2. I do think this wouldn't be showing it's head so fast IF Lewis and Kepler and Correa were healthy and performing, as well as Buxton and Julien performing, and Wallner, like we all expected them to so far. Farmer, fwiw, is well liked and from all accounts has been a good mentor to Julien. I'm not as down on him. Lots of season left still. If players get healthy and he only faces lefties, I think his bat can come around for what he can provide. Santana, ugh. I'm still befuddled that they didn't get a real power option here. I would have loved Rhys Hoskins here, and although his bat isn't showing a ton yet early on for Milwaukee either, I would have really liked a gamble like that. A trade for Pete Alonso would help the middle of the lineup a ton. I wonder if they bring up that conversation again at some point. I also get the idea that Santana historically takes good at bats and doesn't strike out (something this lineup needed more of obviously) but he just isn't right right now. Having Brooks Lee get hurt so fast hasn't helped either. Ugh. IF we are still saying these things in mid May, then the yelling will get much louder. Hopefully the rest of April, with getting Duran back soon and Correa, and facing the white sox and Angels a bunch, we get out of it close to a .500 record.
  3. Makes me think Miranda has a place on the team if he continues to hit in St. Paul. And Martin should get a chance to hit too. Both are good at making contact, and that's something that Kepler and Wallner (and others) aren't doing to start the season.
  4. These are both awesome announcements/news for the Twins. Let's add some more good talent to the organization!
  5. Woods Richardson is slated to start for the Saints tomorrow (Tuesday.) I have a hard time NOT having him at #1 on this list, especially with how he looked in the spring with a bit of added velocity. Hopefully Headrick and continue to look solid as well.
  6. I'd be on board with Boyd of the players you mentioned. I'd also still watch the waiver/opt out wire. Jake Odorizzi certainly has an opt out and would be a good fit here if they wanted depth.
  7. I'm not saying they have to add every single time it comes up. But I am saying they have depth right now (and will add more depth with the draft in June/July.) They have a lot of depth, and I believe enough they can trade to add to the team prior to the playoff push this season. I think it would be negligent to not add. I also think they can add without trading Lee or Jenkins. Are you saying you wouldn't trade from our prospect depth to help the team ever? That's what I would argue was the biggest downfall for the Terry Ryan led teams.
  8. They have a LOT of depth right now. NOT trying would be a slap in the face to the current major league roster no?
  9. They have decent depth. They have to add if they want to make an actual playoff push. This is their window. They can certainly add between now and August 1, and they will continue to build depth no? What is the harm in continuing to try?
  10. You mention trading for Luis Castillo instead of Tyler Mahle. I also know everyone (myself included) wanted Frankie Montas during that season. We see how that worked out for the Yankees. Can you 100% say that if the Twins had acquired Luis Castillo that he would have stayed healthy? I mean, he has stayed healthy, but point #1 is that pitching is not natural for the human body to do, so pitching itself causes the injuries right? I'm glad the front office is ok with taking swings. I'm disappointed they didn't add an impact starting pitcher this offseason (that was the word choice they had this past fall/offseason.) They do have quite a bit of depth it seems, but I still expect one to be added at some point.
  11. SWR is regularly hitting 93 and 94 this spring. I’m excited to see how he looks when games start. Canterino is on the injured list with shoulder inflammation.
  12. They have been as aggressive in adding, this front office, as any team during their tenure, especially the last 3 years or so
  13. Is Martin a better center fielder and option against left handed pitching than Margot? I don’t know that I can say that. I’m incredibly high on Martin and his future still, but Margot has skills too
  14. I do expect a trade for a playoff level starter at some point between now and the August deadline. But I agree, for now, I think they have the depth to make it work.
  15. I don't think it will happen at all, but Blake Snell IS a Twin. His Twin brother is an assistant coach at Shoreline Community College north of Seattle. Just wanted to throw that out there :)
  16. Buxton had been in the starting lineup, but pulled for caution as he had some lower back tightness. Hopefully it's nothing major.
  17. Herbert's cap hit to the Chargers is pretty extensive, and he has a no trade clause. He is good, and still young. I'd just imagine the front office want a young guy to hang their hats on. Very much willing to be wrong.
  18. Drake Maye was coached in high school by new QB's coach Josh McCown. Not that that means anything by itself, but to me it's interesting. McCown was also a teammate with Sam Darnold with the Jets the season Darnold was a rookie.
  19. I'm really not much of a football fan any longer. But the draft is still always fun. Hopefully they get their QB. Anyone have a favorite they can try and get?
  20. This was a fun one too. You guys do a great job! Thanks! I'd be curious what you would think/guess would be what the Twins would be looking at #21 and #33. In my head they would lean in to catcher for one of the spots and college pitching for the other, just going off of what Sean Johnson has always said, that they lean into the strengths of the draft. But I'm curious what you guys would think would be what they are focusing on. Have a great day!
  21. As the Saints always have said, fun is good!
  22. Agreed completely. 5th starters, middle relievers, quality bench players; those types of guys aren’t set to make big money like they would have 10 years ago
  23. It's so difficult for me to get mad about overall salaries for any team with the way that younger players get paid (even stars) compared to older/veteran players. I'm not certain how to fix that, but players being cheap/controlled for 6+ years once they make the majors certainly helps good teams have lower payrolls overall no?
