  1. I would like him and he is still available. But I don't see us ponying up the 20-22 mil that he is going to get. After all we have signed Staumont already for 950k. I am not saying that we should have shelled out 95mil for Hader. I get it the Twins are limited in some things they can do compared to other teams. But Houston signing Hader was not a waste or a dumb thing to do. It made them better, and who knows may have opened the door for other moves down the road. Houston gets it and made a good move. Edit: 20-22 mil for 2 seasons.
  2. An interesting trade proposal was brought upon tonights MLBTR Live chat: Twins trade Jorge Polanco to Seattle for SP Emerson Hancock. I'm sure other pieces would get involved but that is the type of trade that would intrigue me.
  3. He was solid with the Orioles last year. Bench depth. Insurance. If he's toast NYY is still on the hook for his salary, nothing to lose if he'd come here. We want to contend, that is usually a better chance of happening with a vet. As others pointed out he'd allow a rookie a chance to mature at AAA rather than ride the pine.
  4. I think this proposal is one of those more uncommon ones, where both teams say no.
  5. Maybe I'm missing them but I nominate P's Mike Mason from Faribault and Paul Giel from Winona for this team. I know neither was very good as Twins but they were Twins.
  6. I'm actually OK this time if the signing of an SP is the Ryu or Lorenzen type. Or the trade is the Odorizzi type we made back in the day. I'm good with the talent we have at hand, they are a solid bunch. But that being said we do need some depth and insurance behind these guys.
  7. There will be an addition or two to the roster. Maybe even a trade or two. It just remains to be seen what kind of talent it is. I am on the verge of giving up that the trades and signings will be major needle movers however. Big names cost big money and or highly rated prospects. NO to Rodney. LOL
  8. They have the Ad up on CraigsList as well. Cheap Pohlad's. Anything they can get for nothing......
  9. Alcala. He is good and has the right makeup to get outs. Easy call, plus he's signed thru 2025.
  10. I'd love to have Snell. We won't be in on him however. He has already turned down 5/150 from NYY. I don't want him for a price in excess of that. With that said I would like to see us grab Ryu and get the few healthy innings he'd muster. As for a trade for an SP I'm far less certain of it happening than in the past and from when the off season began. I think the price is high in both prospect cost and salary, so I'm guessing the Duo will come up empty this time.
  11. Not for the Twins it's not. We're still hurt over swinging and missing on Addison Reed and Jorge Lopez. So since you have a chance of failing why try at all?
  12. If he feels confident that he can stay healthy then yes I'd do it. He'd probably be a stud. No though to Stewart or Jax. I want someone better and established as closer. Trade for Williams or sign Hader.
  13. In looking over the catchers on that top 10 list I see Kirk as the only one that might be overrated. I still wouldn't rate Jeffers above Kirk though. Also in not knowing where Jeffers would actually land overall, I'd say he's more along the lines of being unrated as opposed to being underrated. He just doesn't get the reps these other guys do and that hurts his case. However if he was playing more his lines might not look as sharp as they do.
  14. On track for HOF? Better just get on track for being a more valuable commodity for the Twins. imo, this guy is about to fall off the cliff. His career is headed downward. Mets and Giants probably knew a bit of what they were doing.
  15. I would agree with chepetit that ERod's value may never be higher than it is now. But with that said he still doesn't have enough value to get a TOR SP by himself. Not even close. Using our own Louis Varland as an example, I don't think he could even get Varland w/o additional resource added in. But because he has the potential to be a star but who's not at top trade value I want to keep him. Rightnow with things as they are in baseball I don't want to see any of Jenkins, Lee, Rodriguez or Raya traded. As an organization we can't afford to lose value on any of these.
  16. Yep, and some would have never wanted Rodney Carew to come back to the Twins either back in the day for the same assinine reasons. I would have loved to see Rod Carew come back to the Twins in 1980. Would have given people at least one reason to come to a Twins game.
  17. Buxton did mostly play D until last year. Buzton has averaged 74 games a year. Kiriloff 67. Good grief, both of these guys are a glass house waiting to shatter. This is what we're relying on in thinking we are championship contenders? Guys that can't even play half a season most every year b/c they are always injured. "We're going to be so awesome this year because Buxton will be back in CF." **** he'll play 60-70 games again and then he'll pack it in.
  18. Arraez is interesting, but I expect nothing to come about as far as a Twin return. At least not this year anyway. Kiriloff, now that is concerning. Though tbh not a surprise at all. The guy is one injury after another. Worse than Buxton actually.
  19. Count me among those who wouldn't object to a Clevinger signing.
  20. I don't feel like I am underrating, under estimating or under valuing either. But I would sure as heck like a guy to slot ahead of them behind Lopez, or better yet a guy that slots in ahead of all 3. My honest opinion? I don't think its happening this year. Every team has set a premium on starting pitching, a lot based on how expensive under performing back of the rotation guys are getting paid in FA. I don't think the FO is going to be willing to pay that premium this year in prospect talent. Plus we are cost cutting so even a Lorenzen type is beyond our pay scale in FA. I'm hoping that maybe a Ru type would come to us in FA. But my hope is fading. So, Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Varland and Paddock will be our rotation. With AAA filling in the holes as they come throughout the season.
  21. Terry Felton will always be one of my favorite Twins from those early woe be gone days of the early 80's. How can you not feel for a guy that went 0-16 as a ML player? 1982 Twins, where the very foundation of '87 and '91 were laid.
  22. WAR. Its not the tell all end all stat that many make it out to be. Josh Donaldson. Last season hit .152 with a .249 OBP. With a bad attitude. Still had a positive WAR.
  23. I forgot to mention, we did recently sign Hobie Harris. So that is something. 😃
  24. Sounds like the Lord isn't finished with you yet and will see you through to a full recovery, praise be. In 2017 I was in the same situation with gallstones. I could have easily died. For a couple of days I sure wanted to. Glad you are back. As for the Twins, and speaking of stones, they have laid quite the brick this offseason. At this point I am not expecting them to do much, maybe a lower level FA sign or two, as I think they are on the course of building within. It sure worked well for Baltimore last season and who knows maybe the Twins this season.
