  1. I think Andrew Stevenson should be starting in CF for the Twins right now. High average, stealing basis, high on base .pct. He is putting it all together. Plus he was a top prospect at one time. He is putting it all together meanwhile we have Michael Taylor. So glad someone is mentioning him in this article.
  2. I think since the Cardinals are 5 or 6 deep at the outfield depth they really don't have the leverage to ask for 3 prospects like some are proposing. I think one pitching prospect would be sufficient. Take your pick of Louie Varland, Simeon Woods Richardson or Alejandro Hildago.
  3. I think he is a switch hitter that can play center field so could be helpful. Hitting .293 against lefties.

  4. I think Jorge Polanco. He has enough of a reputation that perhaps we could use him as a trade chip. I'd be open to trading Larnach, Kepler and Gallo as well. We could use help in CF and left handed relievers. I'd rather trade existing player and not have to deplete our prospect pool.
  5. There are two players I'd like to see the Twins obtain at the trade deadline. #1) Josh Hader. Having a left handed lock down reliever to accompany Duran would be priceless. We have something special in Duran and Hader is comparable from the left side. #2) Cody Bellenger. The Michael Taylor thing is getting old. Bellinger has won the World Series and hit 47 HR's one year. The power is not there this year but he is hitting +.300 and can play center field well and hit lefties. Or at the very least give Andrew Stevenson a try from St. Paul. He is having a great year.
  6. I'd move on from some of these players who have not really translated to winning. When I the last time a Minnesota Twins team has won a playoff game? Decades! Trade Polanco, DFA Kepler etc. We don't really give our minor league guys a chance. Wallner should be playing with the Twins on a regular basis. Our team has no speed but we have a former high round pick with another organization Andrew Stevenson who is hitting .326 (St. Paul) with 25 stolen bases and plays center field. Um. Michael Taylor is barely hitting. Why not reward this good play with opportunities. Look at Spencer Steer of Cincinnati, he was crushing it last year in the Twins system before we faded. I wonder if he would have been called up and played if we would have made the playoffs last year and he'd still be a Twin? We have a few catchers hitting real well in St. Paul as well. Maybe we should shake it up at that position as well.
  7. I think we need some speed in the lineup. What about ESTEURY RUIZ from Oakland. His WAR is 0.0 and he is 24 years old. But what I like is 31 stolen bases and only caught stealing 6 times. I think with a lot of big bats behind him a player like this would make sense. I don't think the price tag would be too steep.
  8. I think Lewis agent already implied Royce is not going to play outfield anymore. If you read between the lines there could be a dig that playing out of position could have caused the injury. I don't think you will see Royce play anything other than infield. If I could be GM for a day, I'd go after Esteury Ruiz. He is a 24 year old Center Fielder for the A's. The A's are doing horrible so I think a trade is doable. The kid is hitting .290 Average with .377 on base .pct but best of all 27 stolen bases and only thrown out 2 times. That is the kind of table setter that Twins lack. We do not have a speed guy that can help us win the 3-2 games. With out pitching rather good this year I think trading like a Jose Miranda (somebody talented but blocked) might make sense. Albeit, I like Miranda at 1st base. Any thoughts?
  9. I like the trade. And I really like Luis Arraez. He was worthy of the return. I think the Twins sold high on a guy who had a very good year. Luis will still have more good years but I think his knees trouble me for a kid only 25 years old and I anticipate he might have issues going forward. Both teams traded from a position of strength (surplus) so it makes sense. I hope Jorge Polanco is healthy and ready to have a big year because if not, the Edouard Julien kid is knocking at the door and also Austin Martin has a good on base .pct with plus plus speed (can steal bases) that the Twins lineup could use. All that said, I'm going to miss Luis Arraez and probably will follow the Marlins for the first time ever because of him.
  10. No way. He was horrible. Talk about a guy who was suppose to lead us to the promise land and got a little worse every year he played. Turn the page.
  11. I agree on Julien. I think he is MLB ready and think it is time to move Polanco when we build up his trade value.

