The team is running on fumes because there's no fire especially in the line-up. Sims was good until he ran out of gas. The BP was steady today & Vazquez went 3 for 3 but nobody could hit him in. Maybe now Castro with some rest can settle in & produce some runs against LAA & CIN to get us started. Then wait for a miracle because there seems to be no hope & rescue may be too late with Varland & Keirsey to settle in.

Kepler was more of a LFer but Rosario was there. Rosario was more of a RFer but that switch never happened. Kepler just got settled in RF. IDK if Kepler will keep on playing after this year. I don't think he'll get the money that is worth adapting to another team. IMO he really enjoyed his time here & he'll move on from MLB. But could very likely be wrong. When he hurt himself early in the season they should have shut him down & taken care of the problem instead of him limping around all season. We had the players who needed the playing time to help get ready for the time when Kepler will leave. Once he gets fixed better he could help the club going for the stretch.

Yes, Baldelli's management style is baffling. Last night was a good example of following the spreadsheet and not your heart. Not sticking with Ober, not following with Jax. Baldelli has the potential to become a pretty good manager. If he was brought in as a bench coach under Molitor, they could potentially learn from each other. But this FO wants basically a "yes man" who follows the spreadsheets. This kind of game takes out the little wind left in the sails. That plus other things cast this team adrift, endangered to have KC pass them for good & have either DET, BOS & even SEA to catch them, much less thinking about winning the division & having a successful postseason. It all started this offseason with a great core but by messing with the chemistry, not trading for our real needs & doing fluff that did nothing to improve the team. that extended into the deadline. That sends the wrong message to the players.

Pretty exciting Saints' game, with exciting performance from Emma & Eeles. Amazing performance from Preillip, what they are doing with him seems to be working as far as his performance & keeping him on the mound.

Royals were the better team last night. We have some great rookies but we are depending far too much on them. We have 3 rookie SP who we have put a heavy load on them. Martin has done very well for a rookie that's learning a new position. We have put him in the fire & a heavy load on him. We depend on him & Lewis for firing up the troops especially when Correa & Buxton are down. But Martin put in this situation is hard for him to maintain his production much less create that fire. Fire is what we desperately need on this team right now. They have it into their heads that Lewis has to play 2B, when Lewis doesn't feel comfortable playing there. For some time they have pressured him to play there. How can Lewis produce on the field & that fire that we desperately need when he's unhappy & uncomfortable? This FO has weird ideas for putting players in certain positions & how to go about doing it at the detriment of the team. It would have been much better to coach Lewis better at 3B in how to improve his throwing than have him learn a different position he's not comfortable with in the middle of the season. I applaud the team for trying to compete with other teams by improving their baserunning. But Watkin has no feel on how to coach that at 3B. The only thing he was good for before was to slap the players on the butt after hitting a HR.

The situation was that this was Keirsey's 1st MLB game ever, which means there's a lot of nerves, hasn't developed any confidence, not knowing this OF, where the wall is, being cautious of the wall while trying to make that catch. Once he gain confidence, feel of the MLB OFs & etc IMO he would make that catch.

Now I'm not accusing you, Stringer but there are many who like to put negative labels on rookies with negative expectations. Let's get this Andrew Stevenson out of our heads & give Keirsey every benefit of the doubt, he hasn't even swung a bat yet! Let's understand that he's a rookie let's not put up standards on him that veterans can't do. Martin is another rookie that many look down on. He has shown great athleticism but everyone is expecting him to be a Buxton. He's a rookie who has been asked to learn a new MLB premium position on the fly facing difficult MLB RHPs. A position he should have been brought on slowly but had been thrown into the fire of playing there regularly (no wonder it's sometimes overwhelming) while Buxton has been hurt while babying veteran Margot.

Returning from a long IL stint, just getting his feet wet at AAA, after injury (I think that is a big enough challenge in itself). I wouldn't doubt they'd want him to get some AFL playing time in under his belt before bringing him up for next season & there's the question of service time. So I'd doubt it.

A nice much-needed squeaker win, thanks to good pitching. More than 9 out of 10 CFers wouldn't make that catch that Keirsey missed. That close to the wall the present Buxton might not have made that catch. The ease that Keirsey got to the ball made it look easier than it was. Under different situations, Keirsey would have made that catch.

KC is w/o Vinnie which is why they are losing. He made up a lot of their offense. With him, they'd give CLE a lot more trouble. We shouldn't have that much trouble even in KC.

Twins Prospect Retrospective: OF DaShawn Keirsey, Jr
Doctor Gast replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It might take a little while before he gets over his nerves but Keirsey will settle in as our 2nd best CFer behind Buxton. His speed will be very valuable for the Twins on the base paths (which the Twins kinda suck). He has raked in AAA let's see how that translates into MLB. It's a pity that he hadn't been up earlier when Wallner & Julien were sent down, Kiriloff got hurt & Kepler was streaky. offensively we could have used his LH bat, Since Correa, Buxton, Lee & Lewis hurt for a good part of the season, his glove in CF would have helped. His speed could always help on the bases. Castro is due for a break finally & Keirsey can give him that. He's finally here so congratulations Keirsey & wish you the best in the MLB. I'm kinda excited to see how he does. -
Byron Buxton Ejected from Rehab Game in St. Paul
Doctor Gast replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
What I wish for is fairness. I'm against steroids, personal goldilocks balls, illegal sticky stuff. illegal sign stealing & for a straight ABS system. There are teams that are for or against these things because they benefit from them. I'm not at the point of having A I androids to replace human referees, if that is what you are referring to. -
I looked at that so-called "errant throw" by Varland. It looked like a perfectly good throw, Thrown where the runner could be picked off & a good 1Bman should handle. IMO it was on Santana.

It's hard to play flawless ball with rookies in general, rookies & players learning a new position not to mention the normal grind; that goes with the territory. Varland was sailing through 2 innings where I thought he could make it to the 6th. Rookie Varland's time at SP has been shaky (although technically this wasn't a start). TB is great at playing fundamental baseball, which means a good base running game. Besides moving up runners, it shakes up the pitcher (which Twins are not good at). This tactic paid off against Varland, turning a smooth outing into a disaster. It was a disappointing game which I hope Varland can grow from. As long as Correa & Buxton are out of the lineup, I'm afraid we will have more of these games, friend.

Byron Buxton Ejected from Rehab Game in St. Paul
Doctor Gast replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
So much for the human element! Is this how we want the game controlled? The human element is flawed, a game that is hung in the balanced by millimeters & seconds, the human error should be minimized not glamorized, Buxton acted correctly by respectfully confronting the error & then walked away. The umpire did not -
