Zebby is doing well, starting his rehab. Draft: My picks 1st round who rose to where Twins would pick before the draft, Bremner & Hall. Went surprisingly, #2 & #9 respectfully. I would have picked Cunningham instead of Houston, IMO, Cunningham has more upside as a SS prep, but I'm OK with Houston, who, as a college SS, is more polished. My 1st choice at compensation was Bodine (C), a fast riser who went well earlier than Twins' selection. My 2nd choice was Stevenson (C), who I was hoping he'd dropped to the Twins. But SEA picked him just before the Twins. I tuned out after that.

Dear Falvey, You Can't Trade Away Joe Ryan
Doctor Gast replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
W/o Lopez, Ober & Matthews combined with nobody in AAA, our rotation is very thin. Ryan is our only anchor, how can we think about trading him? Ryan is very involved in the offseason to get outside input, he'll continue to grow, IMO, it's not a good time to sell if ever. We should be looking at adding not subtracting. IMO, we should have picked up Kyle Gibson. Shortly after he became a FA. That'd shored up the rotation.- 41 replies

IMO, Saints need a lot of runs to win their games because their pitching & defense overall have been disappointing.

A lot of offense today led by the Buck Truck! MVP! Twins have had trouble against the BP game & attempts to incorporate it. But today, Sands started us off well in a rare BP game. Hope they have figured it out & use more long relief. Adams didn't look that great but got it done in probably his 1st MLB win. Congrats.

I miss the box scores & more gameplay on each team. Martin is a spark plug & could help the Twins, bring him up.

Martin is healthy & is doing well in AAA. Everybody knows a hitter, especially a raw rookie, needs regular ABs. Kiersey hasn't been getting any. Kiersey's hitting development has been ret**ded this year, he needs regular ABs in AAA. Martin can provide what Kiersey can, yet Martin has had the regular ABs. After Kiersey gets his regular ABs, he'd be ready to start his MLB hitting adjustment again on a better footing.

Again, good pitching, good defense & clutch hitting against the best SP in baseball now. Skubal also lost, so everything is good.- 36 replies

Pirates (Skenes) vs. Twins (Ryan) 7/11 7:10 PM CT

Ryan got out of the 1st inning but tallied 34 pitches, hope the BP is on -
Jeffers got his foundation from Tanner Swanson who has been long gone from the Twins coaching staff, I haven't heard or seen anything good coming from Conger & Co. They thought they could do something with Carmargo & Cartaya, How has that turned out? Just throwing Gasper behind the plate & hope something miraculous happens won't do it. IMO, Irish arm & a slow runner are the least of his problems, you also need to move around well behind the plate, soft hands & the ability to handle pitchers which he hasn't proved to me yet. Their is a chance that Tanner Swanson could do something with him but again he's not here & are there many coaches out there that are capable & willing to put in the work? yet the biggest question is, is he willing to put in the work? He might just want to forget about catching & focus on hitting while playing the OF. I think he's listed as a catcher mainly to help out his ranking.

Jeffers works very hard on both his bat & glove, IMO, he's one of the better hitting catchers; he has a good feel at the plate. "I was one of the best hitters in baseball for a month and a half, two months last year, and then I was really bad for a couple of months. I’m trying to even that out, and we’ve done that." What I've observed with Jeffers, is his stamina. IMO, his drop off isn't due to his mechanics but more his stamina. When gets worn down his production falls off starting with his defense. So when he said "we've done that", we can't find out if that is a fact until the season wears down if he can maintain his stamina.

Totally agree, IF Jax had been prepared in spring training, & maybe used in long relief & some spot starts; he could have stepped up when Lopez went down. But arguably, he wasn't, so he wouldn't be available. I wasn't against him preparing for a SP role last spring training & I still wouldn't be next spring season to have more options, whether we trade off any SP (which I'm not for) or not.

