  1. Lopez's pitching "didn't bring the win in the end"????? Uh, yes it did. Without going 7 2/3 and giving up only 2 runs, do you think they win? So the only way pitching "brings the win" is if they throw a shut-out? What do you think the score is if Bundy or Archer are starting like last year??? Losing Arraez sucks....I get it. But hitting for the cycle maybe contributes 2 runs of offense....right? Maybe 3? Archer or Bundy would've given that up within 4 innings.
  2. No. Sorry. Not directly at you but everyone in every game thread is bitching about Buxton. It's already been reported that they will start to work him into the outfield toward the end of April
  3. They've already announced that he will be tried in the outfield at the end of April.....relax.
  4. I don't think you want Celestino in the outfield right now.....he would probably even have a harder time hitting. SMH
  5. I love the idea of taking away CB Buckner and Angel Hernandez's ability to screw with the game.....seen too many times when umps like them stick it to another team that may be chirping or they don't like. I also love the idea of an actual strike zone being called whether it's Aaron Judge playing for the Yankees vs. Joe Schmo for the Pirates. As far as pitch framing, It isn't always "pulling in a strike".....some catchers are so good it's just the way they catch the ball. The ball hits the glove, the glove doesn't move and it looks like a strike when in reality it's 2-3 inches off the plate. Simply turning the wrist can steal strikes too. If you've ever pitched to really good catchers vs. really poor ones, you know what I'm saying. In defense of humans, calling balls and strikes ain't easy....actually amazed how they get it right most of the time.
  6. Polanco makes sense when he's healthy. Pencil him in everyday. As a switch-hitter you don't need to worry about match-ups. When he needs a day off, Gordon can do the job. I think the lineup continuity would help.
  7. Sanchez really surprises me. His price tag must be too high, but some of the catchers that will apparently make clubs seem like lesser players to me. He wasn't "terrible" for the Twins last year as a second catcher...... And wow! How quickly Sano's career seems to have gone in the tank? Amazing that someone wouldn't take a chance on him.
  8. Agreed....if it's really just tendonitis, 8 months of rest in the offseason should have been plenty of time to recover. This one worries me if he is still walking with a limp.....
  9. The famous Royce Lewis leg kick appears to be gone????? If you had to draw up a perfect looking left handed swing, it would probably be close to mirroring AK's.
  10. No disrespect intended, but if you watch the strikeouts that Deleon had in the game, it appears the WBC strike zone is much larger than MLB's........
  11. I've seen him pitch several times and i've never seen his fastball come anywhere near the upper 90's. If he really has that in him, make him a reliever and let him go with that in shorter stints. I do like his curveball.
  12. I just banged on my laptop and tried new ear buds until I read the comments.....😅
  13. I remember when Jason said Ryan LaMarre was the next Mike Trout after hitting .400 in spring training several years ago.......😉
  14. The AVERAGE MLB fastball last season was 93.9 MPH........there just isn't a lot of starting pitchers in baseball anymore (outside of some lefty junk ballers) who throw a 91 MPH fastball. Think Dylan Bundy.
  15. I frankly don't understand the desire to get more catching. We just signed Vazquez to a 3 year deal and Jeffers is still very young for an everyday or backup catcher. We are in a win-now era....are we not? I'd rather see them get back a major league caliber relief pitcher. What would it take to get Graterol back???? Or Hudson?
  16. You took the words right out of my mouth.....you look at his size, the speed, the positional flexibility and then you see that switch-hitting swing, and he appears to me to be a clone of Jorge Polanco, and that would be a very good thing.
  17. Two things: Miller---agreed on what some have said about him. He's one year removed from playing high school baseball in Wisconsin (which due to weather usually amounts to about 20 games). He was the primary shortstop in his first full year of pro ball and by all reports is a very good defender while still being over 2 years younger than the average player at that level. Way too early to say he's a bust. This will be a big year for him. Enlow---I think he has a big year. Speaking from experience, that first year of pitching post-TJ surgery is rough. You have to get over the mental hurdles that the arm is healthy while trying to get the feel back of all of your pitches. Hopefully, he now knows he's healthy and can let it loose. I've always thought his curveball was perhaps the best in the organization . Fingers crossed.
  18. That's a real possibility.....hadn't heard if the hip was a chronic thing or not. His arm seemed to hold up pretty well.
  19. Is Archer a possibility for the bullpen? Would he accept that role? IDK....but he seems like a guy at this point in his career that could be valuable throwing an inning or two in relief. He seemed to do well the first time through the batting order and than his stuff would go away. It would seem his fastball velo might tick up a bit if he knew he was only throwing an inning. His FB/Slider combo seems more suited for the bullpen anyway. Finally, he seemed to be a really sharp guy who got along well in the clubhouse. Just a thought.
  20. There aren't 100 better prospects in the game than Royce.....I don't care what Law has to say.
  21. I read that the physical part of the leg has already been completed so there is nothing to hold this up...... https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1612865685289406486?s=20&t=0MZQRHZ6LdWloYVRNtCryg
