The Twins' 3 Biggest Weaknesses
Seansy replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would say none of these issues need to be addressed right now and aren't likely to be addressed at the deadline either. For 1B, Arraez can hold down the fort just fine. After him it will be some combination of AK when he starts hitting better or Sańo after a lengthy rehab appearance to get his timing back. LF is Larnach's spot. The pitching has been above average and aside from an injury I would rather the team stay pat. Don't forget Maeda will be back at some point this year!- 56 replies

The Alex Kirilloff Situation Is a Colossal Bummer
Seansy replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This is the most depressing injury news for the Twins this season in that AK's injury may be career ending/altering and would rob him and Twins fans of what looked like an outstanding career. All the best to him. -
Gilberto Celestino Demonstrating Big-League Value
Seansy replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think calling him a 4th outfielder sells him short on both his prospect pedigree and production. He was never a global top 100 guy but as a big bonus international signing with good success in the minors he projected somewhere between a glove first back up CF if he couldn't keep up hitting to an either average or above average CF starter depending on his hitting. He should be treated as the primary back up CF to Buxton when he's out but one that also plays regularly against LHP in the corners with Garlick to give Max and Trevor an occasional day off. That should give him plenty of PA to maintain his hitting approach and be successful contributing to the team. -
Is the Twins Rotation for Real?
Seansy replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
My two favorite targets, Gausman and Rodón, have been incredible and would of been great additions but a lot of other big money free agents like Stroman and Semien have struggled so far this year. My reasoning for those two was that they didn't have a QO attached and I felt more confident they could replicate their results than Ray. Given how well the rotation has pitched so far and the addition of Correa it is hard to fault the result. If Bundy pitches well all season they have an option for him plus 1 more year of control for Gray. Archer is likely gone at season's end but I'm guessing they fill his spot long term with Winder. After next year Bundy and Gray should be replaced with some combination of Balazovic, Canterino, Sands, Henriquez, etc. depending on their performance in the minors. The pitching pipeline is finally starting to bear fruit!- 44 replies

Correa Dynamite at Press Conference
Seansy replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It certainly would be nice if they could keep him for longer than 1 year. We'll see how much is it blowing smoke when next offseason rolls around.- 26 replies

Four Twins Make MLB Pipeline Top 100
Seansy replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I would rather make a lower cost trade for 1 of Manea, Freeland, or Elieser Hernandez. It doesn't have to be Montas/Manea or bust if the bidding gets out of control.- 18 replies

The Twins May Have Their Next Tyler Duffey
Seansy replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Given how many higher upside SP prospects are behind him shifting Jax to the BP seems like the best chance for him to stick and be productive in the majors. Agree with this assessment 100%. -
Stock Watch: 3 Falling Twins Prospects
Seansy replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Cavaco still has time to right the ship but it's looking dicey given his struggles so far. I wanted Stott, Carroll, Espino, or Rutledge at that spot. Rutledge has been up and down but still looks better than Cavaco. Stott is a top 100 guy now, Espino is in the 50-75 range and Carroll is top 25-50. Hopefully Cavaco bounces back because there are A LOT of guys we passed on that the Twins will look back on and regret not taking.- 22 replies

Dreaming On Trevor Story to the Twins
Seansy replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Story is definitely an option but given his offensive and defensive decline I worry that if he doesn't bounce back we'll be stuck with an albatross contract for 5-6 years. I would rather the Twins spend their money on pitching to target Rodon, Kikuchi, Pineda, trades than hope Story bounces back on a long term deal. We have about ~42M to spend. If we drop 25M per year on Story that leave ~17M to fill out the rotation and possibly add a BP arm or two. -
A Jake Odorizzi Reunion Would Benefit All Three Sides
Seansy replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I like the idea of targeting Odorizzi. The only FA starters I'm interested in are Rodon, Pineda, Kikuchi, and maybe Greinke. That's not a lot of starters given how many teams need pitching still. Since Odo is basically a salary dump for Houston we could probably get him for a PTBNL AND Houston would pay down some of his salary too. Given how much he enjoyed pitching here that counts as a win-win in my book. Other trade targets for SP for me include Kyle Freeland and Elieser Hernandez. I also like Tom's suggested 3 team trade idea. -
What Will the Twins do with Miguel Sanó?
Seansy replied to Andrew Mahlke's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You aren't getting much, if anything, by trading him away right now so use him at DH and 1B this year. If he plays well, trade him or keep him and exercise his option. If he's bad/mediocre, decline his option and move on. Pretty straightforward imo. -
Steamer Projects Massive Season for Byron Buxton
Seansy replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would take the over on his OPS but the under on his games played. His WAR is probably correct since the higher offensive production will help offset the missed games played. -
Part 2: Seth's Top 30 Twins Pitching Prospects (21-25)
Seansy replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I think Cano and Gore (if he doesn't get picked in the Rule 5 draft) will be good mid-season call up options for the Twins. The rest will be interesting to follow in the minors.- 13 replies

