  1. You always expected him to be an All star? Towards the top of the batting title race? I know I didn't expect him to be at least this good. No one really predicted him to be this good of a hitter. If they had, he would have been a top 20 prospect in baseball.
  2. Polanco has been a baller at short. I wish people would quit worrying about him as some kind of defensive liability. He's good there, he hits and he's locked up. One of the best SS's(all around) this club has ever employed.
  3. You might be right but I would be on the phone hot and heavy to get into the Mets stable of arms. Syndergaard is who I would target. I would trade one of Lewis or Kiriloff + 1 other guy. Or, heck, give us Zack Wheeler also and you add another 2 good prospects. These are the types they should target. Power arms. Not this crafty lefty 90-91 mph stuff. Bring in one or both of those studs and lets roll. Not against going after Wheeler as a rental either. I like both of these guys WAY more than Bumgartner, the cat from Detroit, or the Toronto Blue Jay guy.
  4. If I am going to trade Royce Lewis, then I want the very best pitcher available that is under team control if I am trading him. Is that Boyd? I'm not sure it is, this looks like a career year from him. But I think if you are willing to let go of Royce Lewis, it has to be for the very best pitcher you can get and if that takes adding someone to get it done, then so be it. Don't waste the guy getting a #3 starter.
  5. Really, REALLY, hope this isn't the case. People have been waiting around a long time for our home grown talent to be here and producing to finally make a run for it. Well, here it is. Most of it is up here and producing but they need to add in order to give themselves a real shot to win in the playoffs. IMO, this trade deadline is the most important thing that has happened around here in a long time and definitely the biggest point in the careers of the 2 wonderkids we have running the show.
  6. Why is that? If Kiriloff is able to be traded for a controllable top of the rotation piece, move him. You have some nice outfielders on your team. Lock up Eddie and Buxton and this team will be fine for years to come. If it is me, I go over to the Mets and offer a guy like Kiriloff + another 10-20 guy for one of those high end starters they have. It is OK to send out good talent if you are getting good talent in return. The iron is hot now, go ahead and do what it takes.
  7. Pressly is one of the best relievers in baseball FYI. Twins could really use him right now. I was not in favor of that trade. And yes, if the Twins were offered a top 5 in that trade with Houston, and in a position where they probably weren't going to compete for quite a few years, I'm pretty sure they would have dumped Gibson as well. Maybe not, but it would be seriously considered I'd say.
  8. Wow. I doubt it. Look at past trades to see what kind of guys this would take. One of our top 3-10 guys and 2 guys in that 10-20 range would do it.
  9. I'm with you all. They literally need a starter and 1 or 2 relievers. Get busy already. What is the waiting for? IMO, it has to do with prospect hoarding and the same cheap BS we've seen for years with this club. This the best chance they've had since 2010. Add now, quit waiting around. If this FO sits on its hands or brings in marginal help and the team doesn't make the playoffs or goes one and done, good luck selling tickets going forward. This fanbase deserves some investment from their front office/ownership.
  10. Why trade a good defensive 2b who hits for power when you are going for it this season? IMO, this would be insane. What did it take for the Astros to get Ryan Pressly from us? That is what we should be offering other teams for their high end guys. Both of those guys were out of the top 10 of their prospect list. Why do we need to get screwed all the time, then you want to trade our starting 2B who is playing well and one of our top 5 prospects for a reliever? Shouldn't take that much. Give whoever a choice of 2-3 guys from our 10-20 list for their stud reliever and you have a deal. By doing this you also have to move the best player on your team off the position he's been playing for years now and you break up your up the middle infield defense. No friggen way would I go for this. By the way Polanco is playing more than just fine at SS this season.
  11. How about, he's just not good and never was. There's a reason he was a no-name that no one wanted but the Twins. It's been a bubble gum and bandaid fix to the pen so far this season. We all knew this would be a team weakness. It needs to be addressed with high end talent. The very best out there no matter what the cost. All of their other moves have worked out and this team as it sits is a WS contender. Time to open up the pocket books and let go of a few young guys with talent, the iron is hot now, time to strike.
