  1. Cubs have a lot of intimidating hitters in their lineup, especially left-handed hitters. Sims did a great job of pitching 5 scoreless innings. Sims is still a young arm, I don't blame Rocco for pulling him 3rd time against their most menacing LH hitters for LHP Coulume in a close game. Buck is a great leadoff hitter. He likes to pounce on SPs before they get settled in. He's taking more walks & when he gets OB, he steals bases & distracts pitchers to make mistakes for hitters like Jeffers. 3 out 4 home games, so far, keep up the good work. Great pitching & hitting! Go Twins!
  2. Who's Amy Gravy? Is she a pitcher? I'd like to meet her.
  3. Simmy is young, but he's mature for his age, emotionally & in baseball smarts. He is constantly adjusting to the game to his credit, IMO, much better than Zebby & Festa.
  4. I wasn't happy about him participating, but if it makes him happy, he deserves that.
  5. My point wasn't that he was terrible in AAA. It was more than he could use more time to be more cemented in the process & having even more momentum going into MLB.
  6. I'm not a Jeffers hater as some may think. I'd love to re-sign Jeffers to a reasonable extension. But I have made some observations. #1 Boras is his agent & will leverage as much as he can out of the Twins where they can't afford him & #2 Jeffers is a weak-side tandem catcher: if we depend on him for primary catching role we'll be sorely disappointed. I advocated trading Jeffers for 2 promising young MLB-ready catchers for years when his stock was high & we had Vazquez to mentor them. Now, IMO, it's not a good time. Jeffers's stock is low. The middle of the season is never a good time to bring in a new catcher. If we trade Jeffers, we have only Vazquez as a viable MLB catcher. I've also tagged BOS & SD as in desperate need of catching. But so is MN (IMO, catching is the Twins' greatest need), next year we have only one weak-side catching tandem (Jeffers) & nobody else. That's very poor planning. If I were the FO, I'd know right now if I could resign Jeffers or not. Since he has not resigned yet, I question whether he can be. So, where Jeffers's trade value is now, I'd rather not trade him, but we might not have a choice. The right choice might be to trade Jeffers & get what we can & somehow find the catchers we need in the process. & again, I don't trust Falvey to be able to do that. So we are going to be in a very difficult situation at catching next year as I predicted years ago.
  7. Just a note. Noah Miller was promoted to AAA & have been predicted to reach the MLB next year. He has been evaluated to not only to have a MLB glove but also a golden glove caliber one now. He had a respectable bat at AA this year before being promoted.
  8. With a nickname like "Doktor" how can you go wrong? I'm ready for him to operate & dissect batters at the MLB level.
  9. I saw the highlights, Vazquez did a great job controlling a dangerous running game. Bader was awesome. Jax & Topa were not.
  10. I was hoping to hear something about Gillispie. He was with another team last year, started this season with a different team & had a promising start & now with us, all AAA INT. IMO. he is adjusting to another new team. IMO, the game was a bad experiment gone wrong. Miranda & Julien need time at 1B, but are instead given to Bride. Eeles at SS and Martin at DH. I like Noah Cardenas but I believed that Olivar had a leg up hitting. Olivar has the tools to be a good catcher, why hasn't he been developed to become one? His hitting has always been there.
  11. IMO, there was no rush to bring him up, the Twins were winning w/o him. I agree they should have left him in AAA and let him regain his timing and confidence.
  12. Last week was probably one of the toughest weeks of the season. DET has the best record in MLB, Both MIA & TB has been very hot & and I wish we had played both of them to start the season in warm Florida, when they were slumping. Yet we started the homestand on a positive note, almost sweeping a very good team that I hope can win the East. We really need Correa; there's something seriously wrong with him. He's too good to be this bad, Twins need to solve this problem ASAP instead of waiting around & hoping the problem goes away like with Ober.
  13. It's a shame that Buck wasn't selected outright. He has shown that he's a clear All-Star. IMO, the fans won't select the best players; they make it a big market beauty contest. Hopefully, Ryan & Duran can make it in.
