  1. Nothing has been said about Castellano except that he's not making the club after camp breaks. No DFA, no returning to PHI. Is there a trade being worked out? Because I think we could have continued with him until the end.
  2. Donaldson had calf problems before coming to MN. I'm not sure if he had calf problems with MN but he had problems with his hamstrings, due to over-compensating for his calves, Your back is part of your throwing process. It's not coincident that both Miranda & Kiriloff having shoulder problems & both coming down with back problems probably due to being coached to maximize their back motion to preserve their shoulders from further more severe shoulder problems after being moved off 1B/ DH to more arm demanding positions in order to keep their hot bats in the line-up. Julien & Gasper are both a liability at 2B. Keaschall is coming off surgery we have no idea when he'll be able to start to play 2B. He isn't on the 40 man so even if he's 100% healthy, he'll really have to blow the doors off to be considered to replace Martin. But if Julien & Gasper are our options then he'll be rushed. Again Martin isn't needed in the OF, it'd be a waste if they continue another poor choice about Martin.
  3. W/o Lewis & Lee, our INF is on very thin ice. We knew that before we started the season that Lewis, Lee & Correa were difficult to count on for the whole season. They had doubts whether Miranda could be healthy & be productive at 1B so to begin ST & beginning of the season they threw him at 3B because of course, 3B is much easier on his shoulder than 1B?????? (Not!!!!), In their concern to get Julien, Gasper & France in the INF they made our INF very fragile. Julien & France on the right side is a disaster waiting to happen. Just think in time Correa & or Miranda get hurt which is very likely, Where will we be? It was a big mistake to jam Martin in CF, which isn't his natural position. We already had 2 true RH CFers & 1 true LH CFer. 2B is a much greater need that Martin could easily fill because it's more his natural position. Twins should have abandoned hope with Julien at 2B a long time ago & had him learn 1B & hand 2B to Martin. Martin's hitting has been far below his potential, from being preoccupied with trying to master an unfamiliar & difficult position on its highest level. Keep Keirsey up & send Martin down to AAA to refamiliarize himself again at 2B & get his mojo back & bring him back up as soon as possible to cover 2B, Keep Julien at DH to mitigate the damage he'd do at 2B & when Martin is ready, send Julien down to AAA learn 1B, shift France to DH & Miranda to 1B. Martin could be the stabilizing force we need at 2B until Keaschall is ready to take it from him. But it takes forever for the Twins to admit a mistake & change for the good of the Twins.
  4. I was in favor & advocated last season, that Varland not waste his bullets in AAA to be a SP but be brought up & kept up as a RP. When he was brought up as a SP, he was unimpressive. Many short-sighted fans completely gave up on Varland, I have always seen Varland's value as a RP. IMO Varland could become a SP but his avenue is 1st via the BP.
  5. We really need Lee to stabilize 2B but like I've said all along with Lee's chronic back problem & the Twins need him to play the right side so to count on him to be the primary 2B is asking too much. Castro is needed as the utility player. That leaves Julien to man 2B to team up with France to cover the right side. Yikes!!!!!!!!! with Gasper as backup which isn't much better. Twins have 3 very good true CFers (2RH & 1LH) why force Martin at CF in the 1st place? Give those opportunities to Keirsey. In '23, Martin was left alone at basically 2B & did very well, a place where he's more natural at. Our greatest need is at fragil 2B, not CF. One more time give Martin a chance at 2B & see if his hitting turns around & give us some stability at 2B. If he can't hit in the short time left with ST, send him down to AAA (with Julien, who needs to learn 1B) to get his mojo back. & have Castro cover 2B until he does. With Lee's chronic back problem, he should be limited to INF utility & help out at 3B as much as possible now that Lewis is out. & hopefully, it's manageable.
  6. Strange way to break in a young pitcher.
  7. Lopez pitched a good game. But Wheeler against our B & C squad is no match. IMO our A squad would have needed the confrontation more.
  8. Kepler is having a pretty good ST. Good luck to him.
  9. IMO you're off on your thinking on who should be core & who's promising. But should we deprioritize Lewis from the Twins? The answer is absolutely not! IMO there are players who shouldn't be prioritized. but Lewis isn't one of them. From '21 when he had his 1st ACL he played 0 games, '22 his 2nd ACL he played a few games. Now after his ACL surgeries playing 3B, in '23 he played around 1/3 of all the games maybe more, '24 he played around 1/2 of all the games maybe more. So why shouldn't he be deprioritized? #1 his intangibles, knowledge of the game, character, leadership & motivation to win & be better. #2 his production especially in important games, when it matters. #3 Further away from his ACL injuries, he'll become stronger with fewer & less severe soft-tissue issues as he is trending. I expect him to play over 100 games this season. I rebuke the idea that he's injury-prone. As long as he's not playing OF, he should be fine & continue to come up big when we need him the most.
  10. Teams have only 2 challenges, they can't call a bunch of close calls, Even if they call them all right, that makes the umps look bad, they don't like to look bad. If they miss a couple of very close ones early they are at the mercy of the umps.
  11. On paper, the Twins were supposed to win the Central easily last season, and CLE (w/o SP & look terrible on paper) was supposed to duke it out with rising KC and DET for second. Which goes to show that "on paper" based on HRs can't be depended on. Where true player evaluations, drafting, developing fundamentals (like defense & baserunning) & having faith in the players you develop are not counted but have a tremendous effect on the game. Clutch hitting by learning how to go the other way & not striking out is not lucky, it's learned. CLE always prepares their players correctly & often surprises the "on paper" people. But one thing that draws them back. Not extending the players they need to extend (except Jose Ramirez), not extending Josh Naylor & trading away Gimenez created a big hole in the right side. And Santana will not be able to save them like he couldn't with Julien playing 2B for us. I'm hoping the Twins can overcome what they have been doing wrong & win the division (although Julien/ France defensive hole is worse than CLE) & CLE more than likely this year finish 4th because of the selloff but if the Twins don't learn then they'll be battling CLE for 3rd.
  12. There's too much focus on HRs. I want Jenkins to be a hitter 1st, HRs will come. I don't want a Gallo type hitter that strikes out a ton. I don't care about Fangraph rankings
  13. You're right. You gotta take advantage of every boot because you can't always depend on HRs
  14. Crap Bergman give Miranda a chance like you did to France
  15. But he is giving it to BOS
  16. Dang ump is not calling the outside corner for Paddack
  17. Julien wouldn't get close to that ball
  18. talking with Watkin was distracting
  19. Big pitch & Paddack made it
  20. WOW! Bergman missed one. We gotta make them pay
