  1. I'm kinda bummed cause of how this week was played out bit were looking for a reliever or 2 and a backup OF. I noticed TR is focused on a bridge gap type of reliever on a short term commitment as I think he is planning on our younger relievers comming up in short order. That is why I think he avoided the long term contracts cause we can obviously afford one. Vs it's frustrating cause we can obviously afford a reliever contract and didn't get obligated on one and block the reliever comming up.
  2. Craig Stemmons looks like the buy low candidate opportunity we should jump on.
  3. Our bullpen is not that bad. It was almost fixed Las t season on the fly. Cotts and Rodney would do the trick cause they won't block anyone comming up. We still have Jepsen, Perkins, Fien, and likely May. that's a good enough bullpen IMO.
  4. I'd be happy if the Twins sign a reliever and back up OF.
  5. I think it makes sense to keep Plouffe until 1. Park shows he can hit in MLB and 2. Mauer returns to form. You can never have too much offense.
  6. How so you know if they tried to trade deunsing. They were trying to upgrade the pen last year. No one was graduatin to the majors and Fien is better.
  7. Keep in mind this is a 1 year contract if the young guys bump him from the pen. Easy to move in a trade.
  8. If he is the 2nd reliever that is not on Fien. That would be on TR for not upgrading the pen. His value is a middle reliever who is ultimately worth 3 to 4 million on the open market IMO. Fiend production is solid so he is easily worth th investment.
  9. I think Sano in the OF is until we can move Mauer to the bench the last year or two of his contract if he doesn't produce closer to .300/.380/.400.
  10. Fien has value and we can trade him when the better arms are ready and warrant a trade. We're not there yet.
  11. Park should have tried to negotiate incentives into that deal. I would be fine with 2 or 3 million in incentives per season.
  12. 2 million is not too much for fien. 3.5 to 4 million is where I cut the cord with him.
  13. If healthy would AJ Griffin who was just released by the A's make a good lefty reliever. ..
  14. I was thinking of waiting a year to let Mauer go to the bench as opposed to loosing Plouffe.
  15. The formula you say the Royals have for winning is the same one Terry Ryan deployed in the early 2000s. Bullpen, defense, contact hitting.
  16. Guys I'm pretty sure you can trade a rule 5 pick after the rule 5 draft....isn't that how we got Johan Santana and 50,000 for Camp....
  17. As far as Sano in the OF. He can handle a season or 2 to see if Mauer can regain his stroke then move to 1B full-time and sign Plouffe to an extention.

  19. Mike, what Boston paid was crazy. Also there is a difference in what can be accepted for trade but what I meant was a starting pitcher prospect and a strong relief pitcher prospect. and a third if it helps you balance the trade. Change the names around a bit. But there are other relievers to consider.
  20. I think the starting pitching is fine. I would like to get a dominant reliever however. I like the idea of trading a few prospects for Chapman ....Rogers and Zach Jones or something along those lines. We get a dominant reliever. And a draft pick when he leaves to replace the prospects traded but don't have to be on roster for several years.
  21. Santana at SS and Vargas implosion were also on the list right....
  22. If we could package him with say Nolasco and another prospect maybe Zack Jones to SD for Norris and Benoit. ..I think the hardest part of this trade is the last year on Nolasco contract otherwise it could work.
  23. I'm a little bummed. I think Torii had a legitimate hall of fame shot with 1500 RBI. He's 110 or so away. And yes that's along way off but I think he had a chance with 2 more seasons with 800 or so at bats.
  24. I don't look at the pay as much as the results. If he can hit .290 with .350 obp then he should hit 2nd am he can be maximized. There will be better players but we can live with that especially since we have a shortage of on base guys. Problem is he didn't hit with bases empty...will that normalize going forward....I don't expect Mauer to be a superstar. But we need better than .260 with 10 hr moving forward.