Will José Miranda Make the Twins' Opening Day Roster?
Seansy replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would guess they start him at AAA and (barring an injury) he would get called up after the trade deadline when they trade JD. I'm assuming they won't be competitive this year which is why JD gets traded to make room for him once the FO knows the season is lost. Barring a trade or injury (or change to service time rules in new CBA) I view the trade deadline as the most likely time he gets called up. -
A Perfect Free Agent Exists for the Twins
Seansy replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Dan Hayes threw cold water on the Twins going after Rodón unless he's available late in ST on a "prove it deal". This offseason is going to be such a disappointment.- 61 replies

A Perfect Free Agent Exists for the Twins
Seansy replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think he will go closer to a 20-25M/year deal if it is only 1-2 years. Maybe you can get it at 18M/year for a 4 year deal. At FG the projection was 3/45 or 4/80. MLB trade rumors had 1/25. I agree though that Rodón is a must sign to be competitive next year. He has no QO attached. He has ace upside when healthy. He should be the top priority for the Twins FO if they are to ever be believed again in their statements about spending and being competitive.- 61 replies

The Twins Probably Need an Outfielder. What's Available?
Seansy replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Assuming the Twins keep Kepler I would be fine rolling with Rooker in LF until either Larnach supplants him or he seizes the job for the year. I also wouldn't be opposed to a 1 year stop gap signing to start Rooker at AAA as depth. Could be a trade chip if the player they sign plays well and the team underwhelms again. -
3 Routes for the Twins After the Lockout
Seansy replied to Nash Walker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sign Rodón, trade for an undervalued starter like Elieser Hernández and/or Kyle Freeland. Sign a stopgap SS like Simmons ?, Iglesias, or trade for Ahmed/Dejong. This avoids gutting the farm, lets the team compete in 2022, and maintains flexibility to pivot to compete in 2023 if the team underperformes in '22 by using the 2nd half to promote their prospects after trading/dumping players at the trade deadline. -
My 2022 Offseason Blueprint, Round 2: Manaea, Iglesias
Seansy commented on cjm0926's blog entry in cjm0926's Blogs
No way Stroman takes 4/80 after what Gausman and Ray signed for. He will want a MINIMUM of 5/100 and it will likely take much more per year to sign him given his durability and longer track record of above average production than Gausman or Ray. Otherwise it is a pretty solid plan! -
Starting Pitching Trade Partners: Cincinnati Reds
Seansy replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think our best bet is to trade for Luzardo or Hernandez from the Marlins. They have more starters than they have spots for them to pitch and the acquisition cost for either of those two players will be significantly less than it would for a 1 year rental from Oakland or a 2 year contract for a Reds starter. If we sign one of Stroman/Rodon trade for one of Luzardo or Hernandez and either sign a 3rd starter like Pineda/Duffy or trade for Odorizzi as a salary dump from Houston then we should have enough pitching to compete this year without trading any of our promising young pitchers that will start appearing at MLB level in '22 and '23.- 23 replies

Week in Review: Steps Forward and Setbacks
Seansy replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News

Miranda Mania: 3 Ways To Get Him To Minneapolis

Three 'Combination' Minnesota Twins Trade Packages
Seansy replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I would rather get Mauricio instead of Baty but they are close to equivalent. Matt Allan is one guy I would like to target BECAUSE of the injury. Value lower due to the increased risk. Can Rocker be traded once the Mets sign him?
