Another great summary Seth, The Clippers were too much for our pitchers. I was concerned about Emma's early exit but happy with the others' production, it was a tough loss. I went to check the AA boxscore but the AAA boxscore popped up.

A much needed win. Now let's take care of the Reds. Buxton is back! Hope he finds his swing against them. Now we need Correa back, Maybe against CLE?

SWR has pitched far beyond everybody's expectations & now you expect him to pitch well beyond his expected MLB innings & still maintain his previous performance? It's to be expected to have some fatigue that affects their performance from our rookies. It shouldn't take much to see that we'd desperately need help in the rotation in the offseason & that DeSclavani wasn't going to contribute much. The 3 rookies especially SWR have admirably stepped up but there is a limit to what they are able to do.

Castro & Martin aren't CFers but they are very good utility players, IMO they could make that diving catch that Keirsey made look easy. They shouldn't be lumped together with Margot. Because Castro & Martin aren't CFers, I'm glad we finally have Keirsey, a true CFer, available to play there on more regularity. Just a shout-out to Farmer, who hit a big HR against a righty. Maybe he's back better than ever.

Congrats to Keirsey for that nice catch & 1st MLB hit. Keep up the good work! Lewis wasn't playing but he looked more excited than Keirsey over his 1st hit.

Angels (Canning) vs Twins (Lopez): 9/10/24, 6:40pm

These few games w/o Vazquez will be scary. -
Thanks, Matthew, for this very pertinent article & the Carleton research report. With all the injuries we've had, we've had to rely a lot on younger players that haven't built up a lot of endurance yet. Although I think the Twins are aware of the need to give breaks to players yet IMO they could do better, especially down the the stretch. The call-up of Keirsey is well overdue & Lee's return is very welcomed. This frees up Castro & Martin more to get a breather & give breaks to other players. Which IMO should improve overall chase rates & overall production.

The time to groom Keirsey as Buxton's replacement was in the beginning of the year not now (he not going to be our savior at this stage of the game). Margot should have never been acquired. He took valuable playing time from Martin against LHPs to ease him in & Martin was left with the more difficult RHPs that Keirsey would have had an easier time with. Because of that & playing CF over an extended time (a difficult position he's just started to learn) Martin has been stymied. If Keirsey was available he'd acquired the needed MLB experience needed to better our chances down the stretch & ease Martin's burden. Helman isn't a super-utility player at the MLB level, he shouldn't be trusted to play CF or SS. So the positions that he can play is cOF & 2B (positions where we are well represented). Martin is a much better selection than Helman. Keirsey is still a much-needed call-up even though it's 6 months late. I agree with many that he looks good at the plate, and that the 0-3 isn't a fair representation of his true potential. I wish him well, not only because I like him but also because we need him.

Royce Lewis Has Run Out of Gas
Doctor Gast replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm sure Lewis would be more than happy to play 2B. His knowing where his limitations are at 2B isn't the problem. The problem is forcing him in the middle of the season to do something that is uncomfortable for him that robs him of that spark to help him excel in the grind. I wouldn't doubt his slump started shortly after he was informed that he was moved to 2B. I'm also sure that it takes tremendous endurance to play through a MLB season. & that endurance takes a long time to possess & the time taken away due to injury just magnifies the problem. If left at 3B & have him work on his throwing, would have been a lot easier for Lewis to get through the grind w/o the added emotional baggage. MLB players are human. contrary to popular belief. -
Did I say that we need to rely on Varland & Keirsey to lead the team? Absolutely not! "I've stated that the team has been overstretched for a long time & needs them desperately to give breaks to these overstretched players so they can bounce back & give us quality production," This is a small role but a very important one for us to thrive Please read my texts & don't read into them what I didn't say.

The team is running on fumes because there's no fire especially in the line-up. Sims was good until he ran out of gas. The BP was steady today & Vazquez went 3 for 3 but nobody could hit him in. Maybe now Castro with some rest can settle in & produce some runs against LAA & CIN to get us started. Then wait for a miracle because there seems to be no hope & rescue may be too late with Varland & Keirsey to settle in.

Kepler was more of a LFer but Rosario was there. Rosario was more of a RFer but that switch never happened. Kepler just got settled in RF. IDK if Kepler will keep on playing after this year. I don't think he'll get the money that is worth adapting to another team. IMO he really enjoyed his time here & he'll move on from MLB. But could very likely be wrong. When he hurt himself early in the season they should have shut him down & taken care of the problem instead of him limping around all season. We had the players who needed the playing time to help get ready for the time when Kepler will leave. Once he gets fixed better he could help the club going for the stretch.

Yes, Baldelli's management style is baffling. Last night was a good example of following the spreadsheet and not your heart. Not sticking with Ober, not following with Jax. Baldelli has the potential to become a pretty good manager. If he was brought in as a bench coach under Molitor, they could potentially learn from each other. But this FO wants basically a "yes man" who follows the spreadsheets. This kind of game takes out the little wind left in the sails. That plus other things cast this team adrift, endangered to have KC pass them for good & have either DET, BOS & even SEA to catch them, much less thinking about winning the division & having a successful postseason. It all started this offseason with a great core but by messing with the chemistry, not trading for our real needs & doing fluff that did nothing to improve the team. that extended into the deadline. That sends the wrong message to the players.

Pretty exciting Saints' game, with exciting performance from Emma & Eeles. Amazing performance from Preillip, what they are doing with him seems to be working as far as his performance & keeping him on the mound.
