  1. Social media had Varland cooked. Just goes to prove that you have to take what you hear on social media with a grain of salt. I never had any doubt that Varland could be a high-leverage RP. BP seems volatile yet I think Varland is dependable.
  2. Bingo! I've been preaching this for years. Yet nobody listens because it's the opposite of what social media propagates.
  3. Twins had one game plan before & that was to hit HRs. But defense, fundamentals, situational hitting, & baserunning have been abandoned. Twins have talked about changing & getting a running game going but they keep playing the same players who aren't good at it. IMO, they started to do this with NYM. They took the series against a rising NYM team that have been undefeated since. Twins have to change in how they play the game (get back to playing baseball), We need players who can get on base, steal bases, drive pitchers crazy & score runs. It seems they have taken Keaschall seriously, we need more than Buxton & Keaschall. Our team would be so much more exciting. & someone break Baldelli's I Pad.
  4. Understood, still would like to know what's going on. After 10 days, there's still no update.
  5. A must-win against a AAA team, w/o Martin Perez, CWS also had a bad day. Not impressive, but still a win. It still took a great play by Buck to keep the game from getting out of hand.
  6. Twins' MiLB teams did well. The Saints finally got an easy team to clobber. Austin Martin was on the 7-day IL. He should have been back last weekend, What's up?
  7. I was against the Paddack/ Pagan trade from the beginning. I didn't like trading away our only stable BP force (Rogers) for an arm that was ready to fall off & at best a middle RP. It turned out to be a mess & I'm not counting Rooker. I'd still pick Royce Lewis. Hind-sight is 20/20 & does no good to focus on it. Royce still has a very bright future, so look ahead, not behind. We have too many short-sighted people in this world.
  8. Both CWS & CO had pretty good teams, but both crashed because they had bad management, starting with FO. CO is stuck on the bottom because of bad management. They won't change until management changes. Twins won't change until management changes. SF changed management the team changed with basically the same team even w/o Snell.
  9. Firing Baldelli won't change anything if you keep Falvey in charge. I'd clean the whole slate except the pitching.
  10. I'm a firm believer in this core that did so well in the '23 playoffs. We can still win with them. I don't blame them for the lack of fire & chemistry, I blame management. I'm against trading them away, but all in for firing management from the top down. They should have been fired last offseason, not promoted. IDK if firing them during the season will help (maybe Gardenhire can help if left alone). But if the team isn't sold, management is still in place, then we have no choice but to trade off the core because we can't win with anybody while we still have this management in place. So why keep them & pay their expensive salary? But it'll be a shame.
  11. Strangely, the lineup did well, except for the last game, w/o their best hitter (Wallner). If the Twins had won at least the 2 games they should have won against ATL, the situation would have been different. But a blown save, poor BP decision (Topa as an opener) & bad umpiring at ATL meant a sweep. I agree with tony&rodney that last week is done. But the Twins need to learn from their mistakes. The Wallner & Julien at leadoff experiment is a total flop. Buxton was great, especially against LHPs, as leadoff. But still, in my opinion, the Twins need to groom a traditional leadoff hitter. Buxton was on fire, and Correa looked like he broke out of his funk with an HR. Hope new additions Keaschall & Lee can make a difference going forward. The Twins need to navigate in what really works & stick with it, while quickly ditch what does not. The quicker they finally do this, the better, because it's getting late.
  12. The last 2 seasons, the Twins have been good at resurrecting other teams, BTW Hans, very appropriate title for Easter. The Twins' lineup did well in the 1st 2 games & should have won, but the last game was a disaster.
  13. You have to keep reminding yourself that results don't matter, it's maintaining to their process no matter what which really matters.
  14. Buck is on fire, Correa hit his 1st HR. The game was most certainly winnable. So far Buck makes more sense as the leadoff hitter on the active roster. I'm open to the opener, Raya, sure, but Topa??????? Even if he didn't pitch the day before, he still doesn't make sense. Simmy is a SP. Why throw him off? Having Alcala pitch 2 innings could come back to bite us. In my opinion, Baldelli's bad BP move again cost us the game.
  15. By far, Paddack's best game was too bad that he didn't get the win. He might end up in the BP, not because he's not a good SP, but more because we might need him in the BP. I hope Stewart comes back strong. It was exciting to see Keaschal hit. He loves hitting. 87% of the game was enjoyable, the last 13% was not (I went to bed before that).
  16. I have to admit that I don't have the gift to evaluate pitching, so I can't say that I've seen what you have seen. But I agree with you in many cases that your eye needs to be trusted more than stats. Something seems to be wrong with Jax & good teams are capitalizing on it.
  17. One of the main reasons for the shift is to hide the poor 2Bman. Because of the shift ban, the Twins stretch limits as far as they can, shading platinum glove Correa as close to 2B as he can & shading GG Santana towards 2B as far as he can, to try to make Julien look acceptable. Besides, balls getting through the peripherals ( I saw too many GBs getting by Santana on the 1B side), they were GBs still bleeding between the 2. We don't need a GG 1Bman (although someone better than France), we need a 2Bman that can cover the necessary ground & make the plays.
  18. I like to share an observation. On 3-31-25, CWS was smoking the Twins 9-0, Baldelli admitted defeat & raised the white flag. He took out Buxton & Correa & put in the scrubs, the scrubs held their own & Twins lost 9-0. Keirsey played in that game, next day, he pinch ran, stole a base & scored, Twins won their 1st game. On 4-9, Keirsey started his 1st game, Twins won. 6 days later, he replaced injured Wallner & went 1 for 3, the Twins won against NYM, next day he started against NYM, Twins won. Finally getting some regular ABs, he's got a 2-game hitting streak. I'm not saying Keirsey is the Twins '25 magic sausage, I don't believe in luck. I don't believe in pagan baseball gods either, but I believe Keirsey is blessed. Just him being in the lineup means that the normally dead lineup comes alive. If the Twins keep giving Keirsey regular ABs, he'll not only bless the Twins with his presence but also his production. My suggestion to the Twins is to change from looking for ways to keep Keirsey from playing to start looking for ways to keep him in the lineup. I'm sending a message to all of Twinsdom- Twins, fans & Keirsey, that DaShawn Keirsey Jr. is blessed.
  19. "The collaboration between the front office and the manager and his staff is so seamless that they'll have a hard time pointing fingers at one another." Great job, Sherry. Yeah, it's frustrating not knowing who to blame. But because it's so seamless, they're all to blame, starting from the top. What do they call keep doing the same thing & expecting a different result? Firing Baldelli won't change anything. Tingler will step in & be worse & later hire another Baldelli. If you want change you need to do it at the top.
  20. There are more than casual fans who have stopped going to the games
  21. By June, Lewis, Miranda & Martin should be back.
  22. I hope that Keaschal can come up & push Julien & or France off 2B & 1B to the DH spot. Hope is Falvey's primary drive in his transactions. IMO, it'd have benefited Keaschal & Twins more if they had kept Keaschal at AAA longer to ensure his recovery process & have him build up more confidence in AAA; To have him blow the doors off AAA before coming up, His #s are fine but not that impressive. IMO. it's more now, flaming the spark among the fans to get them to the park, to see a fan favorite, Keaschal. Why waste another roster spot on Bride, if Keaschal is their hope?
  23. IMO, like last year, Jeffers is a little slow getting going & now is due to start to hit like he's capable of. But even in equal tandem, getting later in the season, he'll start to wane.