  12. I think the bullpen is where the Twins could make the biggest impact. Even if we had to overpay. Think on how good K.C.'s bullpen was when the won the world series in 2015. Greg Holland, Wade Davis, and Kelvin Herrera. Everyone will remember in history mostly Hosmer, S. Perez, and Moustakas but I think that bullpen was a bigger driving force. I agree with a few of you guys that another dominant lefty would help. Brad Hand or Will Smith. There aren't many of them unsigned so an aggressive offer by the Twins seems wise to me.
  13. Equal to the likes of Glenn Borgman, Butch Wynegar, Sal Butera, Marc Salas, David Engle and Matt Walbeck.
  14. I just looked it up. Minnesota Twins Zero wins and ten losses in playoff games with Joe Mauer. Enough said for me.
  15. I say No. Beautiful game. But Hall of Famers win. I wonder how many playoff victories we had with Joe as a player. He never developed a power stroke either. I thought he should have hit the weights a bit more. Just being honest, he was my favorite player but always left me disappointed.
  16. I think we could have really good starting pitching if guys are healthy. Maeda, Mahle, Gray, and Ryan. What is we traded low on Trevor Bauer? I know character is a big question mark but the dude can pitch. If you took on that salary LA might trade him for a 20-30 range prospect. Bullpen could be good. Especially if Alcala is healthy. I think SS is the big question mark. Brooks Lee is hard charging and lets hope Royce Lewis can take the position by all star break. I really think we can contend with what we have now. Larnach and Kiriloff healthy should give the outfield a boost.
  17. You're a right. Jeffers has not lived up to his offensive upside. He has shown glimpses at times. I think it is in there somewhere. I remember Tori Hunter who would swing at the same down and away breaking pitch for like 7 straight years and then he said he started watching how Joe Mauer would take pitches and be patient and then suddenly a light bulb went on inside his mind. Tori was a much better hitter later on in his career. My hope for Jeffers is that he adapts much sooner.

  18. I like the move and personally would rather strengthen the bullpen. Povich does have upside but he's not a top 10. With Lopez in the 9th, you have Duran in the 7th or 8 and Jax before Duran. Two areas of opportunity for the Twins now will be helping Pagan get right in early relief because he really does have elite stuff. Second opportunity, if we can get Kenta Maeda healthy, he is nasty in the bullpen. He proved it with the Dodgers. I like this trade simply because we can't give up on this season and we didn't move any tier one prospects. Now if Povich wins the Cy Young some day than I was wrong.
  19. Also remember that Maeda might be able to help toward the end of the year in the bullpen and I'm hoping Jorge Alcala as well.
  20. Rather than decimate our prospect pool, I think the Twins should trade from a position of strength. We have a lot of depth in the outfield. I might use Max Kepler as a centerpiece to the Yankees in a 3-way trade with the Reds. Mahle comes to Minnesota and the Yankees send prospects to the Reds. I like the Bednar kid from the Pirates and Joe Mantiply the lefty from the D-Backs. I think trading guys like Cole Sands and Bailey Ober make more sense to me. I might even move Gio Urshela and give the keys to Jose Miranda. Miguel Sano is another guy we could hang out there. Notice we have been winning since Sano went away. I really don't think we need to blow up the farm. I think we just need to be a little creative who we trade. There certainly is a market for Max Kepler and a young pitcher like Ober there is a market. Gio Urshela to a contender makes sense. We need pitching. We also need prospects for future cause elite free agents don't usually come to Minny. Correa was a Godsend.
  21. I think the Twins should be engaging teams now instead of waiting to the trade deadline for bullpen help. We really need to stop the bleeding. Pagan is falling apart, Duffy has been suspect etc. We could trade from outfield depth such as Gordan or Kepler and I think we could trade Sano if anyone wanted to role the dice. Once Larnach returns from IL we will be pretty deep at outfield with Matt Wallner waiting in the wings at Wichita.

  22. There are 3 prospects I like in the Twins system that might be under the radar but I'm really intrigued how they will do this year. Cade Povich - Pitcher with nice mix Edouard Julien - Super good eye at plate. Really good on base .pct. Will play 2nd base at 2A to start season. Christian Encarnacion - Strand - Lots of pop in the bat. Comparable might be Jose Miranda.
  23. I like Donaldson as a player. Very good fielder and has pop at the plate. That said, i think he is at the age where he will struggle to stay healthy. If they could move that contract off the books we might better spend that money for pitching. We need to find players that are more athletic and pitchers who can miss bats. I might even consider moving Buxton for the same reason. He can't stay healthy. Lastly, you have to win a trade or think you are going to win a trade to even make it. If the trade does not make you better it is not worth making.
  24. The one thing I really enjoyed about the Tom Kelly teams was how well the team played on defense, and running the bases etc. If just don't like the defense now. I think Kirilloff would be a big upgrade over Sano defensively. In fact, unless Sano starts to swing the bat better I don't see what value he brings to the team. I'd like to think a healthy Donaldson, Simmons, Polanco and Kirilloff would be a good infield.
  25. For me the Kepler fielding play was horrible. There are softball players in the beer leagues making that catch. He is a pro. It's not the playoffs anymore, it's ok to win.
