    He’s gone and I don’t care to re-litigate any further. And while I anxiously consume articles like “Just Who Is the 9th-best LF in the System?”, I acknowledge the real need to just fast forward to the day John reposts “Pitchers and Catchers Report”. Anyone else ready?

    Thanks Nick, this is really thought provoking. So here’s my question: If 1/3 of this list aren’t on the big league roster yet, how should I think about when our next legit championship window should open? Is it 2 years away? More than that?

    I was listening to The Smiths earlier tonight. I think “How Soon Is Now?” would be a great marketing slogan for this year’s Twins.

    552 innings is about 60 games, so 15 games a year thus far. Even if used only as a defensive replacement, he would still end up batting in close games. No, thank you.

    I have a hard time believing we signed Santana, France, and now Bell because Alex Kiriloff couldn’t stay healthy and then abruptly retired, and yet here we are. Where have all the first basemen gone? It used to be a position that guys actually played, not just someplace to stick your worst defender. If anyone needs me I’ll be hitching my pants up to my armpits, sitting down on the porch and telling the neighbor kids to stay out of my yard.

    I’d rather see ERod or Jenkins take big league swings and struggle a bit than watch whatever the ‘26 version of Outman does.

    Clickbait? Maybe. Still drew 60 comments from people just like me who are dying for any type of news, ideas, or rumors since there are no transactions to speak of.

    After trading a quarter of the 40 man at the deadline, I’m not shocked by the state of the current roster. It will look very different by the time pitchers and catchers report, assuming some sort of payroll floor is set. Until then, I trust the TD community to post up multiple pages of comments on posts like this. So, honestly, thanks for giving me something to do over the winter.

    Of all those, I think Lee has a chance to at least be useful to the roster. If (when?) Culpepper supplants him at SS, he should be the primary utility infielder. The rest of these guys prove that getting to the majors is tough. Staying there is reserved for pretty rare levels of talent and performance.

    Nelson Cruz, hands down. Get everyone on his napping schedule. It would be like old school kindergarten in the clubhouse: unroll your nap rug, down a carton of milk, and nap away your troubles. Homers will ensue, I’m sure of it!

    I remember the Gene Mauch years well when I was a kid. He presided over a decline in talent from 1976 to 1980, including Carew, Bostock and Hisle all leaving for greener pastures. i see the 1976 Twins, who won 85 games, drew about 750k fans for the year. Maybe Met Stadium didn’t have much capacity? Tough to remember as an 8 year old.

    I’m fine with this as long as we add a “Cole Sands bar” to the bullpen.

    I think our ‘26 outfield should be Buxton, Jenkins, Rodriguez, Gonzales, and Martin. Wallner as DH or a corner when injuries dictate. Let the kids occasionally play CF when Buck needs a day. The accurately named Outman needs more time in St. Paul, so he should be 2 injuries away from the major league roster.

    When I take the kids to a game, we buy the cheapest tickets and never sit down. They like circling the stadium, finding their favorite concessions, and seeing Sue the organist. How about discounting the standing room tickets for kids? seriously, they just need to try something.

    Too bad the advanced stats don’t go back 50 years. How would someone like Willie Norwood compare? Bombo Rivera? Oh wait…Mickey Hatcher. That’s a comparison to see.
