  1. Kepler is having a pretty good ST. Good luck to him.
  2. IMO you're off on your thinking on who should be core & who's promising. But should we deprioritize Lewis from the Twins? The answer is absolutely not! IMO there are players who shouldn't be prioritized. but Lewis isn't one of them. From '21 when he had his 1st ACL he played 0 games, '22 his 2nd ACL he played a few games. Now after his ACL surgeries playing 3B, in '23 he played around 1/3 of all the games maybe more, '24 he played around 1/2 of all the games maybe more. So why shouldn't he be deprioritized? #1 his intangibles, knowledge of the game, character, leadership & motivation to win & be better. #2 his production especially in important games, when it matters. #3 Further away from his ACL injuries, he'll become stronger with fewer & less severe soft-tissue issues as he is trending. I expect him to play over 100 games this season. I rebuke the idea that he's injury-prone. As long as he's not playing OF, he should be fine & continue to come up big when we need him the most.
  3. Teams have only 2 challenges, they can't call a bunch of close calls, Even if they call them all right, that makes the umps look bad, they don't like to look bad. If they miss a couple of very close ones early they are at the mercy of the umps.
  4. On paper, the Twins were supposed to win the Central easily last season, and CLE (w/o SP & look terrible on paper) was supposed to duke it out with rising KC and DET for second. Which goes to show that "on paper" based on HRs can't be depended on. Where true player evaluations, drafting, developing fundamentals (like defense & baserunning) & having faith in the players you develop are not counted but have a tremendous effect on the game. Clutch hitting by learning how to go the other way & not striking out is not lucky, it's learned. CLE always prepares their players correctly & often surprises the "on paper" people. But one thing that draws them back. Not extending the players they need to extend (except Jose Ramirez), not extending Josh Naylor & trading away Gimenez created a big hole in the right side. And Santana will not be able to save them like he couldn't with Julien playing 2B for us. I'm hoping the Twins can overcome what they have been doing wrong & win the division (although Julien/ France defensive hole is worse than CLE) & CLE more than likely this year finish 4th because of the selloff but if the Twins don't learn then they'll be battling CLE for 3rd.
  5. There's too much focus on HRs. I want Jenkins to be a hitter 1st, HRs will come. I don't want a Gallo type hitter that strikes out a ton. I don't care about Fangraph rankings
  6. You're right. You gotta take advantage of every boot because you can't always depend on HRs
  7. Crap Bergman give Miranda a chance like you did to France
  8. But he is giving it to BOS
  9. Dang ump is not calling the outside corner for Paddack
  10. Julien wouldn't get close to that ball
  11. talking with Watkin was distracting
  12. Big pitch & Paddack made it
  13. WOW! Bergman missed one. We gotta make them pay
  14. IMO our true wild cards are Prielipp, Morris & Raya. Alcala & Varland are true high-leverage RPs if managed properly. Keep Alcala at 1, nonconsecutive innings & Varland in the BP. I shared on Castellano before. I was disappointed with losing Canterino & Duran will remain a good RP but how good? RPs aren't very high on the totem pole but in the Twins case, it could be pivotal.
  15. You mentioned mop-up games when we were losing. I'd like to think that those mop-up games are from games we are winning too.
  16. Lopez & Correa deserves to be on any top 100 MLB players' list. But I don't give much credence on their bWAR.
  17. I used to get all excited about the draft, the articles on our prospects, and subscribing to the athletic (which I dropped last year) but last couple of years or so I've come to the conclusion that this team won't reach it's full potential under this management. Yes, Falvey has finally got the pitching pipeline pumping (what he was hired to do) but most everything else he has come short. I don't care if we don't have money to spend on FAs that Falvey wants to sign, Our competitors spend less & are more optimistic than us. I don't want us to sign FAs, I want the Twins to develop our young players & have enough faith in their efforts to play them & if we don't have the young players to fill the areas of need go out there & trade for them. I have total faith in the core that broke that curse of record consecutive postseason losses. But not in this organization. Unless something significant changes soon, I'm fighting it but I might take a break from the Twins. If the Twins don't have faith in the work that they're doing with the young players, why should I have faith in the Twins?
  18. PHI would like Castellano back & MN would like to keep him. It's a game of chicken. PHI won't trade him because they think they can get him back. I'm split depending on the character of Castellano, his development would not be ideal under the MN situation, and how he'd react would affect whether to keep him or not. I'm a firm believer of correctly managing the BP & normally I'd say no to this idea because I wouldn't want someone in the BP that I couldn't send down. But I'm very impressed with this year's BP corp with the depth & the upper leverage they are capable of throwing. We have Varland, Topa & temporarily Alcala that can be optioned with likes of Funderburg & Dobnak that can come up to help out to cover any need where we can hide Castellano in the mop-up role until he graduates to low leverage. If we show PHI that we are able & determined to keep Castellano, it'll better our chances of winning this game of chicken & agree on a trade. We have a lot of promising young pitchers, Do we really need Castellano? I don't know; you can never have too much pitching. "The team has also made sure to give him some tough assignments, the better to evaluate him against high-level competition." Here I don't agree with the Twins. I'd take it easier on Castellano, let him build up more confidence before he's thrown into the mop-up role & the MLB coaches to work with him. There I'd slowly ease him into higher leverage & see what he really has.
  19. They'll try very hard to trade Robert, eventually IMO they will. That'll look even worse on paper. They have a great core that's coming up at key positions. They may not make a great impact this season but they'll be a force to deal with very soon. I am especially envious of them going out & landing Edgar Quero from LAA & Kyle Teal from BOS after landing one of HOU's former top prospects, Kory Lee. They value catching & they could very soon become the league's top-catching core.
