  1. I will be disappointed if we don't get at least one good solid reliever. And I mean a good one. Giles, will Smith, I mean how much can they cost?
  2. I think your trade proposal of Larnach, Thorpe, and Gordon, plus Jeffers or another good prospect could get us Boyd from Detroit.
  3. I would feel better if the Twins acquired the Reliever first before letting both Morin and Magill go. Let one go fine but both? Now you are at more of a disadvantage as your bullpen is weaker then before so the need and therefore a cost for a reliever is higher. Also I am guessing Morin was let go because it looks as if Littel is beginning to establish himself. Littel is one of the trades of the front office and therefore they are more invested in him then Morin a minor league signing. As far as Magill, I dunno I guess he is replaceable with Stewart. Maybe the Twins feel Magill just isn't going to be any better but there are several prospects ready for the chance before they wheel and deal.
  4. My expectations for Astudillo has always been a .260 - .280 hitter with average power. He hits enough to be a bench player but not enough to be a starter. His time in the majors won't be long either. 4-5 seasons maybe with 1200 or so plate appearances is my over under for his career. It would be cool if Arreaz was the next Tony Gwynn....
  5. Didn't the Two s sign a reliever or 2 recently like Krill or somone else that could get a **** too?
  6. Also I would be surprised if we didn't resign Gibson to a 3 year 48-51 million contract. If there is a team with enough money available to sign one of our free agent pitchers it's gonna be us. The big question is which one and how much?
  7. Little seems to found a home in the pen. Keep an eye on him as he is likely one of our mid relievers moving forward.
  8. Man that 2012 draft was good for us. Buxton, Berries, Rogers and Duffey. That's basically 3 allstars and a nice multi-year filler/ possible solid reliever.
  9. For this season they will stick with Schoop at 2nd unless he basically gives up. Arreaz will get more time as long as he keeps hitting but Schoop will remain the starter. He is paid to be a starter. Now with the way Arreaz is hitting he may push Schoop once or twice a week into the bench. But Arreaz will get his other at bats moving around the diamond and he will also spend some time on the bench as well.
  10. Also consider the Twins will have a huge 40 man roster crunch after the season. I would be looking to trade several of the fringe players who should/ could be added over the higher ranked prospects. We only need 1 or 2 relievers and maybe a starter. So it's not like we have to make lots of trades. Just one or two. They could trade several guys clearing the 40 man so we don't loose much in the rule 5 draft next off-season.
  11. A counter thought. I probably wouldn't be in a huge rush to trade Gordon just yet. We have Arreaz in 1rst place to replace Schoop. But after Arreaz we have Gordon and then Blankenship. We may also want to let that utility guy (I forgot his name) go as he goes over a 2 million salary next year. But if we get some great talent back then no one is off limits. Just thinking of how Gordon could be a minimum wage benefit to us next year.
  12. Also note we will have an opening at 2B so having Gordon to compete with Arreaz makes sense.
  13. Gorden and Rooker for both Madbum and Smith and some cash seem about right. Probably a little high honestly. Both those players should be big Leaguers. And 6 years of low cost production from both is alot to give for Half a season from 2 players. I would rather send more to Toronto for Giles and their starter. But we do have lots of prospects to choose from. Maybe instead of Gordon we could trade Gonsalves....
  14. Right now there are only a few teams clearly in buy or sell mode. With the uncertainty of how the market will play out and there is time and more buyers the cost to acquire tends to be higher. As more teams fall out and become sellers then the market will normalize. The other factor is those who are going for the wildcard may only be marginal buyers and not want to move their prospects or they could be out of it but close enough to not want to sell. Lastly this is the first year of the full cut off being July 31. So we will see if the market heats up a few days earlier to ensure sellers take advantage of their short term assets. Will be fun to watch. Hope we get some good stuff.
  15. Didn't we sign him after the OF we wanted to call up retired instead.
  16. Well I don't expect us to trade for David Price and his 30 million per year contract. Though I bet we wouldn't have to trade much to get him.....but I see the Twins doing what is needed to get done to get us players. Rooker is a great trade chip as is Gordon and Larnarch. We will not have a place for these guys for a few years with others coming up.
  17. Someone more in the know should do a similar article with the development of Cody as a writer from a blogger to All Star Writer here at Twins Daily. Would be a good way to show others a development path too
  18. I just wanted to say this is a real good post. Jeurys Famillia, Kelvin Herrera, and Soria were the ones I was most interested in signing if I remember correctly. Not including Ottavio because we new we had no chance there. I wasn't too concerned with the pen cause I thought Romero, Mejia, Hildenburger and that FA pitcher we released that cost 8.5 million would be good.
  19. One thing that could also be affecting the team is all the minor Nick's requiring 10 day IL stints. Let's see Buxton, Rosario, Cron on offense after Cruz, Garver, and Sano... Didn't Pineda go for a spell, and Odorizzi. No one really in the pen accept Mejia and they are doing well.....
  20. Today would have been a perfect day to let Thorpe make his MLB debut in the 9th inning. Also it's good that Kepler set his career high in HRs before the All Star break. You don't want to have that last one hanging over your head as something you didn't get done before a mini vacation.
  21. Duffey has given up more unearned runs than earned runs. 5 earned and 7 unearned = 12 total.
  22. That's not fun with numbers...
  23. I agree with Brock. The bullpen really needs another high quality arm.
  24. If Pineda throws around 130-140 innings of 4.50 ERA we break even on his contract. I don't think he should be much over 150 for the year tops. He will probably have another IL stint and maybe some time in the pen to help limit his innings. I don't think the Twins need to go out and add a starter as we have plenty of fill one during his IL times.
