  1. Does this mean we get to acquire a starting pitcher now to help bolster the staff?
  2. The Twins should have Gimenez be the starting pitcher then play all the defensive positions then put him back on the mound to close out his game.
  3. Belisle has been great in 25 of 29 appearances. Not good but not as bad as others with an era over 7. I think he gave up 15 runs in 2 innings over those 4 appearances. And 4 runs in the other 25. Lets fix the other holes before we do anything with Belisle. Breslow reminds me of Guerriers last season. He had a good era until he couldnt get anyone out anymore and was done. Though i think Breslow has a little more left in the tank still.
  4. And yes i am adding international signings to draft choices in above comment.
  5. If only Gibson was pitching like he did 2 years ago the class of 2009 Dozier, Gibson, Sano, Kepler, and Polanco would make a good group to go against 2012 class with Buxton, Berrios, Duffey, Rogers, Chargois and more to come....
  6. They could trade Polanco and keep Dozier or move Dozier to first. Also Dozier gets 6 million this season and 9 million in 2018. I doubt they trade Escobar. Though he is a tradeable piece. Unless the Twins fall to 7 or more games back I doubt they become sellers.
  7. Also Gee is the most likely of the retreads we've been signing that could consistantly go 6 innings with 3 earned runs ... though i am still intrigued by Turley and wonder if he can make adjustments up here with snother start or is he a AAAA pitcher...
  8. What about Sledgers? Is he close yo earning a callup from AAA?
  9. Aaron Sledgers is a solid back of rotation prospect doing well at AAA too. He should get an opportunity. Also i think Turley can turn into something useful. He needs better command though. He is either middle of the plate or outside the strikezone by a fair margin. Jitters could be part of the issue. I think one moe start to see if he can right the ship before he goes back down is fair at this point.
  10. Jeremy, when you update this page you shoul move it to that days articles. This one is a ways down now.
  11. I think there is a happy medium between doing nothing and going all in. A good reliever is not going to cost alot in terms of prospects. And we could look for a starter who won't as well...a back of rotation type. By not doing anything we are seeing a self fullfilling prophecy. We loose and there is a group that says see we suck and should wait a few more years. But if we already aquired a reliever a few weeks ago we have a deeper pen and maybe fewer meltdowns and the pyhtagorean is for 80 wins and we are still in first. We know we have a shortage in pitching. Doing nothing guarentees us falling in the standings.
  12. Its a good thing we are not doing anything to improve the pitching staff. We might win more games if we do and stay in contention if we did.
  13. Does anyone know how many innings Romero is going to pitch this year? He isn't far from the 90 he threw last year.
  14. This was supposed to be an opportunity to improve our pitching depth. Even with extra money for next pick we cant do as good as taking best pitcher available. Highly disappointing. But we do have a track record with toolsy OF...i mean SS for now...still very disappointing
  15. Mauer was better than the consesus number 1 talent in that draft...
  16. Time for Belisle to go. I hate to say it. I wanted to see him get his era down to the high 4s but i don't see that as a possibility anymore. Not worth a spot at his production level. Though we could swing a trade and restart the Neshek era again.

    Mauers New Contract

I would offer a 2 year 16 to 20 million. Based on obp. That is hos key stat. We need more .360 + obp in the lineup. Add incentives for plate appearance for another 1 to 3 million per season depending on base salary. He will be 36. I suppose a 3 year offer can go on the table.
  18. Its a short term fix till someone is healthy, ready to be promoted or till we decide if we should trade fir someone.
  19. We identified the bullpen as needing upgrades. If they went and traded for a reliver a few weeks ago we could be a game or 2 or possibly 3 better, since there were several bullpen meltdowns. So lets go get a reliver and see if we need to get another starter soon.
  20. Santiago has really struggled since comming out of the pen and getting the loss a few weeks ago
  21. The return would need to be big, like near Sale kind of return. I mean we are in contention still right? Santana would still be a good value for us next year too. We would definately need a starting pitcher prospect in the package.
  22. and Thorpe seems to be getting back on track as well. I am also going on record as saying Sledgers is a capable back of rotation guy.