  12. I have been gone from here for a long time, not posting, etc been busy with family life, work, etc. we all know how that goes. I have been watching the Twins though and this so far has been a great season. The lineup we have here might be one of the best in Twins history. They have been a blast to watch. A few surprises in the rotation have also been pleasant and they have produced as good or better than anyone could have hoped. (Ordorizzi, Perez) All that said, this bullpen needs work. We all knew going into the season that it could be or would be the team's weakness and even though they started out decent, most of this prediction is coming true. The way I look at it, you have Trevor May and Taylor Rogers out there and that's it. Going after Kimbrel, well, I can't say that I am surprised, but for the money he got, I think it would have been a good risk. Who is out there this team could target in a trade? They need 2 guys and it's not really even debatable. This is the best Twins team we have had around here for a long time, and it would be a dirty shame if this FO didn't supplement them to make a real run at a WS. Think about it. How long are we going to have all these guys around here on cheap deals? Also, some of the FAs they signed that are producing are on one year pacts as well. If there ever was a time to go all in, this is it. I expect to see them be very aggressive in the next month or so. I want none other than the very best reliever available along with another one that is close to top tier. One more starter to pair with Berrios would be wise as well. I really don't care about saving this guy(prospect) and saving that amount of money. The time is now. They are primed and ready. This is the same type of conundrum this organization was in the last time they had a good core with Hunter, Santana, etc. Here is your chance Mr. Pohlad and Mr. Wonderkid brainiacs. Make it happen.
  13. The problem with Austidillo in here and inside the organizations is that there are just so many geniuses around. He has weird numbers wasn’t a vaunted top prospect, doesn’t have good high end analytic numbers etc. But by just sitting down and watching him play, it’s obvious the guy is a baller and that at least at the moment, he is one fire. He should play most every day right now. Will he turn into a pumpkin at midnight sometime throughout the season? Maybe. But who cares right now. Don’t let your stat sheet and geek squad get in the way of your eyes right now. This guy can play and should be frequently
  14. If it were me, I just start Austudillo and use the other 2 as backups. I don't care what metrics say, I don't care who thinks who is better defensively. Austudillo is a ballplayer. He hits the ball and from what I have seen of him, he plays defense well also. Give the damn guy the reigns. If he is able to keep the kind of production from last year, spring training and his hot start here, he is a friggen all star. The other 2, I don't care how you slice it, are average at best catchers when you look at their entire game.
  15. Without knowing the numbers, it's hard to figure this. I'm fine with him not signing this year though. One more prove it year is fine. If he keeps improving, then they will have to pony up. If he doesn't, he will probably have to settle for the kind of money they offered him right now. Either is probably good for the Twins.
  16. Not sure I care how Buxton feels, or what he says about the Twins. Buxton hasn't produced at all, and the Twins were dinks last year to keep him stranded in the minors. Both deserve to be chided for the situation they are in. If Buxton wants to do it himself, it's fine to me as long as he produces. Who cares if it works, right? If he does more flopping, well then, he will need to own up to it. Let him sink or swim. Put up or shut up dude. Time to show everyone how good you can be.
  17. I'd guess both of these guys will be on one year deals. Teams aren't taking chances anymore on older players that are trending downward. It's too bad for them, but both are gonna have to bite the bullet if they want to continue making major league money. I would take either or both. Overpay for one year if you think that does it. Never hurts to bring talent in. And if they flop, it's only for a year. DFA and be done with them if you have to.
  18. Exactly. The more things change, the more they stay the same. The medical staff for this club has to be the worst in professional sports.
  19. At this point, I would say it is prudent to proceed as if Miguel Sano will never be a major part of this team, maybe ever. He may or may not be able to help out somewhere, but it looks like him being a cornerstone is just not gonna work out.
  20. No it's not. It was either a lie to what really happened, or it has been treated by a 3rd world doctor. There isn't any cut you could make that would have a player out that long. Maybe he sliced his achilles tendon. That would make more sense. A cut on the heel though? Yah right.
  21. I knew this was gonna be the case. Twins have a history of downplaying things and then coming out later like this. My guess, he comes back much later than May also and is fairly useless the rest of the season. And why don't they just tell us what this really is? He broke a foot or tore up his ankle or something. There isn't any cut that would take this long to heal, it's just silly they expect people to believe this.
  22. Buxton's approach has always been his problem, more than his mechanics. He generally has swung at bad pitches. Guessed alot of the time and gotten himself into bad counts and situations. If he can control the strike zone a little better, that is the key.
  23. I can understand this. That is why if going after help for the BP or the rotation, you grab stuff for the front of the line, not the back. Maybe they will be in on the top names come the deadline if they are in the race. That is what I would hope for at this point in time.
  24. I don't mind the signing. Versatile guy that can hit. He's good insurance for when Sano get hurt walking his dog or going out to get the mail. I still would rather have had the Twins spend real money on a difference maker, rather than bring in him, the pitcher from Texas, and the Angels pitcher. Use that money on one good guy instead of 3 marginal ones is my line of thinking.
