  1. If memory serves, either Steamer or Zips projected this team at 84-78. Not sure if they built in a horrific start, 4 months of really good ball, and then a complete collapse or not, but on balance it seems like we’re meeting expectations overall. With that said, this all still sucks and I don’t really think any sort of offseason makes up for it.
  2. Surprised you didn’t mention Connor Prielipp. At least he’s thrown some innings this year.🤔
  3. I’m surprised by Helman over Keirsey. I get the positional flexibility, but thought Keirsey has a higher upside bat. Appreciate if someone can help me understand.
  4. This seems to be more of a playoff roster type of move, but our outlook does seem pretty desperate. Maybe pairing up Festa and the Dobber to get us 6-7 innings every 5 days?
  5. Somewhere in Eden Prairie, an old man is getting a little misty reading this. Thanks John. Many happy returns.
  6. I spent the first month of the year thinking we were super thin in outfield depth. And then everyone started hitting and haven’t stopped (except Kepler). This is so fun to watch that I sometimes forget I have no way to watch them.
  7. It may not be the right choice, but it probably is. When Julien finds his swing again, they can swap him back in. That’s when the roster decision will be tough, and a DFA will be in play for Farmer or Margot.
  8. I still have PTSD from 2021. Happ, Shoemaker, Simmons, year 2 of Donaldson…I need to lay down for a minute.
  9. This is the first noticeable reporting error since I joined the community in 2012. Any other news organization would be delighted with that record. Don’t change a thing. Me and a whole bunch of other folks on this thread have your back.
  10. Seems like Lee is an injury replacement for Correa, Lewis, Julien, and Farmer. Love that flexibility!
  11. We’re asking a lot of Paddack and Varland to make 30 starts each, based on their respective track records. We’ll need at least 8 starters over the course of the year, not counting the doubleheader specials. Thinking of people we can honestly see making 5-10 starts each…Festa and SWR, sure. Then who? Canterino?
  12. Interesting, I thought Martin might get a longer look.
  13. Given the FO’s history of trading bat-first, defense-challenged middle infielders, isn’t it possible that the mid-season trade for a frontline starter is centered on Julien?
  14. I would agree on Staumont. That seemed like a pretty intentional signing. In related news, it appears the Saints bullpen will be loaded as well.
  15. Instead of buying a card and flowers, I showed your virtual cards to my wife…and she thought they were cute! Thanks Melissa!
  16. There’s a lot to unpack here. First off, as a certified old fart, I understand and appreciate your quarter life crisis. Mine didn’t come until the age of 31, then a couple since. They have their own schedule. I’m happy that your appetite for self-harm seems to be limited to an occasional Baconator. Next is the correct usage of “expurgating”, which even auto correct doesn’t know what to do with. Finally, the answer to your question is anytime the Damn Yankees beat us in the playoffs. I hate those guys.
  17. Maybe we’re going with 4 starters and 10 in the bullpen. Starters go 4 innings, then 5 one-inning relievers in a row. Yes, I’m kidding. Please. Somebody tell me I must be joking.
  18. Thanks Seth, another great summary of a potential Twin! It seems like we have several college arms that profile as starters. It will be fun following their careers, especially the ones who weren’t high draft picks — they have great stories! Happy birthday to Darren!
  19. That’s an excellent write up. Now I feel like I should have appreciated him more while he was here.
  20. He may not fit the preferred hitting profile, but he does fit the cost profile. He’s only 26 and hasn’t played 100 games in a year at the major league level. My guess is one more year as the preferred incumbent, but he has to stay healthy.
  21. Still not sold on this guy. I think the Twins got a better return on the trade because they took him off their hands. With that said, and as my wife will tell you, I’ve been wrong before. Kinda hope I am here too.
