  1. Did you ask him what is important to him in his next contract? And how much would it take to get a deal done?
  2. But i hope he stays as he could finish his next contract 2nd all time in Twins HRs.
  3. Next offseason the Angels will let Kinsler walk and have an opening at 2B. They will be able to compete for him in free agency and the Angels have a history of getting Twins in FA. Carew, Blylevin, Revere, Hunter, mudcat Grant, and more....
  4. You also have to take into account all of the negative WAR they are replacing. I dont know how much that is but league average pitching over what we got from starters 8-16 last year brings us up alot. Getting Lynn probably makes us a top 10-12 out of 30.
  5. Grossman OBP + Vargas power = Logan Morrison. With him and Aybar and Granite in camp both Grossman and Vargas have to be on the lookout. Especially Vargas since he has no positional flexibility.
  6. Sano is also already top 50 in franchise homeruns hit as well.
  7. With Buxton as our CF, Lewis could slide to LF and then nothin but rain drops falling in the OF will really hold true.
  8. I would like to see the FO sign some extentions. Buxton, Dozier, Berrios, Polanco, Escobar, maybe Sano at the all star break if he can show he is healthy, mashing, and has gropegate behind him.
  9. I think they are done with the pitching staff. It would be awesome if Cobb or Lynn fell into our lap with a 2 or 3 year 12 million per season contract though. Or even a 1 year....
  10. Well Odorizzi is moving out of the east division and into the central. That alo e will improve his FIP and x FIP. Then there is the Buxton factor as well. Odorizzi chews up innings so solid move. I forgive the front office a little for the Darvish bull**** but not entirely yet.
  11. I'd trade Kepler for Archer in a heartbeat. And I'm a big Kepler fan.
  12. The Twins could have frontloaded the contract a little. Say 25 million the first 2 years and year 3 and 4 at 21 and 5 at 18 with 6 at 16. With opt out after 2 years. If he opts out, he was worth 25 million. We get a draft pick with QO and someone else gets risk of decline years. This is most likely scenario. He doesn't opt out, he won't be as big a drag the end years because we front loaded the contract. How much spread is there between Darvish opting out and not opting out that we risk losing? I thought this FO was statistically inclined to optimal options. Also how are we afraid to go 6 years and be afraid he may be good for 6 years so we won't include an opt out?
  13. If darvish opts out in 2 years there will be a QO attached to him. He didnt have that this time around. So the Cubs dont loose if he does. They just wont have to pay for the decline years.... genius. And yes the Twins could have beat those numbers and thought they could get a deal. Instead its the Cubs. And there are 2 parts that make this upsetting. 1. We heard all winter how he was their top priority. Then to find the Team was too cheap to be under expected market contract by 20 percent. 2. Darvish still signed a way below market value contract. Based on comps should have been closer to 160 million. And Darvish was the best option by far at our most critical need during our contention window. And we were still to cheap to step up.
  14. When i go here. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/11/2017-18-top-50-mlb-free-agents-with-predictions.html These guys do a great job of determing likely salary based off of comps. Darvish signed for 34 million less then projected. Minnesota would know this should be close to what he should get and they said they were in it for Darvish. Obviously their offer was even lower and they didnt budge as im sure Darvish made a last lap before agreeing with the Cubs.
  15. They offered a contract they new would be beat. Thus no real effort.
  16. Because i can see what he did sign for and we could and should have easily offered that to Darvish and didnt. Meaning he was low balled and Yu took the first market rate offer he was given. Spineless to feed us BS all offseason and to lowball the offer and say...we tried.....we didnt even offer near expected market value that others were saying he should get. If course were not going to sign him and we have a spineless front office for it. If they came out and said we are offing Darvish a 6 year contract and Darvish waited for a club to match...fine Darvish didnt want to be here. But that wasnt the case. He wanted a sixth year and we all new he would ask and eventually get. And our front office new it and kept telling us a line if bull that we are all in on Darvish. SPINELESS. Ps. I dont enjoy being lied to. As a fan it makes me distrust. The front office. My distrust just jumped a lot today.
  17. What i mean is the line up is more LH and could use more RH in the lineuo to balance out against LHP. We didnt do as well against LHP last year. Napoli would be a RH that helps balance out the lineup.
  18. Spineless for the Twins to say they were in on Darvish and come up with nothing. I prefer Ryan telling us they are trying to do something but be more vague about it.
  19. I never want to hear the Twins say they are in on a player in free agency until after they sign them cause they are full of crap till they do. They will never go for it. I was giving Lavine and Falvey rhe benefit of the doubt but today we can see they are Ryan 2.0 with some stats but no spine.
  20. If the Twins sign Napoli, it's because he is a right handed Vargas in a left-handed leaning line up. And Napoli brings more balance to it. And that is worth several million more at the same time. I'm sure veteranness factors into monetary and signing value too. Vargas has the power and build to be a monster but doesn't go beyond league average, even with the 450 foot HR. I prefer to give Vargs one more shot but I'm more ambivalent on that matter and more on the sign Darvish and trade for Archer bandwagon.
  21. I think Derek Rodriguez has a chance to be a serviceable pitcher in the bigs. Too bad he was buried behind so many pitchers and went to the Giants.
  22. Mammoth mountains are only a few hours drive from soutgern CA. Lots of snowmobiling, snow boarding and skiing there. No ice fishing though.
