  1. If it's not Duffey, he must have some compromising pictures of Rocco somewhere......... EDIT==I now see it's Moran and I don't get it. Can anyone make a case for why Duffey should be on this team? I don't even understand the comparisons between Duffey and Pagan. I have zero problem with Pagan being the 6th inning guy. He's got stuff....can get a strikeout and (most) of his issues seem to come in 8th or 9th inning high leverage/save situations. Duffey right now is just praying for something to be hit at someone or the off chance someone will swing at one of his slurves in the dirt. IMHO he's almost unusable.
  2. Cody Lawyerson has a really funky delivery.....looks like he hides the ball real well. I can see him being a 1-2 inning bullpen arm down the road.
  3. The FO couldn't possibly say with a straight face that they are trying to win and then trade Correa. I agree that he isn't necessarily living up to his contract (at least at the plate) but you may have lost the clubhouse if he was traded. I love the moves. I think Povich has a real chance to be a good major league pitcher, but you got an all-star closer and one of the top 5 starting pitchers that got moved. A- grade at least.
  4. Is there some kind of promise that he will get a shot at the full-time shortstop position next year? I know it's a one year deal, but I wonder if that's a possibility?
  5. Winder has been shut down.....sent back for rehab work. No one is going to trade for him right now. You can't give up Miranda....he's been our most productive hitter/run producer over the last month. He's a cornerstone. I don't know if Larnach holds value while injured (hernia surgery shouldn't be a huge red flag). If Arraez can play a serviceable 2B, why isn't Polanco a trade chip? Will it screw with team chemistry too much?
  6. I would agree with you....my post was in general I would use Larnach and Winder as trade chips in any deal, even though i know this is a Montas thread.
  7. Ahhhh....good one. You got me. Rotator cuff would've been the proper term, and worse result for Winder.
  8. Larnach and Winder are the two trade chips that I'd offer. I think AK has the chance to be something special. I think Larnach is always going to be susceptible to offspeed stuff. Winder seems like he's Tommy John waiting to happen......
  9. Didn't mean to infer that I know him, just what I'd heard. He was healthy enough (from what I heard) to pitch at the end of the college season but shut it down to prepare for his pro career. The Rocker route makes no sense. The only reason Rocker went independent ball was the Mets literally didn't make him a contract offer due to medical red flags. I doubt that's the case here. The independent route has not worked out for anyone in the past that i can think of......just my 2 cents.
  10. Rucker and Larnach had 2 of the best college seasons of all time (granted at the D1 level) and they hist .387 and .348 respectively. So anyone hitting over .350 in college is still impressive.
  11. Prielipp is going to sign. He wants to be a pro.....now. He doesn't want to wait. College baseball was his showcase. I saw a couple of Bama games and on at least 2 occasions it was "intimated" that some weren't happy with him that he was sitting out the whole season and not even considering coming back toward the end of the season to help out the team and make a run in the CWS. He sat out to protect his professional stock and avoid any chance at injury. No way he goes back to play another year of college baseball. If the Twins make him a reasonable offer, he will sign. I wonder if the parameters of a deal were already in place.
  12. Texas State is not DII....they were a very good D1 team who could've/should've beat Stanford to advance to the CWS.....they absolutely choked in game 3 of the series and Stanford advanced. I noticed him during the series....he was clearly their best offensive player.
  13. If they are going to get a legit starting pitcher at the deadline, they are going to have to give up some real assets which include Lewis (hope not), Martin and Steer all of whom play similar positions to Lee and Schrobel. I have a feeling this played into their thinking as well.
  14. So we need a starting pitcher, 2 relief pitchers and a hitter, but don't sell the farm? Good luck with that. IMO....we don't need a hitter. Who are you benching? What we need is guys to perform to their contracts (Correa and Buxton) and the young guys to continue to develop (Miranda and AK). If we are going to get Montas or Castillo we are going to have to give up some real assets, not Cave, Gordon, Urshella, etc..... I'm hopeful that Ober can help soon. Maeda as a bullpen piece? Take a run at a real ace, and get an expiring contract relief stud. I'd much rather see Smeltzer and Winder in the bullpen than Smith and Pagan.
  15. Could Sands move to the. bullpen and have a similar increase in velocity as Jax? His slider/curveball could certainly be nasty coming out of the pen for an inning or two, but it sure would be nice to increase the velocity.......
  16. Mediocre fastball? I regularly seeing it hit 96-97......
  17. I'm sure that's true, but what is he going to say??? "I'm really so unhappy here. This city sucks and I hate these guys in the clubhouse?" Not trying to be a dick...... He's obviously still got the stuff and he surely shoved it right up the Twin's behind during that start.
  18. Seriously. Pagan hits 98 mph earlier in the inning and Reyes never even sees a letter high fastball (a pitch the whole world knows he can't hit)......is that all on Jeffers?????
  19. 250 BA, 8 HR, 34 RBI's in 220 plate appearances as a rookie don't seem to indicate he's lacking in any of those things.....he got hurt....he's rehabbed and he's crushing it currently in the only place he's allowed to play. What do you want from him?
  20. I don't understand why this is so difficult. Kiriloff should be your primary first baseman. Arraez has done an admirable job but AK has a very good glove and the right size to play the position. Arraez can focus on what he does best.....DH and continue to hit the crap out of the ball. He can also fill in at 1B and 2B when needed. Miranda has been nice, but he's not Kiriloff who I think is one of those natural hitters that doesn't come along very often. Miranda can split time with Gio and other places. He may have trade value as well.
  21. I'd love to know the rule.....it was called a ball. There was no swing......strange.
  22. Except when he gets through 5 on 59 pitches....... SMH
  23. Larnach and Martin for Montas? I love Larnach and think he's going to be a very good player for a long time.....but you've got to give up something to get something. Kirilloff looks to be getting healthy, but I think teams would be scared to deal for him. The question the FO will need to ask themselves is are you willing to spend the $$$$ to keep him when his contract is up. If not, stand pat and try to acquire some bullpen help.
  24. I really hope I'm wrong, but I think tonight is going to ugly for the Twins......
  25. Seriously,....it's a one run game, and my first thought was "Rocco isn't throwing up the white flag" because he's bringing in Duffey. There is literally no situation that he is pitchable in right now. As for who else? Ahhhhhhhhhh....they just sent out a reliever with a sub 2 ERA....call me crazy, but I think most would take Cotton.
