    I am a pretty consistent visitor/reader to the site. I would say my general view of everything is positive, though I do have a few items I think need to be addressed: 1) As with every social media site, comments are basically anonymous. Because of that, you see a lot of negativity and attacking (though the site does a pretty good job directing things towards the team and away from each other). This is basically unavoidable. 2) Many times there will be streaks of articles saying exactly the same thing. It feels a little lazy and more like the need for having "some" content vs "quality" content. 3) Along those same lines, there are a few contributors whose articles I have a tough time clicking on because of the number of click-bait articles. Along the lines of Stephen A Smith or Skip Bayless, it feels like an attempt at a cheap click count. It also takes away from when they write other articles of quality, 4) I believe there is also a place for long-form articles here. I understand the time investment can be rough on the writer, but the occasional change of pace would be great! 5) Lastly, I understand the need for advertising, but there will be times I try to access a story or write a comment and there are so many advertising windows pop up I have to refresh the page. There has to be a better way... Thanks for the efforts guys!

    You didn't really specify the "when" part of letting a player go. Is it now? Some point in the season? End of season? The only player with any real risk here is Margot. If Buxton goes down for an extended period of time, Margot is 100% safe. The rest of this article is an exercise in wishful thinking. Every player on that list has a history of performing better than they have. There is no player in the minors to replace them with a high expectation they will perform better. The Twins are obviously not going to increase payroll on a player from outside the organization. What you see is what you get.

    The "narrative" you are talking about just also happens to be the the truth. When healthy, he can be among the best in the game. The issue is he can't stay healthy, and when he tries to play at substantially less than 100%, he is pretty much brutal at the plate. You can really go down a rabbit hole discussing the semantics of the word overhyped. I just don't think that fits here. When I hear overhyped, I think of guys that have had all the publicity and never backed it up.

    Overhyped? Not sure where that is coming from... When healthy, he has been very productive. Streaky, but very productive. Even a Buck playing 120 games in the OF with average offensive production is worth what he brings.

    Whatever the future holds, Martin did not exactly blow things away while he was up. If we are getting excited over a slash of .226/.294/.371 this team is in big trouble.

    This isn't an argument of humans vs. robots. This is a discussion of an elite athlete that bites the hand that feeds him. The Twins kept giving him chance after chance to see if he would turn the corner and he didn't. I am talking low-hanging fruit here. Stay in shape. Work on your defense. Listen to your coaches about your hitting approach. He did none of these things. He had to get totally kicked out of baseball before the light bulb went off. Shameful is the correct word. Shameful that the Twins did not recognize this earlier and cut bait. Shameful that when he got his big money contract he coasted. I have argued multiple times on this site that sometimes players need a change of scenery to figure things out. This was not the case here. He just didn't care enough to improve. Everybody needs to stop defending him here. His failure was lack of caring.

    The iron man days of catching all the time are basically done. 130 games caught in a season is a unicorn. 100 is a realistic goal/expectation. Vasquez has been productive defensively. We probably can't discount how much he has helped Jeffers while he has been here. I am not going to argue rotation and health, because it worked last year and continues to work this year, I hope that Vasquez can start provide offense closer to his numbers before he came to MN.

    Lets see... Skilled player relies on natural ability early in career, has some success, but generally does not care about improving himself or his team. Skilled player eventually gets released and is looked upon so poorly no other team is willing to sign him. Skilled player gets older, matures, finally realizes he failed to live up to his god given talent. Skilled player looses extensive weight, gets back into shape, and is able to finagle a second chance. Skilled player sees success... The thing that irritates me about this narrative is the amount of time and money the Twins poured into this guy. Shameful...

    There is really nothing to wonder about. Ownership has been upfront that money drives 98% of their decisions. That is why you are seeing hand-wringing over $500k decisions right now. They are not willing to make necessary moves to make the team better. One thing I wonder about: When someone smarter than me runs a cost analysis on this team, what do the ratios of wins vs. payroll vs. attendance show? Does winning the division increase income enough to offset a 10-15% increase in payroll? How does that effect attendance? My guess is there is a sweet spot where the Twins are competitive (but not great) with a mid-level payroll that generates enough attendance to make money. Which means we as fans accept high-mediocre teams at an acceptable rate by ownership.

    Backups are backups for a reason. Expecting Margot to be the second coming is unfair. These types of signings always carry risk... Farmer and Santana, not just struggling but being horrific on offensive, are two of the biggest let-downs so far this year. They continue to be thrust out there because of lack of institutional choices at the moment.

    The only real answer here is SWR. He will get every opportunity to hold that spot. The real question is who is next? There is no reasonable expectation that the other 4 starters will stay 100% healthy all year. We know the Twins will not spend a dime on increasing payroll. Who is next? Will they rush Festa? There is literally no other options in the minors... I continue to be amazed there is not a mass riot outside Twins Field every day for the way ownership has destroyed this team and alienated the fanbase this past offseason.

    The other factor in the Taylor discussion was that his asking price was higher than $4m before the Twins acquired Margot. Once the Twins got Margot and were out of the bidding, Taylor had to "settle" for the $4m contract. MAT was playing chicken with the market and lost.

    I think they were hedging their bets, especially in the public eye. If Santana performs well, they can move Kiriloff to the outfield with little fanfare and move on from Kepler at any point.. If Santana is bad, they can play him at first "as was always their intention". What the FO says to the public always needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Dishonesty and misdirection are part of the game. Who knows what the actual intention was behind the scenes.

    Yep. Games played this year: 9 - OF 6 - DH 4 - 1B Kiriloff is a decent OF. 1B is fairly easy to replace. Unless they pull the plug on Santana (very possible), I would expect those game's played ratios to stay about the same

    100% this. You can add the complete meltdown of Santana to this unexpected mix as well. (IMO Santana was brought in with the intention to have Kiriloff play more outfield) All of the Twins fandom that has been screaming to give <insert Twins prospect here> an opportunity on the big team, be careful what you wish for. Watching them play for a sub .450 team is just about here.
