  1. Ill vote romero. Its a close one though with lamarre. Gordon is just a half step back imo but worthy as well.
  2. Hopefully his time in Cincinnatti has made Vargas a better player and he will be a consistant .850 - .900 OPS player moving forward.
  3. I do believe betsy that there was a stepping over the line by Sano. What i don't know is by how much. Was he blatantly over stepping the line, was he misled or did he misunderstand signals by her to a point before he crossed the line, what happened when the line was crossed? Did Betsy embellish what happened any to add drama and build her case further? And with the mixed testimonies and the fact that it was 2 years earlier and no one was physically damaged, I got the answer within the range of what I was expecting. 0 - 10 games. I do hope Sano learned where the line is at and steers clear of these allegations again. Moving forward that is the most important aspect and that protocols get put in place throughout the organization to keep this from happening in the future. I dont think Sano will avoid suspension a second time through this process and it may be longer as a result of additional investigations. I do think he did not intend to hurt or force himself on her either. I think these were actions of someone who is still growing up. So i hope no one holds a grudge on him either.
  4. Well we do have a flyball staff for the most part, so im good with Escobars D at SS for now.
  5. Also buxton hits 3 inside the park hrs. 4 twins knock in 100 RBI. 6 with atleast 90.
  6. 6 pitchers will have at least 10 wins. Buxton steals 50 bases with 3 caught steals and hits 25 doubles, 16 triples, and 24 hrs. Mauer goes .450 OBP / .450 slg to OPS at .900 for the season. Berrios has 200+ strikeouts The Twins have 5 30 Hr hitters, Sano, Morrison, Dozier, Kepler, Rosario Dozier, Buxton, Berrios, Sano all sign extentions of 4 or more seasons. I win free trip and tickets to see Twins in World Series. And i catch a hr or foul ball at a game this year... from the stands.
  7. Also atleast Polonco is owning the punishment and consequences. I dont like what happened cause it hurts the investments made by the team by creating an unnecassary whole, but he is owning up to it. The excuse of ignorance has been used passed the point of it being acceptible though. I would be ok with increasing the penalty to a full season to deter this type of behavior.
  8. On offense, I would be happy with just a .320 + OBP. Everything else is gravy.
  9. Familia situatiin is the closest comp to what happened in Sano case. I think a 10-15 game suspension will occur. I think the provable facts are so week that MLB just wishes this to go away. Hence the delay in findings.
  10. Long term my money is on Wander Javier. I think Polanco has it the next two years though.
  11. With Santana on DL to start the seaon, we could have one more reliever in the majors. Tyler Duffey is also left off the roster. Not sure that will happen. We'll see
  12. Dont forget in an offseason of buying we still came away with 3 top 30 prospects too. That brings the total to 6 since last July at minimal cost. I think this gets overlooked because we usually aquire prospects because of selling. As far as Hughes goes the optimal way to deal with him is to make him earn his time again like everyone else. For now he competes for the 5th starter. If he looses he competes for bullpen long relief. Then we can try disable list/ demotion to minors and eventually release/ buyout if Hughes is willing. I suspect the Twins will not release him this year. If anything they will want to see where he is next year and may give him a month or so as mop up man before releasing him. I may be wrong but something along thise lines would be the most conservative thing to do with him.
  13. Didnt Tom Kelly preach to hit line drives? And as you say launch angle is another way of saying line drives....so brilliant. The statheads repackaged fundamental baseball and are called geniuses for creating a new competetive advantage.
  14. I think Dozier will hit over 300 HRs in his career. I would like to see him do it in a Twins uniform. He could be 2nd all time in Franchise HRs. Who saw that comming? Also Dozier is about to have 100 career steals as a Twin. That doesnt happen very often here. Occasionally its good to keep players around who are contributing and climbing franchise all time list as there will be lots of post playing days marketing if he stays too fir the Twins... Difference between Uggla and Dozier is speed and defense. Dozier has both Uggla had neither. There is a lot of value in that but also likely slows the aging curve for Dozier a little bit.
  15. If Hughes can handle ..... And if we raise our offer to Lynn.... For some reason i cant go back and edit.
  16. Do the Twins want to see how Hughes responds to a bigger workload before signing Lynn atleast at a higher price? If he can handle 5-6 innings a start and give up 2/3 runs he could be useful or wiuld we raise our offer to get him sooner so he can have a few spring starts?
  17. I think a good bet on yourself contract would be nice. 2 year 25 million contract with 3-4 million incentives per season with an option third season with 10 milliin base that goes up with innings pitched and becomes guarenteed at 185 or so. Having 5 #3 starters in the rotation is a great idea.
  18. Maybe Lynn can push that up a little 2/25 with option and buyout....but I imagine the Yankees might jump in on 2/20.
  19. When the other teams issued the QO, there were no draft picks assigned to them for signing them. The Twins would take into account the value of the draft pick in their offer and a discount based on the fact the player is unsigned and its spring training. It will be hard to prove collusion when the Twins made a 100 million + offer in free agency and have their highest payroll in team history. The reason the players on the market are unsigned is because of all the tanking going on. That isnt fun so I hope that is addressed in the next labor agreement. We are going into this season with basically 6 maybe 7 teams fighting for 5 playoff spots. Yanks, Redsox, Indians, Twins, Astros, Angels, and maybe Seattle. Atleast Texas and Toronto and Baltimore arent tanking.
  20. Im more concerned about the 6 runs in 2 innings Sanchez gave up today. While today is not a big deal....a few more appearances like that will be for him.
  21. I think there is enough interest in Lynn or Cobb that they can get close to the qualifying offer for a 1 year contract. Cobb was offered 42 million. I suspect that is one of his larger offers. I can see Cobb getting a 1 year 14-15 million ir 2 year 24-26 million. There are a few things to consider. 1. These pitchers all have draft picks attached so signing a 1 year deal is less favorable for teams to make that offer. But no one really wants to go 3 at their AAV rates either. I think these guys will sign a 1 year with club option or 2 year or 2 year with option. 1year is just too short unless they accept a 6-8 million offer. Another example is our own Ervin Santana who rejected the QO and signed for exactly the QO. Though you are pointing out those who signed for less. I am curious to see how this all plays out and if the Twins will decide to be one of the teams to sign a pitcher.
  22. Both offers were low ball offers. In Darvish case it was still over 100 million. I know now is the time to be shopping but i would hope the Twins would know the market a little better then that. While Logan is getting 0 interest. There is atleast interest in signing the thre remaining pitchers. I would think a 1 year 13-14 million with 1 or 2 million incentives should be an offer that can land one. I may wait a week or two before offering to see Hughes and Sanchez more. They may work as the 5th starter for a while till Hughes tires and Gonsalvez or Romero or Littell is ready to come up
  23. My concern is when there is a back injury, the pitcher favors the injury and changes mechanics adding stress to other areas....shoulder and ucl is my concern for this season.