It makes me sad to see Twins players with potential mismanaged. It should be the goal of the Twins to develop their own players to their full potential at their best position. If someone in the organization comes up & overtakes another player, fine, trade him, at least we gain something & that player can find success somewhere else. Instead of being cast off. There's a long list of players who have shown promise at the MLB level but have been mismanaged. We are plenty deep at 3B, but the last 2 years, Miranda was our top candidate at 1B. When healthy, Miranda has been hitting very well. But Baldelli has bypassed him every year. Stating he doesn't have experience there. 1B can be learned & quite often player w/ no experience has been thrown in there. Miranda, if given the experience, could grade out very well at 1B. But the Twins go out of their way not to give Miranda experience there! It's obvious that Miranda isn't happy, if not motivated, how can we expect him to do anything?

Great job, Seth. I'm really happy with Raya & Ohl's performances. We really need someone who can come up to help support our rotation & BP in long relief. IMO, we have a great pitching core, but fragile. When Lopez went down, it threw our rotation into a tizzy. For us to get to the postseason, we need to have better depth & long relief to keep the rotation & BP fresh & healthy. Something the Twins continually fail at.

You can't have too much pitching. When Lopez our anchor went down, it would have been nice if Jax could have stepped in & picked up the slack. We have been floundering in the rotation except for Ryan & now SWR & Festa has started to pitch well again. But I'm not in favor of selling off our players, it's very complicated.

It seems to me that a game can go either way very quickly. Buck has been our main man, so w/o him to give us that quick spark, to get that running game going, everything was flat & went out of control. We need Correa and Lewis to step up to lead this team against PIT to finish strong before the ASG.

1st, I don't trust Falvey to maximize the return we'd need to get in a trade & don't trust him to fill the needs that we have. The only team that I'd consider is LAD, having Rushing to headline that package, but again IMO LAD's FO would have the upperhand in a trade even if they were more desperate for a trade. I can't conceive us trading away Ryan if we were selling the team. The only way I see it is if the Pohlads aren't selling or if Falvey has weasled himself into the new ownership. After Falvey has blamed the coaches especially the hitting coaches & injuries; the only other ones to blame is the core (heaven forbid that he's to fault). Then he'd sell off Ryan & the rest of the core.

3 of our 4 runs came from baserunning, which has been a taboo in the past. Buck should always have a green light to steal, he did & again set up the 1st run & tempo for the game. The next 2 almost gave me a heart attack. 1st, Tucker lost the ball going for a deep fly, Watkin sent Jeffers, which ended up to be a very close play. Wallner played it perfectly on a double steal & SEA fell for it. Many good catchers would fake a throw to 2B & try to catch the runner off 3B. I personally wouldn't have risked Lewis into a situation that could have produced another pulled hamstring. Maybe with the hot weather, Lewis's threat of pulled hamstring is behind him. Correa's stats away are abysmal, but at home they are quite good. Beating the Cubbies have sparked some hope. I don't believe in baseball gods. Just saying.

Rushing to the Dodgers for a Catcher
Doctor Gast replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes we really need a catcher & Rushing probably is close to the top of my list, together with Keel & O Quero (CWS) & followed close behind J Quero(MIL). If LAD takes Duran straight up, I'll bite, but IMO they'll want more. I really wanted Feducci over Cartaya for a little bit more. We could still do a deal with them.- 10 replies

Jeffers & Garver gave a lot of credit to Tanner Swanson for their development but he's long gone. I haven't heard or seen anything good concerning Conger & Co. Raleigh didn't grade out that well in offense or defense (he had a below-average arm), but SEA saw something they liked & was able in time develop him into a premier catcher.
-
MIL might be interested in a Stewart/ Dinges trade. Dinges has a really nice bat. But he's very raw at catching. MIL can develop him into a catcher, MN can't. What good is it to trade for prospects when we can't develop them & won't trade them? It wouldn't be fair to Dinges. We need a young, promising MLB-ready catcher yesterday not hoping for another prospect to miraculously become a catcher sometime in the future. MIL does have a young, promising MLB-ready catcher in Jefferson Quero. Offering Duran could land him but I wouldn't hold my breath.
