  1. Nice to have you back, you did an excellent job. I wouldn't doubt that Preilip would start out in the BP but hope eventually make it into the rotation. Happy that we signed who we've sign already
  2. I'm not really interested in anyone that BOS has. I wouldn't waste my time w/ them
  3. I respect your opinion, Nick but I'm in the other boat. We have the opportunity of having Correa for this season we have to go for it all. We have a great core (with the best CF & SS) we just need to fill our holes, ATL was in a worse position than us last season and won it all. You just have to have some faith. Bard would be a good cheap choice and Mahle would not be that expensive. We also need an upgrade at catcher not only for this year but for the future, We have redundant players that could be traded that wouldn't effect our future that much if any. And would relieve the coming 40 man crunch. The catchers that you mentioned don't really move the needle for me. I wouldn't want another SD reject. I'm not too certain about Marcus Stroman but if you want a cheap option a Contreras/ Robertson/ Stroman trade the Cubs could probably go for and they might even go with Sano. Or go with just Contreras/ Robertson, there we take care of our main need (complimentary closer) and an upgrade at catcher (we could try to extend him)
  4. Thanks Cody I agree with the list but as dman said technically Buxton has a no-trade clause. Which is great because he shouldn't be traded.
  5. Very good assumption. I don't think his mild shoulder problem is anything to worry about.
  6. I heard a few more teams are interested in trading their front line SPing, which is a good thing because of the increase competion . Biggest surprise is CLE, they're still in contention. I've been an advocate for Lopez we could also through in Bass, MIA should be interested in Larnach or Kepler with some pitching prospects. I'd be interested in a Contreras/ Robertson/ maybe Stroman trade, it shouldn't be hard to come up a trade with Cubs. Hoping HOU would go after Murphy (OAK). I wouldn't be interested in another SD reject. I don't see them DFA Sano unless they are really strapped in 40 man. It'll be a very exciting or disappointing week.
  7. Buxton had trouble hitting when he 1st came up. They kept on telling him how to hit and he couldn't get it right until he threw everything out the window and went with what felt right. For some they can be over analytical, they need to keep it simple. Baez said he likes to watch videos but last year he felt the need not to.
  8. A lot of our line-up don't really get going until the 2nd half. Trade deadline will determine who fills their holes the best will come out on top. CWS has a much worse farm than we do. If we do better than CWS at filling our holes, we'll win it. Right now our pitching is rested and is doing well I predict they'll pitch like gangbusters. Until Baldelli's over-reliance on short relief will wear them thin again and then over extend the rotation, then they'll run out gas and end up on the IL. But if they transfer that stress off the short relief and SPs onto a long relief corp, together with filling our hole adequetly we'll win our division and advance in the post season. If these problems aren't addressed properly, we won't even go to the dance. We have a great core if address these problems properly, everyone will be rested feeling great, I see our team catch on fire, everyone would feed off each other and we go all the way. They just need the fuel and the spark.
  9. So fans want to trade Correa so they can get more flyers. Then we can horde these prospects and when "rule 5" comes around we lose them to the draft. Trading Correa doesn't make sense in any way you look at it.
  10. I'd love both Montas & Murphy (an upgrade from Jeffers) but the price tag would be very high and OAK will try to squeeze everything they can for them.
  11. Bard is my 1st choice. But delusional CO think they're still a good competing team and want to extend Bard. My hope is they wake up and make Bard & Marquez both available
  12. We have some holes that need to be filled so we need to be very active in trades. Hording prospects is a losing proposition. All these prospect would probably be taken in the Rule 5 draft. I hate to lose undeveloped prospects for nothing. So it'd be a good idea to include some of these prospects in trades. IMO SWR could be valuable to the Twins so I'd like to keep him but if a trade that would be too good to pass up, I'd hesitantly do it.
  13. It didn't surprize me that they activated Sano. I heard that he was trying to level out swing and that's encouraging, I wouldn't be surprize that Sano would go on a tear for the rest of the season. He has to be super motivated to preform or he is out the door. Even so IMO they won't take up his contract.
  14. I think what could be misconceiving is not only the Twins lose close games by not bringing RISP with key hits & small ball. They also score a ton of runs when they don't need them.
  15. Thanks Nick, always enjoy your articles. KC has a very good BP as does DET but I don't see it worth it to pursue trading with them inter-divisional. The rest of the group I'm not interested to pursue. I think there are better RPs out there. But if everything falls apart and KC or DET are the only ladies available, I'd dance with them.
  16. Catching is a big need especially now that Jeffers is down for most of the season and IMO we could use an upgrade from Jeffers. I expect that OAK would want a ridiculous amount if they are going let Murphy go. I believe it would be much easier to deal with the Cubs. So I'd like a Contreras, Robertson and possible Stroman deal. Although I'd like a proven this year production front line SP, If we can't land Montas, Castillio or Mahle and Stroman trend is up I'd really consider him. The others are a no vote.
  17. Detroit & MN look like 2 different teams from the last time they played. DET looked really terrible.
  18. Nice to see all our pitchers rested up and pitching well, together with a fired up line-up. It'd nice if they stay rested up through the season and thru out the post season.
  19. Tony Oliva has always been and will always be my favorite baseball player. Would have loved to be there to partake in the "Magic" of that moment.
  20. Like I've said the last few years. CO is delusional. Arenardo wanted to leave there in 2020 because there was no path to winning. Yet their FO still think they can still win.
  21. Bard is the top of my list for closers. My hope is that CO makes Marquez available. They should because they've lost their main core and there is no hope for them in NL West. Marquez is a frontline pitcher with a poor year. A change of scenery would do wonders for Marquez, getting out of Coors and having a decent defense behind him. CO would get better prospects and get a high draft pick. In hope to a future winning team, the way they are running their team there's no hope.
  22. We have to consider our roster crunch this coming winter. More of our motive to trade off our redundant players to make room for roster this winter. Like us having a lot of great prospect bats, MIA has weakness there. MIA has a ton of great arms and can't find a place for all of them and we can always use extra potential prospect arm. PS- I don't think that MIA's BP is that bad,
  23. I don't think there's really a great way to measure defense. There are so many variables that are so hard to register, like range if you have a statcast stat it may help. Yet there so much more variables to consider. An acumalitive stat that is helpful on the amount of time a player is blessed to be on the field isn't a good indicator on how good a player is defensively. IMO our defense has vastly improved, especially the critical position of CF & SS that has kept us in many games.
  24. 2017 is an excellent example of not giving up on a team that has a chance to progress in the post season. 2021 Braves was in about same position as the 2017 Twins and they added key players to fill their holes and they became the 2021 WS champs. In life we need to learn from mistakes, we have a very good team with a very bad and over relied BP and an overextended rotation because long relief is nonexistant. If we fill our holes, totally change our mindset about long relief and get hot we can compete with any team. We have a few redundant players that can be used in any trade we need. Hording players will never take us anywhere. If we don't make a legit move this year we'll never do it.
  25. I hope this FO has learned from 2017. After trading for Garcia, the Twins dipped which spooked the FO and went on a selling spree and we still made the playoffs.
