  1. If the data isn’t accurate or useful, it’s as valuable as no data.
  2. So, were the Twins just not patient enough, or did these prospects flourish after they got out of Minnesota and into a different system?
  3. Is he a legitimate “Superstar “? No. Is he paid like one? Yes.
  4. Absolutely disagree. The way this team practices analytics is completely absolute to the point of insanity (Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result). It doesn’t allow for slumps (or simple decline) and it doesn’t allow for the hot hand. All this platooning doesn’t allow for players to improve their weak side or keeps the best players on the bench due to a pitching change that only lasted 3 batters. The analytics themselves might not be absolute (Given how inconsistent they are, I tend to agree) but the decisions made using their “insight” are absolute as practiced by this organization.
  5. Disagree. Analytics are not the same. Gut feelings are wholly dependent upon whose gut we’re talking about. Analytics are supposedly absolute. (At least they are on this team). If they don’t produce the desired results, they are still “correct”. It’s just chalked up to “bad luck” or an “aberration”. Why are the “expected” numbers almost always much more optimistic than actual results? Maybe the data is wrong or incomplete or not being interpreted correctly? Since we have several different groups producing and interpreting raw data with different methods, maybe it’s just too early to rely on this questionable data? I know what is absolutely reliable and can be counted upon without question: ACTUAL results. Not guesspected results. What are they producing right now and in the immediate past? Not, they “MASHED” lefties 5 years ago, but what have they done lately? Analytics as practiced by this organization do not allow for ANY flexibility that goes against the spreadsheet, and it shows.
  6. They are awful like most of the City Connect nonsense. That’s a loon??? Why does it look like a walrus from an unflattering angle???
  7. Despite all the hype on here how all our young guys RAKE!!!!, they sure seem to be league average or worse. It may be time to consider if Kirilloff, Larnach, Wallner, Julien etc have a future with this or any MLB club.
  8. The Twins never would have given Wade enough AB’s to develop like he has elsewhere.
  9. Correa is on pace for around 10 HR’s and 40 Rbi’s. Sure it’s great to have an elite (ish) defender at SS. One of the best defenders we’ve had at SS since…probably Gagne. Worth $33M? Not so sure, but I guess it’s not relevant, as that contract is already signed. Glad to see him in the lineup and relatively healthy.
  10. With the state of our bullpen, do you really think they would send down a pitcher with a zero era? That happened in the real world. The one I and the Twins pitchers live in. What are they supposed to think??
  11. “Ultimately, Duran throws the pitch - I simply do not believe that the Twins will tell their best relief pitcher that he needs to throw the pitch the pitching coach/catcher call 'or else.' Or else what? I still think this is on Duran.“ Really? After Duran has seen the way Alcalá has been treated? Why would he think anything other than “or else”?
  12. Dude’s a professional pitcher. I’m pretty sure he knows how the process works! His comment suggests that he does not have the option to “shake off” the catcher. Also, Vasquez is here for his defense. That suggests maybe HE didn’t have an option but to call the curve?
  13. From what I’ve seen, there is no “dog house”. If there were, there would be consequences for making the same mistakes over and over. How many Twins actually run out a ground ball?
  14. That seems like an extremely negligible difference. Given this new WunderMetric™️ is still in its infancy, we should take it with a grain of salt. I’m sure there are 84 other metric-based “reasons” for his decline. Or do the metrics just go down due to a slump? Tomatoes-Tomattos?
  15. “They scored 6 runs. The bullpen gave up 8 runs in 4 innings. The managing did not lose the game.” Who put the low leverage pitchers in the high leverage situation? It wasn’t the pitchers. Pretty sure the manager makes those decisions.
  16. High time for robo umps. If not, then next contract there has to be some built in accountability by MLB.
  17. It is maddening to watch this 100% analytics crap. It doesn’t take in consideration ACTUAL outcomes. It doesn’t consider recent performance. That is why you get a black hole pinch hitting for someone who has been red hot. But, but…black hole MASHED lefties five years ago! This is how you end up running crap players out there. Rocco lost at least half a dozen games last year on his own. Yesterday was at least one for this year.
  18. Blah, blah, blah. You ALWAYS score on that play. This isn’t Ethics 101; it’s baseball.
  19. This is the third year in a row that the Twin’s are plagued by injuries. When does “bad luck” become a trend?
  20. Based on the history of this FO, I would think August before they even consider sitting/releasing him.
  21. Yes. Obviously, the #1 problem is the increasingly inflexible analytics based philosophy that ties the hands of the coaches and manager. People on here have railed against batting average as a useless metric, yet instead they are relying on other metrics averaged over a player’s career to make decisions for today. That results in Kepler batting cleanup when he’s batting .050 and a player who is 3 for 4 today being lifted in a key situation because the cold guy on the bench got a bunch of hits off this pitcher 5 years ago. It simply isn’t sustainable.
  22. Looking at his entire career-we are getting Kepler. For the majority of his career, this is who he is. The months he “figures it out” are the outliers.