  14. Twins winning 2 out of 3 & lost a very close, hard-fighting, extra-inning game against a very good team. Is nothing to be ashamed of. I don't blame the players for this loss.
  15. That's what I thought Palmsprings. Varland was a strong SP, he is one RP that I'd trust to go an extra inning. If it were Alcala, he'd be called to pitch another inning. I certainly wouldn't trust Topa for that very high leverage 10th.
  16. If I were Bosox fan, I'd love this trade. They are very weak at catching & pitching, but so are the Twins. Twins are very strong in MLB OF depth with 2 high prospects waiting in the wings. Twins should trade from this depth, not add(?). So as a Twins fan, it'd be absolutely no! Instead, look for a team(s) that are deeper in catching & or pitching. That'd be where I'd look. BOS isn't a good match; they are a competitor for these players.
  17. I never said that a bunt early in a game is a good strategy. There is a time for a bunt. Smart small ball isn't limited to bunting. It's stealing a base, taking an extra base, orchestrating a double steal, hit & run, clutch hitting (that can be HR) and it's not limited to offense; picking off & throwing behind runners are a part of small ball. It's doing the small things well. Swinging for the fences hasn't been doing it for us. If our DH can constantly hit HRs, I don't expect him to bunt. But he has my admiration if he can, when the time is applicable.
  18. Clemens's 3-run HR was clutch & was essential in coming back from a deficit but what won the game was Lee's bunt. If a pitcher gives you a nice home-run ball you take it. If Lee came up swinging for the fences, the game would have been lost because a TB pitcher in that situation will try very hard not to give you a nice pitch to hit.
  19. I haven't had much confidence in what we had in AAA pitching. Adams was worse than I expected. As I've said for a long time, we need an inning-eater SP. Pick one up & figure out long relief. Give credit to the young guys, Lewis, Clemens & Lewis for getting it done. During our winning streak, we were running & playing small ball. Shortly after Wallner came back & got gunned down at home after Watkins sent him, Twins went back on their old ways of doing things. If we want to keep on winning, we need to go back to small ball. If we don't have enough players to do that we need to bring in those who can.
  20. There's something seriously wrong with Correa, IMO it's not only mechanics. He's too good to be this bad. Twins have to get to the bottom of it. Hoping it just goes away won't cut it. Good pitching, good baserunning & clutch hitting, we needed it all to pull this one out. Bader was hot! TB has a good team, I'm rooting for them to win the East. Twins have a better roster, but the Rays know how to play ball. That's why they are 48-40 & the Twins are 42-46.
  21. Thanks Cody. My 1st objective is to try to resign Castro because he's valuable. I like to be proactive & look for our needs if someone needs Castro, great, work out a trade; injunction with another player if need be. I don't like the idea of trading Castro just for a bunch of lotto tickets. Teams like LAD value someone like Castro, IMO NYY isn't one.
  22. "For me, there isn't anyone I'd trade Byron for." It's very clear that you & others don't want to understand what I text. 1st, It's my sentiments. Is it subjective? Yes it is. Why? Because Buxton was screwed over by the Twins, yet he was determined to stay with the Twins. The hurdle against it was that he wanted a no-trade clause & FO did not. Most players would be hurt & wouldn't want to stay. Most players can't wait to enter FA & max out their money. Most top players would like to leave a less popular team to a high profile team that would promote him & increase his chances to win a WS, become an all-star, MVP & HoF. Buxton's action of signing a very owner-friendly-no-trade extension, shows his forgiving, selfless character & commitment to the Twins. In a sense, Buxton whole-heartedly married himself to the Twins. As a Twins fan, how can I entertain any thoughts of divorcing a such a player like Buxton for another? Is this the way I want to reward his devotion to the team?
  23. For me, there isn't anyone I'd trade Byron for, especially from PHI. Yes, we need a promising young MLB-ready catcher. Ferrebus isn't the guy. So let's just drop this nonsense. It's just social media BS.
