    He walked one guy....he was throwing strikes....he was ahead of most of the hitters. Lots of soft contact, seeing eye hits. Verdugo's hit was a Fenway special. That stuff seems to happen at Fenway. The D killed us. Vazquez had a bad game defensively.

    I just laugh at the people who are now advocating we give the ball to Pagan in a save situation.......you would've slashed Rocco's tires had he brought Pagan in the game and he blew it.

    I thought when Rocco said "He was especially sharp in the first 3 innings...." it was a subtle jab. And Rocco did make a point of saying he wasn't pleased with having a "bunch of Yankees surrounding" the umps during the issue. I think he made his point. Pretty eloquently. Why does German have a rosin bag in the dugout that he's using between innings??? Isn't the rosin bag supposed to be on the back of the mound for use while he's pitching? Ump has a problem with the stickiness....check the rosin bag.

    Finally forked out the $$$ and paid for MLBTV...so the first time I've seen Ryan pitch live this season.....has he changed his windup to start the season or was this a new thing tonight? He didn't bring his hand over his head to start the windup but kept them in front of him..... Whatever made him change....keep it up LOL

    I like the way they are bringing him along.....came in the 6th inning yesterday in high leverage (1-0) game. He had a 1-2-3 inning. I think you will continue to see him progress as the year goes on. One thing is clear...he seems to really like his slider at this point more than his fastball.

    Every kid growing up now (at least where my kids play) uses the extended flap and I've never heard them complaining (can't tell you if that's because they don't know any different). As for me, I had been playing fairly high-level ball for 10-15 years when I first tried it. I think it was probably the change that bothered me most....hard to tell. I probably blamed it for my trouble with a low slider....LOL. The players coming up have been used to using it (at least as an option) while growing up. But, like I said, I think it will be more and more customary (if not mandatory) in the near future. I've seen plenty of 90 mph fastballs in my day.....scary enough. Add in 10 mph and it boggles my mind. You have literally no chance to get out of the way if you're actually committed to staying on the ball.

    The "chin guard" extension type helmet first started being used when I was finishing up playing amateur baseball. I hated them. I felt it was distracting and felt that it affected the way you could track some lower pitches. However, that was amateur baseball. With guys averaging 93+ on fastballs nowadays.....I think we will see these becoming more and more common in the MLB. Seeing guys throwing 100+ and not always having the best command is frightening. There is literally near-zero reaction time.

    Polo, AK, Gallo, Buck, Farmer, Lewis, Kepler We almost have a full lineup of injured players right now. You gotta cut them a little slack, right?

    Last thing i'll say on this topic....I promise. Julien almost made 2 errors today. The ground ball under his glove should've been fielded. The throw to first after catching the line drive was terrible and only wasn't an error because it hit the railing. When's the last time you've seen a right-fielder make 2 errors in one game (that didn't involve the White Sox LOL) ????

    Am I the only one that thought that was seriously bad base-running by Buxton???? If he just goes to the outside, I don't think Chicago has any play with Gordon running.......

    We are going to be very left-handed vs. the Yankees (assuming that's some of the rationale behind Garlick). Miranda, Correa (hopefully), Julien, Solano, Vazquez, Larnach, Taylor, Gordon, Wallner, ----not a batting order.

    Cool....we can agree to disagree. Wallner's flyout also got Castro over to 3rd.....not a bad AB.

    Backhand play....he kinda went down to one knee and the ball went under his glove. Never got the glove down.

    If you watched the game, the ball hit him flush in the face (that sickening sound). I'm amazed it didn't break his jaw. Speedy recovery to Kyle!!!!

    Rocco just said the Buxton was coming out of the game after the collision. Apparently, Vazquez was set to hit for him.... Just reading the tea leaves....I'll be shocked if he plays at least for the next couple of games....

    That could've been an error in the early innings (I know he didn't touch it blah blah blah) but a major leaguer should make that play. All this and I want Julien in the lineup....BUT the defensive replacement was the right move.

    OMG.....so you wanted Rocco to keep Julien in the game defensively? He NEVER (at this point in his career) makes that play that Gordon made....

    I think the feeling was Gordon at 2nd was the upgrade to Julian.... And Wallner is not that bad of an outfielder.....runs well...might have best arm of any of our outfielders. Julien is a real liability at 2B....you could see on the backhand play he didn't make. Gordon comes in and makes a diving play to perhaps save a run (Julien wouldn't have made that play) and then turns a double play and you're complaining? I think you gotta tip your cap to Rocco on this one.

    THIS! Once our training staff gets ahold of him, it's gonna be a 10 day trip to the injured list.
