  1. If Brock shows he is still a dominant reliever like before his injury, then we may not be as short on relievers as is written here. Duran Brock Jax Thielbar Pagan then we can choose 2 or 3 from Meada / Ober Sands Floro Winder Balazovich We would be in pretty good shape for the playoffs.
  2. Has there been any word on Brock? Also in the news former Twins reliever Stashak signed a minor league deal with the Giants.
  3. I’m fine with Gallo. He at least has an OPS over .750. I would prefer him to get his average up to the .220 range. I’m more surprised by a lack of movement for a bullpen arm.
  4. I hope his success continues. If he can be a 4.5 ERA pitcher the rest of the way, he is of value as a member of a 6 man rotation helping to keep innings down and arms fresh for the playoffs.
  5. I’m more interested in seeing who else joins the climb to become a top prospect. Whether or not they join the top 100 list.
  6. Having the I ter ational class of 2009 reach 500 HRs as Twins is a nice marketing opportunity for the Twins. As long as Kepler and Polanco are helping the Twins, they should be here. Though we do have nice hitting prospects on the way. …. We will see.
  7. I see them exercising the option. Lee will not likely start the season in the majors and when he is ready then we can trade Polanco. Also they will pick up Keplers option too. As of this morning the international class of 2009 for the Twins Sano, Kepler and Polanco have combined to hit 416 Homer’s and counting. Kepler is 12 away from catching Sano. Sano has 161, Kepler has 149 and Polanco 106.
  8. To hit and run you need hitters who make contact. We have too many strikeout artists on the team. Correa is likely one you could hit and run with. I agree they should do more stealing with a runner on first and Correa at bat. And lastly Brett Butler probably added 30 points to his batting average with over .400 batting average when bunting. I don’t think that is his career average but I remember that being his bunting average when he had over 30 bunt base hits.
  9. Henriguez needs more than 4 appearances to show he is ready. He could be a September call up if he keeps it up. He still needs to show consistency to get the call up.
  10. Jeffers isn’t playing more because we signed Velasquez to be the main C. He is getting paid 10 million to C for us. Jeffers should get more playing time. At least in my opinion. Clearly Jeffers has earned his way to 60% of the C duties and Velazquez needs more time on the bench. An occasional start at DH or 1B for either in is not a big deal. Though I hope we don’t play Velazquez too much at 1B or even again…..
  11. no We have plenty of 1B options. maybe for a game or 2 he can play 1B. But we should have plenty of other options. He can be a DH if we just want to get his bat in the lineup and extra few days.
  12. I would have Balazovich on the list somewhere. He is proving himself reliable in the pen now.
  13. I could see Dobnak replacing Keuchel in the current rotation either next start or start after it.
  14. If the option is Gallo or Lee. I think using September for them to compete and show who is the better player and better option for the playoffs at 1B is fine by me. I think Lee can handle that and get used to playing in the majors to be fully prepared for next season and see if he is ready to play for us in the playoffs.
  15. I’m totally fine with resigning Gray to a 3 year 70 million contract. I think he likes being competitive and close to Tennessee but probably hates the cold.
  16. He has been solid in AAA and starting to pitch like he deserves a promotion back up to replace Keuchel for a start or two before Ryan comes back. next season he can be a long man or 7th starter. If he cracks the top 5 good for him especially if we pile on more depth. That should mean he earns it.
  17. 1 WAR is worth 8-10 million so he justified his pay and nothing more at this point. He seems to have a little excess value if he finishes the season between 1.5-2.0 WAR. But nothing to exciting.
  18. 2024 Rotation: Lopez Ober Ryan Mead Paddack Varland Dobnak rehabbing Mahle whoever wants to be the 8th starter where does Keuchel fit in all of this?
  19. It’s cheaper to have a strong bench than it is to sign everyday players. We usually have a good bench because of this. Compare our bench to other teams and you will see we have a top 3 bench in the league if not the best. We would probably have a better pen if the Twins would sign some 3-6 million per season players like we do on our bench instead of only dumpster diving.
  20. 1B is one of the easiest positions to play. It’s where you put DHs when there is no opening at DH. Julien can play 1B and a better fielding Polanco can handle 2B. If it was spring training then by all means keep giving Julien reps and instruction at 2B. But we are in a playoff push and every advantage adds up. Polanco is a plus defender at 2B, while Julien needs work.
  21. No one has said this. They say he could be a passable starter. He clearly has downgraded stuff from his Cy Young days but he could be a serviceable 5th starter for a few starts and possibly a few more.
